OT: Comcast Watch-A-Thon Week

Submitted by HelloHeisman91 on

Comcast customers, for the remainder of this week you can access the content of the movie channels OnDemand for free.  I have posted this in the past and people seemed to appreciate the heads up.  Anyway, I am looking forward to catchin up on House of Lies and Ray Donovan.  Any other recommendations are appreciated.

I've been watching Married at First Sight because the concept is crazy, marrying a stranger. That and Bar Rescue. I'm a Ramsay guy so Bar Rescue is just like Kitchen Nightmares, except it has more screaming and entertaining clusterfuck bars.

I abhore people who watch this shit to the tune that I make a point to remind my wife that watching the Real Housewives of Whatever County makes her dumber by the minute.

I understand that everyone has their own tastes and I can respect that you enjoy Two and a Half Men (because is an actual scripted show) but this scripted "reality" bullshit only serves to dumb down our population.

Party Down on Starz is a hidden gem of a comedy that not many people know about. Adam Scott is the star of it. It's about a group of failed actors that work for a catering company. I would check it out

Also, since this is a comcast thread-

They can suck a fat one for putting commercials on the on demand shows. I remember when on demand used to be nice. No commercials, no BS, it was great.

Sure, you can fast forward through commercials--until you watch shows from Fox and other networks that BLOCK YOU from fast forwarding!

Screw Comcast with a rusty fork. Their internet speeds never even come close to advertised speeds. I have had two techs come out to try to sketch out wiring with zero results. I then had a tech lie to his superiors about his no show for one of my appointments. I ended going back to att and uncutting the cord.

Is the worst service company I've ever had the displeasure of paying $280 per month.

If I wasn't so damn lazy I would have cut the cord already.

In other news:  JD Martinez just jacked a low fastball about 390 out to deep right.  2 run dinger.  Love MLB app.  Makes the work day fly by.

I'm a regular viewer of The Topless Prophet on Cinemax. Errr, I mean I love watching Nova on PBS, great educational programming.

Not a ComCast subscriber so I have no idea if this is available during this "watch a thon," but Togetherness is a good show on HBO.

I've all but walked away from Showtime programming. They are the kings of great first seasons followed by underwhelming stinkers. House of Lies and Ray Donovan are two prime examples. If you are looking for some interesting programming, venture over to Cinemax. Banshee and Strike Back are awesome. But, the best two shows on Premium are Game of Thrones and Veep. The best original show on Netflix is Peaky Blinders by a large margin.

Everybody is familiar with the HBO options these days, so let me suggest The Knick or, if you're in the mood for something more full of pulp, Banshee.

I blasted through the 8 episodes of Silicon Valley over the last couple days.  Show has potential... so long as you enjoy vulgar humor.

For the 3 people that haven't yet seen them.

I don't watch TV so I completely missed West Wing.  7 seasons and 2 weeks later.... One of the best shows I've ever seen. One of the only shows I've ever seen.

Also, Sherlock is outstanding.  Wish there was more of it.
