Uh oh...

SAGINAW, Mich. -- A judge has ordered the arrest of Charles Rogers after the former Detroit Lions wide receiver failed to appear at a court hearing in Saginaw.

The 31-year-old is charged with making a malicious phone call and conspiring to commit that crime on March 5 and 6, and possessing marijuana, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license in December.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft was scheduled to attend a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday. MLive.com says Rogers called court officials to tell them he didn't have transportation.

Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank gave Rogers until the end of the working day to appear. When Rogers didn't show, the judge issued a bench warrant.

At this point this is just really, really sad.  Actually, it passed that point some time ago.  There is an amount of trouble that warrents mocking, then there are sad tales from people who appear unable to change or make good for themselves.  Rogers was a great WR at State and in his short amount of time not injured in the pros.  This story continues to get worse and there appears to be little hope.  I guess solice can come in the fact that if he ever does turn it around, he'll almost surely be getting paid by Hollywood for his story.

...it was a lot more fun, ridiculing the fact that someone could make an entire criminal law textbook out of just the wide reciever corps at MSU.

Too bad for him. He really squandered a lot of talent. I watched him play at Saginaw High and he was outstanding even then (but my beloved Chemics held him check when he came to Midland).
