MBB vs. Oakland Open Thread

I'm going with BYU, Fresno St. and Ohio. Although Pat Hill does not have a great record in Bowls against non-AQ schools, I think Fresno gets it done today. NIU lost their coach and Fresno's defense seems a little better.

I'd check out Bowl Chronicles at the JCB if you can stomach the TL;DR
Play the Pick-4 as well
I took UTEP, Northern and Ohio

Mich holding Oakland to .59 point per possession that half, which is a ridiculous number considering Oakland's offense has been pretty good so far this year.
December 18th, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
...is former Michigan C Tim McCormick.
December 18th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
And 1984 NIT Champion!!
December 18th, 2010 at 12:56 PM ^
I know we've all said this a million times in the last couple years, but if we could just make a damn 3, we'd be an excellent team. 33% shooting would give us an 11 point lead, 40% would have us up 14. So frustrating, yet tantalizing.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:03 PM ^
the what-if game.
I play it all the time though, and it appears Michigan always seems to be losing in that regard.

In other news, I'm seriously sitting on ESPN's website and watching the box score for the game. I have no effing idea what's happening on the court but methinks it's going well if we take an 8 point lead to the locker room.

Better than nothing and you can pretend you are in the 1930's with the audio only game experience... except for the internet part.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
This is a lot better than nothing. Thank you!

Is any one watching on an "internet-enabled" TV? If so, is it worth it? What brand is the best? etc.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:02 PM ^
Most impressive stat for me is the 21pts, regardless of how it was achieved. That is impressive. Have to keep holding them down and it won't be easy.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:03 PM ^
...lead for M out of the 2nd half gate.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:03 PM ^
Woo-hoo! Smotrycz with a 3
December 18th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
Excellent start to the 2nd half! 36-21, Blue!
December 18th, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
put up 5 quick points.
Slow second half starts are killer.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
7 quick points to start the second half....36-21
December 18th, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
...is pleased. So am I.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
Oooh Baby BABY!
I always forget how fun this team is to watch when they're on.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:07 PM ^
their play flows better, their passing seems better, their defense is A LOT better. As long as they hit shots, they could give teams fits this season...
December 18th, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
Exactly what was needed to start the half...impressive by Beilein
December 18th, 2010 at 1:08 PM ^
it's that he's not sure what he's doing. The guy always seems to understand what's going on on the court and how to fix/improve it. It's just a matter of getting the players to execute.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:11 PM ^
I'm not ripping on Amaker because everyone has different strengths, but this kind of bench coaching was not Tommy's. We now have a coaching advantage during games.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
I remember watcing some of Amaker's squads go through the entire game doing the exact same thing even when it wasn't working at all. I think he was more of a gameplan guy. He'd come up with a pregame strategy, and that was it hell or high water. Worked sometimes, sometimes didn't.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
i don't think he knows what bench coaching is. i just remember sitting on the bench each game chewing his gum. rarely got up to do or say anything. never ever even got on the refs at all.
so glad he's gone.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:10 PM ^
Wow Morris has really developed his outside shot this year.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:11 PM ^
...his 3rd foul and will have to sit.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
for this game: someone has to go at Benson and get him into more foul trouble....
for the season: I just think he will not be able to stay out of foul trouble this season which will really cost them with so many good big men in the big ten
December 18th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
Hardaway with a 3-pt dagger
December 18th, 2010 at 1:18 PM ^
...players who can finish on the break.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:19 PM ^
This is what sports commentators call "killer instinct," I think. Haven't seen that around these parts in quite some time.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:20 PM ^
December 18th, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
"Michigan came on in the second half like Gangbusters"
December 18th, 2010 at 1:23 PM ^
Any chance we crack the top 25 before we get into Big Ten play? With this win today and a probable win again Bryant, we wil be sitting at 10-2 going into a home game against Purdue. I realize that we really havn't beaten anyone thus far, but 10-2 is still a nice start. Thoughts?
December 18th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
I think we'll be unranked until we have some type of "upset" victory.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
...first.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
MSU is only 7-3 and they're 15th, but I don't know if we'll have the reputation to get ranked even with our record.
December 18th, 2010 at 4:43 PM ^
MSU is only 7-3, but look at the teams they have lost to. Different situtation than UM at 10-2
December 18th, 2010 at 1:23 PM ^
How did Oakland get the ball on that? It looked like Morris bounded the ball off an OU player's shoe.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
...beast mode on that defensive possession. Just think what he'll be able to do when he puts on another 20 lbs.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
he'll be able to hold onto more rebounds.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
Oh noes, Morris limping a teensy bit. How soon do the "He'll never last through the B10 season" rumors start?
December 18th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
Bizarre jockey metaphor...
December 18th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
CLINIC!
December 18th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
Quick summary anyone? Is our defense playing that well or have they missed some makeable shots? Any individual heroes?
December 18th, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
They've shot dismally, but a lot of it is because we're forcing them into some tough shots. Some open threes haven't gone down for them though.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
This is really upsetting that espn3 on my xbox is showing a 26 point blowout instead of my wolverines!
December 18th, 2010 at 1:35 PM ^
You can select what game you want to watch, it doesnt lock you into a specific game.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
Oakland is 4-16 in the second half.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:45 PM ^
Novak needs to stop leaving his feet without knowing what he's going to do with the ball. He's turned it over at least 3 times doing that today.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:32 PM ^
...the backdoor cut and score by Hardaway. Great pass by Morgan.
