Can confirm. Graduated with Masters from Michigan and this is the first time in my life it's happened.

As a Lions fan you can always count on one thing. If they are going to have a horrible record/season they will at least beat a few teams they have NO business beating.
This is the "fun" part of the Lions season. Expectations are non existant, any wins are pleasant surprises.
November 15th, 2015 at 4:54 PM ^
2008 must not have any games they had no buisness winning,
November 15th, 2015 at 5:00 PM ^
Correct. In 2008 the Lions had the talent and coaching to beat every single team that year. They just got upset 16 times straight.

And then they're picking 6th in the draft.
November 15th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
YEAH!!!! BABY!!!!! Love it!!!! This is what happens when you play as if you don't care. They almost messed up LIONS' style. Glad they won. Now go win the division (dream!!!!!)
November 15th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
I wouldn't say the Lions won so much as GB lost. Rodgers looked horrible today. And if you miss 2 extra points and boof an onside kick recovery, can you really say you won?
November 15th, 2015 at 4:54 PM ^
There is something to what you are saying, but the Packers terrible offense and special teams gaffes mean they earned the loss.
Both teams had crucial gaffes. The Packers poor special teams coverage on the 2nd half KO, the Lions two missed extra points and Calvin's mishandle of the onside kick, and then Crosby's horrid FG kick. It's hard to believe that these guys are professionals with all these high school-level errors.

Fuck the Packers.
November 15th, 2015 at 4:56 PM ^
Wins and loses are decided by the score at the end of the game.
November 15th, 2015 at 5:00 PM ^
This is NFL. It is not like Lions can't win games. They almost beat Seattle at Seattle if not for that bad call. Lions just shoot themselves in the foot (and they are terrible).
Lions missed two PAT. The onside kick recovery is pure luck. GB couldn't convert on 2-pt conversion. Must be a GreenBay fan. I am sure Aaron "double Check" Rodgers will "calm you down".
Greenbay is not good this year. Just accept it and move on.
November 15th, 2015 at 5:04 PM ^
I am definitely not a Green Bay fan. I am a Lions fan who tries his hardest to deal with the constant disappointment that the Lions provide.
Also I'd hardly call the missed onside kick "pure luck". It was essentially a jump ball that went right to our best receiver, and then went right through his hands. That was a choke.
November 15th, 2015 at 5:10 PM ^
Sorry. Didn't know you are a Lions' fan. Missing out on a onside kick is not a choke. GB was pretty lucky to recover it. It is worse than a fumble and chances of recovering it has to be low. I don't have stats to back it up, but I have seen many of them and I don't remember this being recovered that often.
November 15th, 2015 at 5:27 PM ^
So when the Lions make a mistake, it's a choke, but when Green Bay does, it's just Rodgers "looking horrible." Got it.
November 15th, 2015 at 5:44 PM ^
Not sure what you're trying to say here. Rodgers did look horrible. Would you like to argue differently? Calvin did choke, considering everyone expects a HOF caliber receiver to catch a ball that hits him in the hands. Would you like to argue differently? If it makes you feel better, the Packers choked on that last FG attempt (whatever the hell happened there).
November 15th, 2015 at 7:03 PM ^
In arguing the Lions didn't really win, you cite their mistakes while refusing to give them credit for causing Packer mistakes. That doesn't make a lot of sense, and that's what Stu (and the horde of downvoters) seems to be pointing out.
November 15th, 2015 at 7:15 PM ^
I guess I didn't notice the Lions doing anything to cause those mistakes. Rodgers was simply missing throws he usually makes, not even just missing open receivers but an inability to throw receivers open that he typically does with ease. I guess the Lions run defense was solid and their special teams made a huge play to set up a TD, but overall I saw the Packers screwing up more on their own accord. Even the missed FG at the end wasn't blocked, simply shanked (or might've hit the hand of the holder). So if people want to neg and argue with me about this then fine, but it's not like the Lions played a good game or anything.
November 15th, 2015 at 7:40 PM ^
On that key 2 point play, Lions actually blitzed Rodgers and he was not on target. The CB or Saftey made a good play knocking the ball out of the WRs hand. I think the point is you so desparately want to say that Lions should not have won that game because they are such a screw up. I get it. Lions suck and we all know. But this one game, may be they made a few plays to disrupt GB. This is my last post to you. I am done arguing. You are so mad at Lions that you cannot believe they actually won and it MUST BE BECAUSE PACKERS HAVE DONE INCREDIBLY STUPID THINGS.
November 15th, 2015 at 8:11 PM ^
I don't get mad at the Lions anymore. I used to, then realized it just wasn't worth it to get emotionally invested in this team. I'll admit when the Lions played a good game. They did so against Chicago and got the win. I don't think they played a good game today and had a number of typical Lions screw ups that should've cost them. Fortunately they didn't.
November 15th, 2015 at 4:54 PM ^
Last win in GB was in 1991
November 15th, 2015 at 4:56 PM ^
Are you sure? I don't recall them mentioning that at all during the game broadcast...
November 15th, 2015 at 5:00 PM ^
That't what the notification from my ESPN app told me, so I'm just going by that.
November 15th, 2015 at 5:02 PM ^
Somewhere I'd have a Brock Huard...offensive pass interference/DBs allowed to "hand fight" joke if I took the time to think of one.
Oh...and if you wondered what IU should've done from the 4th quarter on. One word..."run."
November 15th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHARBAUGH!
I'm always amazed at what lengths the Lions will go to try to lose a game. Unfortunately, Green Bay just wouldn't let them.

That's kinda the point. Hence the "rest of the season" comment above it.

I was a freshman watching the game in Mary Markley room 6235 on a 13" black and white tv. We didn't have cable in the dorms back then. Cocaine Wayne was all bundled up like a walrus as the game was in December if I recall.
November 15th, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
this is why the coaching staff needs to go...you are telling me this team couldn't win more games ...or....lose correctly for high picks when they are out of the playoff hunt a half a season in....
November 15th, 2015 at 5:13 PM ^
I am with you. If they won two games with Megatron and Tate, then that coaching staff is ineffective and need to go. If they give Megatron to Tom Brady and Patriots, they will put up 50 points on every team.
