OT: Friday night open/ what are you drinking thread?

Submitted by dlanny22 on

I, personally, am drinking the leftovers from all of the tailgates. Basically it's just the cheap beers bought to play beer pong. It's a mix of Bud Light, Blue Light, and Molson.  Not great quality, but it'll get me through the Wings and Championship games.  For those of you who may have stopped by the Jager Yearbook(my tailgate) thanks for stopping by.  Let's root for a Georgia loss tomorrow and a Sparty loss as well.

Started with my Hoptimus Prime IPA and then switched to a concoction I like to refer to as Bastard Child (IPA/Amber hybrid).

I too am diseased at the moment, but I figure the best way to combat the buggers it to kill 'em with alcohol.

GO BLUE!!!

With that said^ I could use some suggestions for beers to try. I'm not a big fan of stouts or incredibley hoppy beers, but on occasion I do like to deviate from the norm and get a "fancy" six pack. Any suggestions for a younger drinker would be appreciated.

Smithwick's (note: pronounced smit-icks) is really mainstream, you can find it in any grocery store.  Franzikaner, not as much.

Since you're in Ann Arbor, I'll let you in on the best-kept secret: The Wine Seller next to Carpenter Brothers near the Kroger on Plymouth Road.  They have the best beer selection in Ann Arbor, and the employees there are VERY helpful, and help recommend a beer.  The prices are fair, and they even have "make-your-own-6-pack" where each beer is $1-$2.  Definitely a great place to try out different beers and get some "professional" opinions.  Make sure to block out a good 20 minutes to spend there, though, because they have literally hundreds of beers, and you'll want to look at them all :)

company Christmas party tonight - the best beer available was Foster's in a can.  That ran out, reduced to Miller Lite, with the Mexicans in Shipping. They didn't like it either.

Dear God, thank you for Bella Bistro and their Knob Creek to wash that swill out of my mouth forever.

Funny thing - Hispanics HATE whisky.  Broad generalization I know, but based on a 5 person sampling, they prefer tequila. In a blue bottle.

I live in Nebraska and the micro brews here are shit. I don't want a Bud, so just water. Maybe a Jack and touch of coke on the rocks tomorrow. I need some two hearted ale please!

CC and Dr. Pepper.  I seem to drink that slower than Jack and Dr. Pepper.  Oh that's right, that's because CC sucks.  Oh well, I have at least 1000 ml left.  Time to get busy.
