ND's Golson no longer enrolled UPDATE: Academically ineligible for 2013
BREAKING: Notre Dame confirms to WNDU that quarterback Everett Golson is no longer enrolled at ND. They can't say why due to privacy laws.
EDIT: WOTS is that it's for some sort of academic offense, possibly cheating, but that's all hearsay at the moment. Also, someone named Daniels is reportedly out as well, but I don't know who that is.
EDIT 2: New WOTS is that Golson may be expelled for one semester and that Daniels has not been booted. Probably best to just take everything with a massive grain of salt until everything becomes a little clearer.
They were expecting him to be a superstar this year. I'd feel bad for them...but it's Notre Dame
And Gunner Kiel just transferred! lol ND
that's probably all for the chest, then
huzzah! for my first double post.
now i have twice as many posts as ND haz viable starters
People always post this but i've never watched it. I finally did. Now that 4 minutes of my life have been forever lost, I'd like to suggest this video is something that should go from "obligatory" to "banned to hell for all eternity." That's the God-awfullest thing I've ever seen.
I don't remember how long I got through, but I'm pretty sure I tuned it off around the 30 second point the only time I tried to watch it. Are you by any chance a masochist?
My personal best? 45 seconds with no sound. 10 seconds with sound. But my kids know the words to "I Love You, Denard" so I'm not exactly above this sort of thing.
It's obligatory because it is a reminder of how terrible Notre Dame is.
This video is god awful, sounds horrible, looks horrible, is just overall a piece of shit, yet it somehow pretends to be the best video ever made.
That is essentially Notre Dame. Hence the meme. It's a metaphor, yo.
Or, some people post it simply because it is hilariously bad and Notre Dame made it. But no one posts it because they think it's good and people need to see it.
The #5 jersey at ND has now officially become a joke:
If somebody tries to hand you a #5 jersey at Notre Dame, politely decline.
After the Manti Teo Catfish hoax and now the Everett Golson dismissal, does anyone ever buy or wear the #5 jersey in public again? Because there were a ton of them sold and still a lot on the marketplace.
$180 authentic #5 jersey:

Get your #5 Notre Dame cap here if the jersey was not enough:

That's a good point. Nobody is going to want to wear that number for a long time.
"Word on the street" is he's gone for cheating in school.
Take it all FWIW
Word on the street is Everett Golson may be expelled for plagiarism on a final. #pleasegodno

So he pulled a Forcier?
I thought the force just didn't show up vs. cheating.
He was too cool for school.
Apparently Forcier thought he was enrolled at Ohio.
Oh Tate cheated while he was at Michigan. I could name a few other names I knew cheated while I was a Chem 130 GSI...
If this is the reason, some props to ND are in order for sticking to thier guns. I have to imagine Ohio St. and some SEC schools might of handled that situation differently, since players "aint here to play school".
...and if they didn't arrange the cheating, then the kid would have received an "A" for showing initiative.
What is this, the Kobi Ashi Maru test?
fundamentals of Golf and Aids awareness?
Well, also, after the whole Te'o thing, ND pretty much has to distance itself from any player scandals.
administration for this action. How many times have academic departments been pressured by the AD to brush things under the rug?
This is similar to the Dorsey issue. The school would not commit this kid regardless of the AD because he did not meet minimum standards. I was sad for Dorsey and RR but happy to see this action.
Congrats to ND for sticking to their guns. I would hope we do the same in the future.
Tate Forcier can attest that we don't kid around about this stuff.
He fought a police officer & lost. Oh wait, that was another ND QB.
/s (That was Rees, of course)
Who will be their back up now? Oh and HAH!
And Kiel already transferred...Tommy Rees is the man once again? I'm fine with that! Just goes to show that anything can happen and sticking it out isn't necessarily a bad thing! Kiel could have been ND's starting QB and decided pastures were greener elsewhere.
I doubt he will, but as long as he hasn't enrolled yet at Cincinnati, he can still stay at Notre Dame.
Ha-HA!!! This just keeps getting better! Suck it, ND!
Kiel wasn't the backup anyway...it's Rees' job. Hendrix and Zaire will back him up. It's funny, but Kiel may not have even been #3 on that depth chart over Hendrix. And Zaire's coming in with Shane Morris like hype.
...due to an exception clause.
http://www.athleticscholarships.net/2013/05/25/how-gunner-kiel-could-play-for-nd-this-year.htm
Bylaw 14.5.5.2.8, the Return to Original Institution Without Participation or With Minimal Participation Exception says that a student-athlete can play immediately after a transfer if:
The student transfers to a second four-year collegiate institution, does not compete at the second institution and does not engage in other countable athletically related activities in the involved sport at the second institution beyond a 14-consecutive-day period and returns to the original institution. The 14-consecutive-day period begins with the date on which the student-athlete first engages in any countable athletically related activity (see Bylaw 17.02.1). A student may use this exception even if he or she has an unfulfilled residence requirement at the institution from which he or she is transferring.
Maybe he left for more than just the depth chart. If his coach's face can turn purple on national TV, then I wonder what it looks like in a private practice? I'm envisioning the alien from Predator...
Tommy Rees is starting to reach Nick Toon levels of "Isn't this that guy's 7th year in college?"
Stephen Garcia at South Carolina as well... I could have sworn he was Spurrier's go to guy at quarterback for a decade even though he sucked pretty badly.
My ND friend is freaking out. And she's begging Gunner to come back. (How would that work? Would he be allowed to without sitting out since he said he's transferring?)
There has to be something really big that happened, like felony big.
But as long as Kiel has not enrolled yet at Cincinnati, he can still go back to ND. I doubt this happens. I am guessing he wouldn't be next on the depth chart anyway.
Okay, according to this (link) he would be eligible to play at ND, but he would have to be a walk on for one year.
Kiel may have already transferred out of Cinci by now. Still looking for his chest, by now he might again be on the move after realizing he wasn't a "different breed of cat" or even a different breed of Bearcat.
Was it a "you're never going to see the field here, kid, have at it" type Brian Kelly release? Or did he burn his bridges?
Depending on how he left, Brain Kelly may not want him back.
Unintentional original typo on the "Brain Kelly", but it made me laugh, so I'm leaving it
And as to the discovery of Tom Golson cheating, is anyone really surprised by it?
Zaire (true freshman) or Tommy Rees.
Rees isn't that bad. He's the guy who played most of the game against us last year, after Golson looked like a deer in the headlights. He's not a superstar but you could do a lot worse than a guy who's started parts of three seasons.
about experience and all, but I he wouldn't have been NEAR as effective UTL without Floyd.
