All of these points seem to a degree, meaningless. The nfl is probably the hardest sport to keep a team dominant for an extended period of time. The team is older on offense and defense and has slowed to a degree from injuries to off the field issues. Kaepernick hasn't lit the world on fire but he was a third round pick from Nevada that could scramble. The fact that he took them to a Super Bowl is insane. Also look at what he did with mediocre Alex Smith. Basically my opinion is this, is he the next nick saban? I don't know, but he's a hell of a lot better option than anything that's available. He's had sustained success at every level of football and his attitude of take no shit from other coaches is exactly what Michigan needs. They've been soft for a while and he could be just the right person to pick the pieces up.

The 9-10 win thing would be acceptable to start but eventually you would like to see a team break through and have a banner year eventually with continued success. I didn't want this to be confused with 9 win complacency every year

I see what you are saying about some peoples ridiculous expectations but he is a proven winner. We as fans need to realize that the process may be longer than expected. First he has to develop the talent that is already at Michigan, while simultaneously recruiting developable talent. This doesn't mean all 5 stars necessarily. Then we need to see the team play well, especially against rivals. I can live with a 9-10 win season if the team looks consistent and improves each week. While I would love for Michigan to thrash msu and osu every year that's just not realistic. Beat one or both of those on a consistent basis and we are in business. The rest will fall in line accordingly if this can happen. I can even stomach a loss to a top tier team if the game is managed well and the players are executing. There are just some times that a team is just better on a given day, it just happens. It's a tall order but my opinion is that he is the best option for Michigan and of all the other potential candidates he is the better fit.

Lot of season left at this point but they have been a pleasant surprise. They finally are playing a quicker brand of hockey and also more physical than previous years. Tony Granato has been huge for their penalty killing which was an Achilles heel last season. Really glad they changed their power play break in as well. That whole process of hitting the blue line and passing back to a defenseman was painful to watch last year. I get the concept but it seemed more often than not they had problems gaining the zone to set up.

The whole show has parallels with the comic but with the show it strays off into way different things outside of the books. Some of these things are interesting character developments on the show and others are just things they do to fill up episodes. I think the comic is better than the show, but because it's so different I think it draws me to watch the show whenever it's on. Without giving too much away from the comic. The next few seasons could be very interesting IF they are done right and they could probably easily get two or three more years out of the show just to catch up to the most recent comic. Like I said if done right they could be pretty bad ass and action packed seasons also. Kirkman said he has an ending in sight for the comic and getting there could take a while yet. I don't have the link but that ending won't come for a while I'd imagine since the show and comic are huge cash cows right now.

The politics he speaks of in his book is more or less blaming the media for the reason why him and his team suffered through all the things they did during operation red wing. I know most people may feel like it's a politically bashing the democrat side of the spectrum but I felt like it was more a speaking against mainstream media which at the time was in 2003 I believe but it's spot on and anyone can see how poor media coverage is in today's world in 2014.

I think on their name alone that Alabama will get the nod over TCU until they lose another game. Not to be tin foil hat guy, but everyone who does these rankings is obsessed with SEC football. They are going to push hard to have two teams from the SEC in that inaugural playoff.

I like it. They have fixed the offseason issues this year(so far). Let's hope they can fix the penalties and lack of mental discipline on the field. If they can manage to contain that this team could wind up surprising even the most optimistic of fans. The talents there this year, but can they shake off the mantra of the same ole lions. I hope they can, because being the running joke of the nfl sucks

Have to disagree. As you saw today as soon as boston got their first goal they never let up and the crowd played a huge factor in that. To steal one game was huge to have a shot at this series but boston fed off of the crowd. Sports illustrated had an interesting article a few years back about home field advantage and while it may not be as big of a factor as we may think the results showed that officials are more likely to favor the home team due to the crowd. In hockey momentum is everything.
|37 weeks 4 days ago||Agreed. I think they have||
Agreed. I think they have finally realized that they can't just be all older skilled guys. In order to win the cup now you have to young physical guys who can skate. They have some nice pieces to grow around. I'm hoping that Mantha can crack the lineup next year. Need a few more guys for the back end on D but Babcock deserves coach of the year with what he has done under this years circumstances

They win two more games, I have to think that they have a spot clinched. I dislike how they have to basically playoff hockey before the playoffs the last few years. While it is great for being in stride in the first round, the second round is a different story. The young talent has really shown since the Olympic break and I have to think that in the next two years we may have the youngest roster in the league

Oh excuse me Mr. High and Mighty because I spelled the guys name wrong. He bought 2002 because there was no salary cap in place and he bought every big name on the market. 2008/2009 I give Holland full credit for. He made all the right moves within the parameters if the rules. Since then he has had some issues. I hate how some wings fans feel like he is free from any criticism since he was here for all of those cups. I am glad we won those, but just don't like how he is untouchable in some eyes. I actually thought he had a decent offseason this last year so hopefully he does the same again this year minus the Sammy bertuzzi and cleary deals.

Gasp. You can't say anything bad about Holland. He won two cups with delvanos teams and bought one in 2002 how date you. I as a wings fan hate how we out more emphasis on the damn playoff streak than we do on our past 11 cups

While it does suck, Canada can most certainly deal with the loss. My guess is St. Louis. He could fill in the goal scoring and 2nd line center role left void by Stamkos
