OT: Best pizza joint in every P5 college town?
The MGoBlogosphere is both extraordinarily well-traveled and very opinionated about food, so I'm curious about its reaction to this graphic that's currently making the rounds on twitter.
I'm particularly interested in opinions about the best pizza joint in Tuscaloosa being Chuck E Cheese.

Old news. Posted last week here. It was a fun thread though.

In the OP's defense, last week we discussed "Pizza Jounts". So...

Sorry Donny old chap, you missed the boat with the thread last week.

His OP is much better though...

Keith Jackson...
No....only if someone dies for the second time, unless they died again from the food at the local "pizza jount", in which case it may be an acceptable reply.
Mike Jones???

Lived in Minneapolis for a while - Mesa Pizza is great
I’ll have to try it. I moved from Detroit to Minneapolis last summer. Definite upgrade on the ice cream shops, clear downgrade thus far on pizza.

Big upgrade on riots too

Come on everyone, don't be harsh. The discussion last week was about the best joUnts.

Mods, since I failed to perform the rudimentary search to make sure it wasn't already posted, dock me 50K points and nuke the post.

It's a nice graphic though!
Hey...Alabama and Chuck E Cheese never gets old, so +1 from me.
I get the topic was a reread but the graph you added was informative. So plus 1 to you
Or, they could edit the title to best P5 pizza toppings! Here in Minneapolis, it's lutefisk.
The self reporting and self punishment seems to work for SEC / OSU. Some new account will get banned for this infringement.
Given that you could have done a good faith search and missed it due to JOUNTS, not negging

NeoPapalis is simultaneously Ann Arbor's top pizza joint AND pizza jount? What an accomplishment!
April 27th, 2021 at 12:42 PM ^
Also lolz - Alabama's is Chucky E Cheese. You know the pizza's great when it has a mascot and it's a creepy rat. Also if you're interested, google "Chucky E Cheese recycled pizza". Although the jamboree band plays a killer setlist.

USC's is only a tad better in picking Blaze. While the Judge family does occasionally dine at Blaze, to put it as the best is a headscratcher.
Recent Master's grad from USC here. We had Rance's when I was there (since closed), which was decent deep dish pizza. Never had Rosso Oro's. Does Blaze just win by default?
Yea, many of these are default winners because for whatever reason there is shitty pizza by campus.
To be fair to USC, it’s hard to open a pizza Jount when you have to literally dodge bullets and homeless encampments.
They got the USC Village now, which has a bunch of mini-franchises like Wahlburgers and Baked Bear.

No worries, Don. I actually like that you linked the graphics to the OP, so accept my +1 and celebrate however you want with it.

Blaze Pizza best in College Park MD? Yeah, I'm at 15 year old valley girl attitude levels of "not even" with that one.

Ironically, the best pizza in Austin (judged by myself but backed up in local, statewide, and national rankings) is a joint called Via 313 - tigers, lions, and red wing paraphernalia inside.
Founders moves down from Detroit and they specialize in Detroit style pizza - they pretty much have a monopoly on that style in the Austin area.
Cheers.
I'm here in ATX, wholly concur. I posted below about Via 313
None of those headlines look new.
Maybe Hemingway was talking about the decline of journalism when he wrote "Gradually, then suddenly."
Oh, Don.
(Looks at Michigan)
(Doesn't see Pizza House)
this whole list is shit.
NeoPapalis is pretty good...but I'd take original Cottage Inn, Mani Osteria's, NYPD and Anthony's over it.
I understand one of those is more of an Italian restaurant that just has pizza on the menu, but it's really, really good.
Mother Bear’s in Bloomington IN is excellent.
They got Berkeley way wrong. Slice is “meh.” Best pizza when I was there was the Bear’s Lair. Right on campus with wood fired pizza oven, good craft brews and phenomenal burgers/food. Closed and reopened a few times over the years and they suck now (so I’ve heard).
Go to Blondies (now called Abe’s I think). Sell by the slice. There’s people who have been going there religiously for 20+ years. I think Emilias is better than Slice too (though it’s not really by campus).
Can he play DT?
Your non-New York City pizza sucks.
Best pizza in Ann Arbor is now Joe's...imported straight from NYC!
This is my friend, Deja Vu...."Have we met?"
I'm not familiar with neopapalis, was it on campus 20 years ago. I just assumed Pizza House would be the winner.
Best pizza I ever had was at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. I waited in line for four hours and it was worth it.
It’s ok, but I ate there solo while on a business trip. It took them 90 minutes to turn my table. I wasn’t the hold up.

I think the wait time is obscene and wouldn't do it again. We were there around 11 years ago when there was only the pizza place, and I think they were putting all their energy into it. I've heard that there's now a Bianco cottage industry.
I saw that U of Texas at Austin has some place that sells NY Style listed as the best. I will have to check it out, but Via 313 is my serious place here in ATX. By the name alone, you know what type of pizza they do. Further, Jeff Smokevich started the place, so there's the Blue connection. They have grown from a trailer to (I think) three stores and the trailer now, including the store near the UT campus on Guadalupe. It's very, very legit. Every single thing about the pizza is pitch-perfect Detroit-style. Sauce, crust, pepperoni, cheese, presentation, atmosphere, all tight.
Since Texas does not have a pizza, they can adopt ours because we know its the best.
At South Quad in 1994-96 I was a bread sticks and sauce aficionado from Cottage Inn on Packard, I think it was $3.49, no questions asked. It was close enough distance to manage when I was stoned and needed to go sortie for reinforcements. A major test of skill was route-finding my way from the front of Hunt House, 3rd Floor, to the back exit on Madison Street, which involved traversing a stairwell. When I move to 741 Packard, Bells entered the rotation if I wanted to go with a full pie. That was even closer. Pizza House was when I splurged.
That should be Slivers for Cal Berkeley not Silvers.
But that's not the best pizza place in that area. The best is Zachary's at Rockridge. Though Slivers is only a block off campus. Zachary's is like a mile away. But if you ever go, get the deep dish with these 5 toppings:
Double pepperoni,
Double pineapple,
Garlic.
Best pizza ever!
