Michigan v. South Carolina in the Outback Bowl
Michigan will face South Carolina in the Outback bowl per their official website. Should be some fun quotes from the OBC

Let's kick their fucking asses!

I'm afraid to say, I don't forsee that ending well for you. But hey, they said the same thing about the 2008 Citrus Bowl.

I'm more worried about the O-line than just Borges's playcalling. Borges will be Borges, IMO, but the interior line might very well get manhandled. Hope I'm wrong.
December 2nd, 2012 at 7:21 PM ^
Agreed. Jadeveon Clowney is a beast, a man among boys. He would be a high draft pick this year if he wasn't a true sophomore.
December 2nd, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
Lewan is pretty good?
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:07 AM ^
Lewan lines up at left tackle everytime. USC can line Clowney up on either side to take advantage of match ups.
December 3rd, 2012 at 8:08 AM ^
I'll get flaimbaited for this, but Lewan has not impressed as of late. 'Overrated' flies to mind. And I hope he really proves me wrong.

Great matchup!

It was just made official, and wasn't posted anywhere yet...

Can't wait for i-form power with Vincent Smith vs. Jadeveon Clowney.
December 2nd, 2012 at 6:11 PM ^
Not to mention the subsequent 10 play-action passes in a row where Clowney doesn't have to worry about the run.
December 2nd, 2012 at 6:21 PM ^
Just think, Al has a whole month to draw up one half's worth of a game plan.

So what is Ronald actually doing there?

Too much Cock-beating? Perhaps when the game is over, we can shake hands with the sheriff...

I like it. They are the SEC team I think we have the best chance against this year.
This will be the first meeting since Bo's troops traveled to Columbia and gave them a pounding in '85.
December 2nd, 2012 at 6:36 PM ^
I agree - their offense doesn't scare me. Just need to see a good, entire game from Borges - we can score on this team.
December 2nd, 2012 at 11:57 PM ^
You haven't seen South Carolina play this year I see, so I'll fill you in. Their front 7 is a bunch of fuckbeasts like ND that will absolutely eat the souls of our interior OL blocking, and Taylor Lewan will at best be even with Clowney, who is a bonafide first round pick.
It doesn't matter what Borges calls unless he can call for a play where Denard levitates and flies into the end zone. This team has a brutal front that will make running nearly impossible, and passing definitely impossible. The thing to hope for is the 2nd half ND game plan without turnovers and somehow scoring 15-22 while getting turnovers from SCAR. With a defensive TD, 4 FG, and 1 offensive TD, you might get 26 points, which could be enough. But that's about all you can hope for. They are good man.

I agree this team is better than some are getting credit for, but I don't agree with your dire forecast either. First off, I was at that ND game, and we moved the ball great. I was actually impressed with Borges game plan (minus the HB pass). We were able to spread out a much more physical team and get our quick guys in space. The problem with ND, is they manage to play a true bnd not break D. When we played them, we moved it steadily, but they wouldn't give up big plays, which forced us to stay on the field and increased the odds we turn it over.
This is not an Alabama team that wil both faster and stronger. I think it wil come down to not turning the ball over, and our defense continuing to play tough and keep people out of the end zone

was wiiiiiiiide open. smith just paniced and threw it to a defender cause there was a dude about to kill him
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:04 PM ^
Well he is a HB. Even IF the guy is open (which he was), theres still the part of having a 5'8'' guy throw it accuratly over an oncoming ND defense
December 5th, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
Actually I have relatives that go to school there and have seen every game but one this year. They are good but a major step down from Alabama, and probably ND for that matter. Their defensive front is very good, after that they get pretty beatable.
December 2nd, 2012 at 6:44 PM ^
SC is a step down from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and A&M. This should be a competitive game.
December 2nd, 2012 at 10:04 PM ^
They were a step up from Georgia on the field this year, they won 35-7. Apart from that their season was pretty meh, they laid an egg against Florida and barely beat weak Vandy and Tenn teams. They played LSU close, though.

Funny how you question calling them a step down and then go on talking about the reasons one can reasonably call them a step down
December 3rd, 2012 at 12:53 AM ^
Color commentator Frank Broyles was shocked at how our DL controlled the LOS! Great game, I can't wait until we get back to having a dominating defense!

are 25th and 23rd? Not as easy as splitting the difference, especially when we haven't been able to establish the run all year. But I will take it, especially if Borges goes bonkers with Denard and Devin.
Good test of our faith in Borges, I'd say, because there's zero reason not to pull every wild hair out of his yass.
December 2nd, 2012 at 9:52 PM ^
Was there a reason I missed "not to pull every wild hair out of his yass" against OSU?
December 2nd, 2012 at 6:21 PM ^
I just want to wake up on New Year's slightly hungover and turn the game on and be like hell yeah Borges that's the offense I've been envisioning.

I'm fairly confident that we'll be 21-7 against the SEC when the offseason begins.
My only sadness with this is that I'll be in the middle of an 8 hour roadtrip on New Year's Day. I'm going to DVR it and try my hardest to not hear about it before I get home to watch it.

i'll be overseas. oh well.
also, every time i see your avatar, i am awed.

Even worse I'll be traveling in India...Oh wait. That's awesome!

Beckmann and Brandstatter could make that drive easier.
December 2nd, 2012 at 6:50 PM ^
I don't think I'd be able to get the whole game; I'm driving from halfway up Michigan down around to north of Chicago.
