Well thanks for the thought anyway.... I keep hearing the senior members talk about points, but as a newby who can't use the function anyway, it hasn't effected me yet.

Although, I was the first one on the blog to talk about the golden pants issue, but couldn't make a new thread about it. Rules are rules though... gotta keep the riff raff out.

Really it doesn't matter too much at this point. When points get back up it's fun, but otherwise it just lets you create a thread or edit the HOF or the 2 Deep. I'd definitely try to get 500 before the first loss of the season though...

What the fuck is it about weed that makes people blow their scholarships and the best opportunity they'll ever have because they can't get enough of smoking it?

There was a guy in my ROTC unit at UVA who got himself kicked out in his senior year for repeatedly smoking weed.  Out-of-state kid, too. Thank you for coming, but your military service will not be necessary, so we'll need that $100,000 back now.

That's ridiculous. I decided two years ago to try and go the Marine OCS route, and it's pretty simple: just don't smoke if you want to do that. It really isn't even that hard not to, since you can still drink or hang around people who like to smoke. It'd be even easier if I had an OOS scholarship at UVA that required me not to.

Honestly I don't have any problem with people smoking weed. It's not my thing, and I probably wouldn't even if I could, but I have several good friends who enjoy it. It's their decision and body, and given my enjoyment of a beer or two, I don't really feel like I can say that getting into an altered state of mind is the worst thing in the world; you just have to be able to do that and be responsible with your other obligations.

The issue here isn't weed per se, it's an unwillingness to follow simple rules. I personally think that weed should be taxed and regulated in the same manner as alcohol and tobacco, but the fact is that it's illegal and for Jenkins to potentially mess up his career and his life over it is just careless and stupid.

Oh clearly very stupid. I don't think anyone would argue he was smart in this case.

I happen to think it should be legalized, but while it isn't, I'm going to not smoke it if I have something to lose.

It mystifies me too. I smoked enough of it in HS and early college to eventually get bored with it, but even if I loved it I never would have jeopardized a full-ride scholarship and potential NFL contracts worth millions.

As Lloyd and others have said, "Life is tough if you're stupid."

Good to see justice in the SEC. Usually SEC justice is a "slap on the wrist". Urb was notorious for hilariously weak penalties, like suspending transgressors for a series or a quarter.

Lions can take a LB or rush DE and grab this guy in the 3rd/4th? Thankfully the Lions are very good at cleaning up a guy and readying him for the trials of the NFL...

I'm curious as to who the Lions have cleaned up and readied for the rigors of the NFL.  My thoughts immediately go to the spectacular failure of Charles Rogers, and I'm drawing a blank on a counter-example.

I expect there are likely a few examples, but I'm not aware of a Warren Sapp-like redemption story for the Lions.

Looks like the Michigan secondary hating god is vacationing in Florida for the time being.

*EDIT* Thank you for the correction. That was dumb of me to think he could go in the draft with it taking place in 2 days. lol

Get counseling, work with an S&C guru for a year, enter draft, get stolen by good team in late round, make money, problem solved.

The kid will be all right.

Wow. Coach Muschamp is not fucking around at all. Im glad to see this. A coach actually doing the right thing. Jenkins was arguably the best returning DB in football. That is how you set an example for your team. Tressel should be even more ashamed of what he did. Props to Mr Muschamp.

...Jenkins just didn't have a marijuana cigarette....he had a marijuana CIGAR. That boy sure does like his marijuana if he had it in a cigar form. I wonder if it was a Churchill or a Presidente? Or maybe he got creative and wraped it as a Torpedo?
