1-2. 1-2. Is this thing on? Has ngenix won? Am I the last survivor left?
META: Mic check
are more survivors!
but, like the survivors of the Titanic, I fear I'm scarred for life after not being able to login for the last several hour. How long before my hands stop trembling???
yo we're good, except the comments got weirdly borked. No idea why, since we just moved servers without touching the DB.
Out of curiosity's sake, what servers are you running? (if you feel comfortable throwing that out there)
I don't have the exact details at my fingertips. The guy who can give you the details is asleep.
And no moderation of comments...
So we can basically have true pos bangs again right? Mathlete fire up Excel, this is going to get messy.
I agree, Make Mathlete do the legwork.
Perfect thing for him to be doing while you're trying to figure out if the site is working properly. Silly server admins. :)
For the record, I still get welcomed to the land of nginx when trying to view mgoblog on Chrome for iPad. App works, at least, as does Safari for iPad.
I hadn't thought of that on iPad (do it fairly frequently on my laptops). Will try it.
Also, i'm sure it's already been noted that our own posts don't show up yellow (or is it maize of some sort?) anymore.
EDIT: clearing the cache seems to have done the trick. Thanks, mang!
I think the addition of the "reply to [comment #]" is a nice touch. It would be better if it actually listed the proper comment # I replied to, though.
I'm guessing that the comment # that is referenced is the original comment # as of the time that comment was originally posted, and as new posts get added to the string those #s change, causing the references to be inaccurate.
Working here, too. I got a 'changing servers' message this morning several times, though. Then it went away. Then it came back. I cleared my history and it's gone for now again (using Firefox).
I still say MGoBlog is missing a huge opportunity by not going with better boards, even VBulletin is better than this. But it appears Brian doesn't really like the boards, so I guess that won't happen.
I can see the board posts, but not the main screen, I am assuming you know this.
This is like the Hunger Games...just waiting for the boom of the cannons
What are these webpages written with? Because an outdated version of PHP or something could throw your mojo off if the pages are written with a version that isn't compatible with the server.
POINTS ARE EVEN MORE TRIVIAL THAN BEFORE, EVERYBODY PANIC
Trivial? I just paid for my butt implant surgery with my MGoPoints.
MgoInflation. its a bitch. its a false economy built on defending himself from people questioning his credentials.
I thought the butt implant allowed him to sit for much longer than the average human, quickly allowing him to recap his point total over the course of several sit down binges?
He needs it to compensate for his big head.
.. seriously though.. and I feel you on the "Living in Ohio Sucks"... I did buy a house that I could at least SEE Michigan from though..
You did hear that they are allowing seat cushions this year right?
What were you implanted into?
I kid. I kid.
My anaconda don't want none
Unless you've got buns, hun
Where's the UPVOTING button??? I was just sure that when I woke up I'd see upvoting and downvoting returned to their glorious, functional past.
I was also sure I'd get a pony this year for Christmas. Struck out there too.
This was not an intended change, we're working on fixing it.
It appears to be in the original post.
the optimist in me thought the same thing...
Wasn't able to post from my Mac yesterday. Also the iPhone app hasn't been functioning correctly the last couple days.
Follow me! Follow me to freedom!
I for one welcome our new nginx overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted MGoBog poster, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in East Lansing singles bars.
I had this nightmare my mgoblog user moderation abilities were stripped. I checked my karma and points and still nothing.
I would love for Brian to utilize better forum software.
Yes, this, +1,000,000. Frankly this is creating a pretty good opening for someone else to make an mgoblog-like site only with better forums. It would be hard to match the quality of Brian's writing, but still.
everything looks different. hold me tomVH!
Brian didn't make the annual human sacrifice to the internet god, clearly.
Please, for the children's sake, remove this filthy image that is a reminder of VERY DARK TIMES.
EDIT: Image cannot be removed since I replied. Joke's on me.

down here in North Carolina.
Never experienced the outage, but was wondering why no posts on the board yesterday afternoon and evening.
It's a shame the moderation capabilities have disappeared because I have seen some of the funniest posts I've seen in a long time this morning and I can't do anything to show my appreciation for them. Damn this new world!
to the new sever side with all points and avatar intact?
And since we are on this META topic and there are fancy and lazing fast servers, what about new forum modules? This one is a bit dated.
Also, points. Is it just a dead issue or do I ever have hope of overtaking Magnus?
Every time someone tries to overtake Magnus he goes on a posting binge and just posts "yup" under a whole bunch of other people's posts.
..the fact that you have 10 less points than i do and you've only been on the site less than 7 months.. I swear I've had 60-70 points for like a year! The MGoMan is holding me down.
That's because points expire one year after the original posting. It's quite possible you have had 60-70 for an entire year
I'm pretty sure they do not expire anymore. That was just under an earlier version of the site.
HERE FOR THE POSBANG
You're in for a rude surprise.
+1 under rated
Are happening on The Blog
...It was crazy.
I can't moderate. How will I ever provide that valuable feedback that some people so richly deserve??
A perfect time to go off message... diplomatic immunity:
I think avatars are stupid, and everyone with an avatar is stupid by association.
Kate Upton is a 2/10.
I read the Free Press religiously.
Speaking of religion, let's talk about religion.
Very well played, Sir.
But you mean, everyone but ME and my avatar, right? RIGHT?? (ahem, Tom Harmon).
that this is still the Internet, where things live forever and can come back to haunt you. I'm making a mental note to discount your future opinions accordingly.
- Avatars are awesome, users without them (as well as users whose usernames are just numbers) make me sad.
- Kate Upton's chesticles are a 10/10. Any other rating done on her overall phsyical beauty is positively affected by this metric.
- I'm over the whole ban the Free Press thing anway...but that's because I realized I don't really read any newspaper (online or otherwise)
- Why not talk about the role of religion in politics?
At least on this laptop, what seems to be all of the moderation buttons that would go in the comments themselves are clustered near the top of the thread, so for now, moderate at your own peril. Well, actually, someone else's peril, as there is probably no way to know whose posts will be affected.
You cant? The rest of us can moderate and the mods have given us all new and enhanced moderation powers that we've collectively unleashed on your post.
You must be under the new MgoCloaking device reserved for "special" posters.....
On an unrelated note, i just started watching the wire, and now certain memes or even mgoUsernames are making sense (e.g. FuzzyDunlop, OmarDontScare)
My girlfriend just stared at me when I shouted out the discovery.
Obligatory "The Wire is the best TV series EVAR" post.
Seriously though, it is.
ships to my house today from netflix. Super jacked.
Serious question: I couldn't decide between Wire and Boardwalk Empire while I'm waiting for Game of Thrones season 3 to come out - so I got 1st disc of each to check them out. What do the fine posters on this thread that have seen both series think? (since i obviously can't start an "OT" post about this haha.
I love them both. I think The Wire is can't miss, though. There is a lot more action episode to episode than in Boardwalk Empire. I also love that each new season of The Wire has a brand new setting and backdrop based on what part of Baltimore life the writers focus on for that particular season.
It makes me feel funny, kinda like climbing the rope in gym class.
I feel as if I've entered a strange, parallel dimension. Everything looks so funny.
Our mission: explore strange, new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before.
The final frontier: MGoBlog.
and the space we're currently in referred to as the Mutara Nebula.
It's the old points system. It's trying to communicate with us.
Seeing Brian's avatar as William Wallace with a Michigan seat cushion is possible the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I'm assuming this is new after the seat cushion ban. First time I've seen it anyways. He doesn't join us bums on the forum often. It's always a treat when he does, and seeing this pic just made my day.
That is all.
Oh, and something looks different this morning but I can't put it together.
Rich Rod, Tommy Amaker and Marty Turco
Did it have to blow up into such a shitty shade of blue?
