With NIL in play for all players, it's not really a "bag" any more, is it?  Maybe now we can drop the word and its negative connotation, e.g., illegality, violation of "NCAA rules" (oxymoron?), tax evasion, etc. If a player wants to understand what NIL might provide, it's his prerogative.

Jadyn Davis seems like a long shot all of a sudden.

Drogosch would be a great add now. And really should not affect JD.

Wilson seems like a full court press time if JD is sending Harbaugh mixed signals.  It might be time to say to JD we have to do what’s best for Michigan. Where do we stand?

I this day and age going after a future NFL QB in the portal is not out of the question when the need is there.

As long as it’s still January, I think UM is still fine. If he’s pushing another month, that’s worrisome. There was a lot of speculation about his commitment date. First, it was reported he would sign in February. Then analysts said it would be after his high school career ended. Changed to the end of the year, and is now a few more weeks. If he’s still planning on January, shouldn’t be too much of an issue. If it pushes out longer, might be more worrisome. But best believe, you’ll see Suckeyes rev up the $$ engine along with Clemson. NIL will be a factor but not as big as most will think.

What's Michigan's record on 4 and 5* recruits that commit after the early signing date (for kids with the Michigan hat "on the table" early on)?  I gather from my hazy memory that it's not all that great.

I think Rashan Gary was one of them.  And a huge one.  But beyond Gary, not sure who else.  Sure, we've had an unexpected surprise a couple times from someone that we didn't expect to commit.  But kids that are committed or warm to Michigan usually commit by early signing date, or they go elsewhere.

Am I way off base here?

At my advanced age I can safely say that if I had a chance to be a sought after recruit I would have fun with it. Some fan bases would never forgive me.
