OSU vs. MSU - Prediction thread

Submitted by Drew_Silver on

In the B1G's other marquee matchup  this weekend (besides UofM vs. NU)

Spartans meet the Buckeyes, I generally root for State every game they play besides against Michigan, I really can't root for the bucks

state is 18-5 in nov under mark d.

bucks have a 20 game B1G regular season winning streak - I would love to see snapped

I think Spartans win a close game

(EDIT) updated to reflect the proper home away naming protocol

Tomorrow, 8:00 PM on ABC, ESP3
Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, Michigan
13Ohio State
Buckeyes
(7-1)

7Michigan State
Spartans
(7-1)

If this means that Dantonio and Urbz get taken out I may just have to volunteer. I don't see Michigan being good again for a very long time, I have student loan debt and a shitty job. If someone can provide a plane I am in.

Close game most of the way, Sparty up 27-20 with 3:00 minutes to go, buckeyes driving, Sparty sends a blitz, Barrett shits his pants while trying to scramble away, he recklessly tosses the ball towards nobody but a Sparty who takes it back for a TD, 34-20 Sparty.

Their offense is humming against defenses that don't have a pulse. It got relatively held in check 2 weeks ago at Penn State. And got straight up owned by VaTech. I think the offense is much better now than it was in Week 2, but OSU is yet to put together a complete offensive effort against a good defense. I think MSU makes life really tough for Barrett tomorrow night, especially being on the road.

Bosa goes crazy as he seems to always do, but MSU pulls away late 27-17.

The stats (both offensive and defensive) for OSU and MSU are surprisingly similar. People still think of MSU as a grind-it-out defensive team but they are scoring nearly as many points as OSU this year, oddly Sparty's defense isn't quite at its usual dominating level.

The biggest difference in the two teams is that MSU has played two good teams (Oregon in Eugene and Nebraska in EL) while OSU's best opponent thus far has been...Maryland. Add in OSU's loss to a bad Va Tech team, the near loss to a bad PSU team and that the game is a night game in East Lansing and I think the Spartans take this one. MSU by no more than a TD.

I have MSU pretty easy in this one, 2 TDs.  OSU is worse in every position group than last year on offense other than maybe WRs.  I'll call QB a wash.  MSU's offense is better in every facet but short yardage running.

OSU offense actually reminds me of some of those RR offenses - put up video game numbers on junk to mediocre teams and get stymied by good defenses.  I will allow Barrett was just getting his feet wet vs VA Tech but in the 2 games vs real defenses OSU has been neutered on offense.  They will so again vs MSU.

34-17 to the bad guys, over the other bad guys.

Only hope for OSU is that Cook's normal dropped 3 INTs are caught.

Not trying to nitpick, just curious. Is there a conventional for listing opponents? Like is it A v. B if A was home or B at A. Op has A v. B for both games, in one case A is home in the other A is away.

I'm rooting for the home team to lose because that means more misery.

I also want rain.  And wind.

With lots and lots of post-game traffic.

in my life have been oddly quiet this year, even before and after we played them. The buckeyes I know however have already started in with the little needles and jabs. F**k osu. Well, f**k 'em both, but f**k osu harder.

Ohio State dominates statistically, Sparty somehow farts their way to a win. Everyone's playoff hopes take a hit, albeit a much bigger one for the Bucks.

Oh wait, I forgot what good football teams look like. Good teams don't get statistically dominated at home, and good teams don't lose games in which they dominated statistically. At least not often.

If I thought Michigan could really go into Columbus and ruin it all for Urban, I'd hold my nose and hope for an OSU win tomorrow, but it's not happening so I don't really give a shit. I do feel OSU is a program at least deserving of respect as opposed to MSU, so if someone has to represent the B1G in the Playoff I guess I'd rather it's them, but...I'll just take no B1G teams in it. Whomever wins tomorrow somehow loses to Wisconsin in Indy, there's my hope.

MSU, 34-27

I predict I'll be dissatisfied with the outcome either way, but would prefer Sparty to win since they are but a temporary blip in the bigger picture that is Michigan/Ohio State.  Let them enjoy their decade.  Michigan will always recruit better, and once we get a coach whose head is not parked up his ass, they'll be back to Lil Bro status.  Go Lil Bro.

I predict I wont watch a minute.

I predict I do something worthwhile with my finite time alloted on this mortal coil.

Perhaps a fine bourbon and a fishing pole is in my future.

Perhaps a spring aged balsamic.

OSU's offense has gotten blown up by strong front 7s (VT, PSU) and rolled over weaker ones (everyone else). Unless something changes, they're going to get blown up again.

Meyer will do what it takes to win this game which will be a lot of running the football with Barrett and Elliott.

Barrett is already beat up and I don't think he makes it out of this slugfest healthy.

I guess MSU? All our rivals being ahead of us just makes me hate em all equally now... whereas I used to rank em OSU > MSU >= ND... ugh...

OSU's offense has improved since VT, but MSU's defense is better on all fronts than VT's.  I say MSU does around as much damage on defense as VT did, and MSU's offense takes care of business.  MSU by at least 10.

They both lose... But seriously after the game both teams are ruled ineligible to play in the big ten championship game due to players receiving improper benefits. Michigan is able to jump Maryland in the east division at the end of the season and defeats Nebraska in the big ten championship game.

I always wants famity to do well, so.. . . . I'm thinking little bro On the other hand, dantonio is, maybe, a bigger douche than urbz. So maybe osu l . . . Yet again, it would be typical spart no to have a shot at a playoff lost in happy valley on the last day of the season.. . . . So, I guess I'm rooting for little bro, but expect Ohio to win by 6. More importantly, michigan will beat osu by 13 in the cesspool!
