OT: Adidas commercial shows 2010 ND vs Michigan game
Newish Adidas commercial featuring Justice's new song Civilization, it's tight but it could have been awesome.
Flip to 1:30 into the video and shortly you'll see a quick clip of what looks like Rudolph scoring on Michigan, but I'm pretty sure this play got called down at the 1.
I hate that Adidas implies that ND scored on this play and I hate that they feature ND and their ugly stadium. Come on, show the big house on a Maize Out or something spectacular, after all we still sell more merchandise than they do (ref).
My big question is why didn't they show the longest run in Notre Dame stadium history and the obvious highlight of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_xePqfTAi8
Probably because Rudolph signed with adidas.
THAT'S why RR didn't work out. It took 3 years for Adidas to finally be "All in"
It all makes sense now.
Yeah, this commercial pisses me off. Why would they show Notre Dame scoring on us (another Adidas school)? Makes no sense. Hopefully we're up in their next commercial.
Showing Katy Perry scoring would improve the commercial ten fold.
Showing Katy Perry doing anything at all would make the commercial worse tenfold.
Prettay prettay prettay good.

My thoughts exactly...Katy Whats-her-name showing her juggs would make me happy
Wouldn't Nike have a problem if they showed ND scoring on a Nike school?
They show Lionel Messi dismantle a bunch of dudes from Barcelona which, I think, is a Nike team.
It was actually Argentina v. Spain. Spain is also an Adidas team. It's actually a weird commercial and a lot of fan bases could choose to be upset. Assuming that was the World Cup match, Spain actually won that match and the cup. Messi actually plays for Barcelona, which is a Nike team.
I just re-read what I wrote and thought it didn't make sense then watched it again and saw that...at least we don't come off looking as bad as they made the world champions look.
Not that this really matters, but after further review, I was wrong and I think that must have been a friendly between Argentina and Spain, I don't believe they played in the last World Cup.
It wouldn't matter if it were a Nike school. That clip is so brief that 99% of viewers probably have no idea whom ND is playing.
This is definitely not OT
If you're going to feature any college football player wearing Adidas, why would you choose anyone other than Denard? He's super-fast and the biggest selling point of football shoes is to make someone faster, right?
I think it has to do with amateurism.
It's because Denard doesn't have a good smile.
We won the game anyway. Although, if they were looking for a single big play, I am a tad bit surprised they wouldn't pick Denard busting that run just before the half.
They are student athletes. If they're in it, they would get paid and thus it would be an improper benefit.
Adidas is such a fail. Stop trying to copy Nike's 'Boom' campaign and just go back to Europe. For most of this commercial I couldn't even tell what was being advertised.
GET OFF MY LAWN.
So good, you don't even need to tie them!
these things write themselves. How tough is it, marketing guys?
The NCAA called. They, and their member instutions, control any mention of shoelaces being untied. Or shoes, or laces, or actually wearing shoes with untied laces. (Their lawyers are looking into thier ability to control loafers too.) They are going to hit you with a cease and desist order and/or renact the scene from the end of Braveheart on you if ever do this again. You can only make such statements if you go through a licensed entity so the NCAA can get a cut, err, protect the purety of amateur athletics. They are here to protect Denard from people looking to make a buck, or mogopoints, on his untied shoes. I mean really - how dare you!
implies that Notre Dame has/had the ability to beat Michigan, which is simply not true :P
Not to be a dick, but our maizeouts suck. Only the student section really gets into it. The rest of the stadium just looks sad.
but it's gonna be hard to do that this year seeing as I bought a #16 Addidas jersey on my way out of the Big Chill and I would, ya know, like to wear it since it isn't free.
May I suggest a Maize hockey jersey as the perfect Maize Out attire. A No. 16 jersey is, of course, a solid choice for the rest of the schedule. The only exception is if we are undefeated with you wearing the #16. Then under no circumstances, should you (or anyone else) alter their game day outfit.
Totally a dick... you try and communicate with the 3rd largest city in Michigan <--- (see what I did there) that they all need to wear maize and see how well you do... I think it is done quite well
Penn State pulls it off pretty well.
pull off a maize out....
touche
Maizeouts are planned before the season. It's not like they tell people the week of the game that it's happening. Shouldn't be so hard even though there's 110,000 people
do we really need to discuss this?
i saw this commercial and thought "this represents the smallest bit of flim related to michigan, i wonder how long until someone posts about it?"
dog days of football, it's pretty much this and unsubstantiated rumors of off-the-field incidents and kool-aid drinking from insiders at camp (remember the board buzzing in spring 2008 that the offense was "unstoppable" by the defense in practices?) for the next 4 months.
Hopefully we'll be right about the Kool-Aid this year, though!
I saw this commercial a few days ago and was pissed. Then remembered: scoreboard.
maybe you guys are all wrong.
maybe adidas is just trying to show how all the people they are sponsoring are competitive. you dig deep into that nd um football play, well nd almost scored the td, putting a brilliant display of offense; however, michigan didn't give up till the end and they stopped them at the one yard line.
just my two cents
that is a thought provoking concept you have presented... I will definitely ponder that for the rest of my day... welcome to the board...
Blows.
Yeah when that contract runs out in 2015 hopefully we sign back with Nike and can have the best uniforms in sports again
Because if there's any company that knows something about tasteful uniform designs, it's Nike?

Nike blows
That commercial sucked... a bunch of Notre Dame and Argentina... ughhh... and we are their big school name and we get nothing?
At least they showed the All Blacks though just for like a second.
I was wondering about all the Argentina love too. Clearly they feel emphasizing ND and the Bulls is enough for the North American demographic, but they probably forgot that a lot of America doesn't particularly care for the Fighting Irish.

I remember being pretty upset when I saw this commercial as well. I believe there is a different/shorter version, which is more played on television than this one, where the ND score is actually the last shot of the entire commercial. I know as fans, most of us are upset about this. But to be honest, I would be even more upset if I was DB or someone in the athletic department. I understand that Addidas wants to show ND, and even them scoring, but there is no reason why they need to show them scoring against the company's biggest selling school in a game in which said school actually won--when the two schools are bitter rivals. From what I understand, UM has not been very happy with the transition from Nike to Addidas thus far, and I wouldn't be surprised if this just adds to that unhappiness. Chances are we will go with someone else after the contract runs up, and more than likely it will be Nike.
Also, B.O.B. sucks--Wale all day.
