I'm a person who always goes against the "Torch and Pitchfork" mob of simpletons. Especially when they begin to invent reasons out of thin air to support their point.

Of course Brandon and Hoke are gone in the near future, but these people are so insecure about it that they need continuous reassurance.

18 dudes with box cutters controlled by some dude in a cave in Afghanistan.  Hijacked and out smarted one of the worlds biggest and most regulated (for safety) industries! O wait...

I don't see much inventing, I see DB himself taking care of that part. I think most people here have awareness of non-sports news and the business world, and have seen the fallout of PR disasters like Comcast's infamous customer service call and see parallels here. It's pretty hard to imagine this not being more wood on the fire. And I mean among those whose opinions will actually factor in to any firing, not just angry fans on Twitter and message boards.

That most (me included) are somewhere in between. It certainly means something. If they had nothing to add...that's significant. Because if they wanted to refute the emails and call them fake, they would have by now.

Also "nothing to add" is very clearly different than "no comment". The latter means nothing, really, one way or the other. The former implies the emails exist.

If Michigan pulls the trigger to fire Brandon because of some bitchy emails and not, you know, all of the other incredibly incompetent and borderline-irrational things he's done in the past couple of years, I'll actually be disappointed in the University.  This is obviously embarrassing, but at best this will be a footnote in this AD's obituary.

It can be a combination of all things.

These emails make it that much easier to let Dave Brandon go as he doesn't even have the business savvy to know not to leave a paper trail of these kinds of messages, not to mention the contempt he shows for people who are frustrated with a mess he created.

I know I keep saying it, but you keep showing up in each thread saying the same things over and over again so it doesn't seem to be getting through to you. I'll keep trying though, because I like Best and Worst and it pains me to see you doing this.

I think that you may be underestimating the local media's desire for readership / clicks.  The fact is that Michigan's disaster of a football program is a story.  Our fanbase and alumni base are huge.  The media knows this and will run stories on the issue just to get some readers / clicks.  Hell, they write daily stories about how Hoke should quit or be fired, despite having nothing new to say.

I don't disagree with you.  I don't think it's much of a story, frankly.

Everyone who matters already knew how Brandon addresses people that don't disagree with him, that he is quick to dismiss opposing views (or not even consider them), that he isn't interested in finding out what students think before crafting a "solution" he sees fit.

He was long gone before this foia stuff.  And for reasons far more germane to the University and the Athletic Department as a whole; ie. the place the athletic department has as a piece of the University for its students, alums and fans, and not as its own Fortune 500 company.

I stand by what I said. And even were I wrong, this does nothing to reach the breaking point. What matters is not that he answers emails at midnight with snark invests and disdain. Everyone already knew that. That said, the breaking point has passed.
