Yay that our rival doesn't get a blue chip O lineman. Will we get him?
Thread created for TdK71 per his posting in the "Mike Martin still kicking OSU Butt" thread.
January 24th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
yes.I believe we will get him and Garnett
January 24th, 2012 at 4:55 PM ^
It'd be huge if we got either Garnett or Diamond, let alone both. Please God, make this happen.
January 24th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
A 5* OL, what do we need 2 more for?
January 24th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
...where Hoke and Borges unveiled the plans for the "Super Awesome Offensive Line". The point is key.
January 24th, 2012 at 6:57 PM ^
...300 pound tight ends and slot receivers.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:04 PM ^
is 300% more awesome.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:38 PM ^
Probably 200% more awesome, but I'm with you.

awesomeness behaves in a non-linear fashion
January 24th, 2012 at 5:22 PM ^
But I love a weak link on an offensive line. Someone to get beat on every play.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:43 PM ^
How else are we going to see Denard/Devin scramble? I'm with ya man.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:42 PM ^
Because we need 5 offensive lineman every offensive snap of the game. If we get more... put him at fullback as a lead blocker.
January 24th, 2012 at 6:42 PM ^
To crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and hear the lamentations of their fans.
January 24th, 2012 at 7:44 PM ^
Best. Reply. Ever.
January 24th, 2012 at 6:45 PM ^
I would like to have a plethora of 5* OL who will treat Buckeye DL and LBs like pinatas.
January 24th, 2012 at 7:45 PM ^
Like donkeys
January 25th, 2012 at 12:24 PM ^
Hey, why couldn't it happen? Tigers got Fielder, so anything is plausible.
YES, we CAN get both,... btw, anyone check DGB recently to see if he hasn't included us? (where is Shock we need a DGB update!)

Michigan gets Diamond and Garnett, Dantonio gets a player named Pyrite, that's the way of the world.
January 25th, 2012 at 1:58 AM ^
...Goddamn...God...da..
+1 for pyrite.
January 25th, 2012 at 4:58 AM ^
I'm starting to think it will be an either or situation with Diamond and Garnett. With making his announcement a few days after national signing day is Diamond wanting to see what all O linemen actually sign with U of M? Even with Caleb Stacey decommiting that's still a lot of competition for a few roster spots.
January 24th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
Keep the momentum rolling our way for these final spots -- that's great news!
January 24th, 2012 at 4:52 PM ^
this makes me very happy. if we cannot have him, at least ohio can't.
January 24th, 2012 at 4:55 PM ^
Apparently you didn't read the thread. OSU doesn't want him after his visit. They're getting Dodson. Even though Dodson has said he's most likely going out of state.
January 24th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
Unfortunately we see many similar posts on here after targets go elsewhere.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:05 PM ^
Haha, yeah we all play that game. But I shall still enjoy pointing out the ridiculous in this case.
January 24th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
You can't fire me. I quit!

I truly appreciate the Post and Posbang. When I saw that I immediately thought "What !?! How great is that Spermin Meyer's not getting his coffee today! ;-)
January 24th, 2012 at 6:52 PM ^
I think names like "Spermin" are frowned on around here. Something about RCMB and all that. I would probably not use that too many more times. Just a heads up.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:23 PM ^
Thanks for the heads up!
January 24th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
The thread title made my stomach sink for half a second because I didn't read "drops".
January 24th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
If you go to 11w, it seems like OSU doesnt want him. They do say something about it would take a large price. Was that even me? They need tackles.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:01 PM ^
The original article indicated OSU hadn't talked to Diamond since his visit. Probably confident in Dodson, or there was something about him they didn't like.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:07 PM ^
Thanks, I thought at first they were implying something else. I hope Dodson goes to Wisky.
January 25th, 2012 at 1:58 AM ^
or, far more likely, he wasnt showing interest.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:09 PM ^
OSU knows that Diamond wasn't going to pick them and was likely headed to Michigan. Rather than lose a recruiting battle to Michigan, they just basically forfeited instead.
January 24th, 2012 at 6:49 PM ^
For better or worse, Meyer is a relentless recruiter. I can assure you that the fear of losing a recruiting game with Michigan would not deter him from going after a recruit. Heck, he had/has no problem trying to go after Kalis and Dymonte - and they are about as solid to Michigan as it gets.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
but you can't make him answer the phone.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:14 PM ^
OSU reacts that way about every recruit OSU doesn't get
January 24th, 2012 at 5:29 PM ^
Yeah, the fanbase for sure. But, I thought it was one fo 11w's writers or contributors. That is kind of irresponsible. Ace or TomVH, when here, would never write that about a recruit.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:55 PM ^
Sounds like they think Diamond wants money. There was a thread on the 247 boards about it. Almost guaranteed that it's complete bullshit.
January 24th, 2012 at 6:00 PM ^
Almost?
January 25th, 2012 at 8:56 AM ^
they'd find a way to handle that in Columbus.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:01 PM ^
Hypothetical question: Would we be able to take Garnett, Diamond and Kozan should they all commit?
January 24th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
It is unlikely that we get them all, but we would accept commitments from them all if they wanted to join the squad.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:04 PM ^
Yes, especially with Stacey no longer in the fold. Kozan can play center, which is where Stacey would play.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:06 PM ^
If Hoke and company wanted to take them all....
January 25th, 2012 at 10:00 AM ^
Yeah, and a follow-up question:
For OL more than other positions, isn't there more of an incentive for solid recruits to join one another in terms of looking good for future NFL prospects, and be part of a stellar unit, rather than being the big fish in a little pond (ie the STAR RB or WR)?
If that's the case, shouldn't the signing of one star recruit on OL catalyze the signing of others?
And shouldn't there be an incentive for a recruit to, once committed to a program, sell the program to other OL prospects MORESO than other positions?
And if that's the case, shouldn't there be motivation for OL prospects to commit ASAP so they can get on with recruiting OTHER top OL to their program, and thus improve their OWN prospects of being part of a stellar OL unit, and hence improve their future NFL incomes?
Or am I missing something?
Just wondering.
January 24th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
Apparently something soured OSU on Diamond. I hope that after Dodson flips to OSU it doesn't matter who dumped who, because we've moved on. OSU and UofM clearly are head and shoulders above the rest of the B1G in recruiting this year, and I like it that way.
