Strange. Given the herd…

Strange. Given the herd mentality and the general "virtue signalling" on this blog, as well as the vilification of independent thought, I thought for sure this lunacy would have been a big hit.

I agree.  I also think…

I agree.  I also think everyone attending the game should kneel for the national anthem to show their support for Brenda Tracy. That's the only way for other people to know that they're against rape.

I just posted this in…

I just posted this in response to the question of "virtue signaling".  However, I think you especially should read this.

Thumbs up to that sentiment…

Thumbs up to that sentiment.

I realized a long time ago that rational discussion of ideas, often unpopular ideas, is not possible on this board.  If the popular opinion is adverse to your own, name calling and vitriol ensues. It's the exact bullying that the same people denounce and "virtue signal" over.

Not so much.

How dare you think for…

How dare you think for yourself on this board! Using rational thought to express your opinion, if it's contrary to the beliefs of the most outspoken "MGO Virtue Signalers", is egregious and fascist!!!

I'm asking because I…

I'm asking because I honestly want your opinion:

If Warinner is such a great coach, why did the line look so bad yesterday? How can it keep looking so bad every year, in Harbaugh's 4th year?

The O-Line has been the bug…

The O-Line has been the bug for at least the last 6 years. Harbaugh hasn't fixed it yet.  How the fudge is the O-Line still crap? National championship in 2016 with a good O-Line.  Harbaugh's fourth year and it's still garbage.

With Harbaugh it's ALWAYS a…

With Harbaugh it's ALWAYS a handful of plays.  Or just one. Doesn't matter. He can't win big games.

He beat Wisconsin at home with a team that had a record number of NFL players. That's his claim to fame in over 3 years at Michigan.

No matter, the outcome is ALWAYS the same. Underachievement. Wait till next year.

What makes Michigan fans…

What makes Michigan fans different from other teams, like Ohio State, is their team almost never wins any big games, any road games against a ranked opponent (12 years), is 9-9 in the last 18 games and their team hasn't won a conference championship in almost 15 years.  The difference is that Michigan fans haven't had much to cheer for. Ohio State fans have.

What's Michigan's record against OSU in the last14 years? Big difference.

Most of these pricks are…

Most of these pricks are dicks.

"I'm so tired of people that…

"I'm so tired of people that read a headline or a random quote and immediately become morally outraged and are ready to attack the character of anyone that might not share their view or hold the same level of outrage, despite not actually having evidence to base their assumptions on."

You're proving my point.  And yes, I am a real man. Especially compared to your "outrage" and childish name-calling.

I hope you never get called for jury duty.

I'm so tired of people that…

I'm so tired of people that read a headline or a random quote and immediately become morally outraged and are ready to attack the character of anyone that might not share their view or hold the same level of outrage, despite not actually having evidence to base their assumptions on.

"I love the people who claim it might not be Zack".

Guess what?  It might not be Zack.  It might be Zack (There's a good chance it is).  You have no evidence either way.

"I bet he just rushed and sent it out there with his reputation on the line without fact checking it first." That's exactly what YOU did.

Why not wait until you do before telling everyone what you think they're allowed to believe?

What a society we live in.

I may have been drinking but this is an excellent point.

How many millions does the fencing coach get paid?  As much as I love curling as an Olympic sport (and I do), I'm not sure it generates the same viewership (advertising revenue) as other sports.

Frey is a good hire and the O-line has improved since the start

of the season.  I think they are getting better and am more optistic about next year.

However, Fire Drevno. Fire Pep.  Fire Jaybaugh.  Hire Mike Hart and Jedd.

That's exactly what I tell myself!

"I'd wish you luck but you TOTALLY have this after the drinks + weed ... you won't at all be a babbling incoherent predator".

"There is no tomorrow."

Exceuses are all I've heard since App. St.

If we had so much talent last year we shouldn't have lost to Iowa.  Or to OSU.  Or Florida St.

We sure as shit shouldn't have lost to MSU at home.

No more passing the buck.  Like Apollo Creed said to Rocky, "There is no tomorrow"!

I feel we should have won every game we played last year,

perhaps with better coaching.  If you can't win with all that NFL talent, than can you win at all?

Now it's back to, "they're a young team..."  Next year when we have to replace the QB, it will be more excuses.

How could Henne play as a true freshman and be so much better than what we have with our seniors?  How can many other schools play a true freshmen and actually be good, but we suck at most positions and everyone says it's because we are so young?  Why does it seem like the more our QB's are coached, the worse they play on the field?

Year three and the O-line is still a pile of hot garbage. It will most likely be a pile of shit next year, as well.  Harbaugh still hasn't fixed any of it.

WTF does it all mean?

That was exactly my point when I asked before the season,

If Michigan has a rebuilding year this year and a young team next year, and doesn't beat Ohio State or ever win the B1G after 4 years, at what point will Harbaugh be on the hotseat.  What will it take for the fans to turn on him?

Many people on this board were outraged.

When I was a boy

I absolutely thought like that.  Still do.  As I'm sure the shirt maker does as well.

Roger that.

!

I couldn't agree more regarding the O-line.

It also cost  us at Iowa.  Hopefully the new coach right's the ship.

You're probably correct.

I'm confident that if we had a better Oline last year we would have gone to the NC.  That was my biggest concern to start last year and am hopefull the new coach will be the piece we were missing to make real strides.

Thank you!

That's the kind of reply I was hoping to get.  If Harbaugh went 0-5 or 0-7 with OSU there would have to be some sort of change, right?  That would make us 1-17 or 1-19.  I would assume that won't be the case but also feel like we're still a few years away from being where we all want to be.

Not a troll. Just using reason.

I want my team to win as much as you do.  I also realize that 4 years is a pecieved span to give a coach to get his system in place and see results.  My only point is that we lost a lot of talent this year and and will be replacing a lot of starters.  Thus, I feel are chances of winning the conference are statistically less than last year, which we didn't win.

So, if we don't win this year, which is reasonable given the circumstances, that will leave next year as the last year in the 4 year period.  James Franklin won the B1G in three years, so did Urban Meyer who also won the NC.   On MGoBlog, People are outraged that I would think that Harbaugh would be held to the same standard.  I guess I don't understand why.

I would think this would be interesting to discuss on this blog.  It's certainly something I've thought about.  But it seems that having a different opinion on here, even when it's not actually offensive or insulting to anyone, is not welcome on MGOBLOG.  Too much tolerance and moral outrage I guess.  No room for discussing different ideas.

You're absolutely right.

When I posted a message on a message board and used the phrase, "don't shoot the messenger" to deflect the hate and outrage of the angry mob but later in the same posted message I used a different phrase about "the ledge" to indicate a possible overreaction on my part as well as to invite reassuring post from others, it became obvious that I clearly don't understand the phrase I used.

I guess I should also feel bad about myself because my independent thoughts are different from other people's opinions.

Wouldn't we have had a better record in our division?

Wuoldn't that have sent us to the championship game?

You're saying that if the highest paid coach in college football

can't win a conference championship in 4 years at a school where money and resources are no object, then it's my fault for having too high of expectations? Despite having the most draft picks (tons of talent) last year?

I realize as well as any person on this board that the 3 losses were razor close games and that sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way, but it's reasonable to have high expectations given the circumstances.

Is 10 wins a year enough to make everyone here happy? A conference championship once in a while?  I really am curious about the average expecatation of MGoBlog.

I've been thinking about this since the bowl game.

I am writing what I've been thinking since the end of last season and there is no need to shoot the messenger.

Last season seemed to be the best chance of winning big.  We sent a record number of player to the NFL.  However, we didn't win big.  We didn't win anything.  Now we enter into a "rebuilding" year in year three.  What are the chances we win the conference this year after losing SO much talent?  Will we beat OSU?  Can we beat PSU? The B1G is more competetive than it has been in years.  Chances are we don't win the Big Ten this year.

That leaves next year which is year four in the Harbaugh era.  If we don't win the conference next year that will make four years of doing nothing.  No national championships.  No conference championships.  Not even a division championship.

The year after that?  Five years?  How long would it take of not winning before people turned on Harbaugh?  How long of a leash would the school give him?

Someone talk me off the ledge.  What is a realistic expectation of success as of today?  How long do you think it will take?  A new O-lone coach will help.  What other changes that we made will accelerate of chance of success?

Get a bike!

I bought my first bike last year and decided on a 1992 Honda Nighthawk 750.  I love it.  It's built like a tank. It's easy to ride. It has all the power you need but not too much. It's a great bike.

Take a class and get your endorsement.  Always wear your gear.  Eveytime I ride my bike someone almost hits me.  Be hype raware and the risk is worth the reward.

It's pretty easy.

Anything involving boobs and/or cockpics and I'm sold.

If you're so worried about the quality of posts,

Perhaps you should do YOUR part and stop posting.

Amen.

.

I watched the game there.

and it was good.

JD = John Denver

He still has a Rocky Mountain high.

I would agree.

As much as we all love Peppers, I think Denards first season starting vs. almost anyone in college football was very impressive.

Absolutely.

Not just as a fan of the football team, I really wish he could have taken that win home with him.  He deserved it.

The emotional and psycholigical toll that he took must have been as great as the physical beating he took.

Gardner is my all time favorite Michigan football player.

He had all the talent and heart but none of the coaching.  He left everything on the field and didn't make excuses.

I wish him every success in life.

Hopefully, his balls turn blue.

And stay blue balls.

Tolerance = Everyone think like I do.

Or else I'll call them names.

I really dislike the white pants.

I also think last years away uniforms look better than the new ones. I think the numbering on the side of the shoulders look better than on top.  Apparantly I'm in the minority but I really don't like what Nike came up with.

The maize pants were a nice contrast to the white jersey and the helmet really set it off.  There are some things from the Lloyd Carr era that I do miss. (Including the NC)

I also just watched Batman vs. Superman

and would wholeheartedly agree.  Jesse Eisenberg ruined the movie. Awful.

Number 2 = Oregon

I like ND's old gold helmet but the new chrome gold looks gaudy.  I also kind of like Maryland's because it's different.

You are not alone.

While white socks were probably pretty cool in the 70's, so were bell-bottoms. I don't want to see either in our modern uniforms. Black shoes with black socks are pretty sweet. Just ask the Fab Five.

I live in Maine.

I like Michigan. Outside of 10 people in this state, NO ONE watches college football.

And pinatas.

So they can have a plethora of pinatas.

Some penicillin will take care of that.

Or so I've heard...

I'm taking a motorcycle class that entire weekend.

I booked the class a while back and it didn't even dawn on me to check the football schedule.

At least I have a DVR.

I live in Maine and would say that the best part of winter

here is the absence of Masshole tourists.  Can't stand them.

That aside, fall here is also awesome.  However, there is no one around here to talk college football with.  That (and high taxes & Massholes) is the worst part of living in New England.

I love Mike Hart and was a student during his time at

Michigan. He was the best running back in his decade.

That being said, Smith's single run was incredible and inspiring at the same time. I would imagine it raised the bar for his teammates.  Awesome.
