Is that threshold higher for Buckeye fans that post here? Asking for a friend.

There are some irrational

There are some irrational fans that have lashed out against Herman unnecessarially. Should he have run Hyde more against MSU? Probably. But would we have been undefeated playing MSU in the B1G Championship game without him? Probably not.

I have no complaints about OSU's offense under Herman/Meyer/Warriner. And I think Herman is a huge part of that. The tempo is what Meyer went to Herman for. Herman was Meyer's hand picked guy and made him promise to stick around 2 years knowing that Herman would get job offers and want to take them. Herman stuck around this year because he wanted to finish what he started with Braxton.

Urban made Tom sign up for at least 2 years if he was going to be his OC. Tom stuck around this year because he wanted to finish what he started with Braxton. I don't know if Braxton will actually come back next year or not, I'm still skeptical. But I'm even more doubtful Herman sticks around, even if Braxton does.

Several teams have made a run at Herman in the off seasons. I think he probably needs to go be a HC somewhere a bit smaller first, then work his way to the Power 5 level. You might be able to get him cheap because he has no HC experience.

I'd be very scared of Michigan being run by Tom Herman because I think he's going to be a great HC. I see what he continues to do with our offense and he has great connections in Texas that has gotten us some great Texas recruits, including JT Barrett. I do wonder how much of our offensive improvement is do to the Co-OC Warriner, but I know Herman is the QB coach and Braxton and JT have both improved greatly under him.

Like personally or from 11W or what?

So instead of Mike, teach me

So instead of Mike, teach me how to Dougie, it's Dougie, teach me how to Mike?

Buckeye POV

So J.T. Barrett...

I don't expect him to be as good as Braxton, but I don't expect the offense to be much different. Braxton is quicker and obviously more experienced so there will be more mistakes/TOs/etc. and fewer broken plays that turn into 15 yrd gains because our freak RB of a QB took off running. But it will help that he's been taking snaps in place of Braxton all summer. He red-shirted and was an early enrollee so he should know the offense.

We had some games on the schedule that scared me with Braxton: Navy is a test for any team because of their option offense and blocking schemes; Cincy is an in-state one-sided rivalry with them having everything to prove and nothing to lose, new coach, etc.; VTech has a good defense and plays Beemerball, mistake free and capitalize on other team's errors.

We could still ride the season undefeated, honestly. But we could have lost 2 games with Braxton. I'm still excited for the season.

There is football this weekend

Sam Houston plays Eastern Washington this Saturday, why wouldn't you be watching that, slacker? It's on red turf!

What the Hell

So I'm an MSU grad and an OSU fan and I've only attended two games at the Big House and after I tell you which ones, you'll be lining up to give me your tickets to attend many more.

'04 MSU - 3OTs, Braylon Edwards, 17pt comeback. I was actually getting a ride from a Michigan fan who forced me to leave early at the beginning of the 4th. I ditched her mid-walk to the car and said I'd find my own way back home as I ran back to the stadium. A very kind security guard let me back in and I found my way to the lower bowl endzone to watch what I have to admit was a magical game. I love the first hand experice of watching the fans in those kind of games.

'08 Wisconsin - Never thought I'd see a bigger comeback than I did in '04, just kept repeating that in various forms as the game unfolded. Not sure this one is a good memory for Michigan fans or not, beginning of the current slump and all on one hand, great game and great coming out party for Rich Rod though.

I went to Europe in the

I went to Europe in the summer of 2004 from late May to the end of June and didn't even know what EuroCup was until a week into the group stage matches. Every night, no matter what country we were backpacking through at the moment, you could find a bar/pub (most likely an Irish one, run by Irish immigrants) that was full of people watching. The Irish Pubs had the added advantage of having lots of English speakers inside. Every night we made friends to become fans of a team. We sang the Polish national anthem with some old drunks from outside Warsaw in Rome. We had an English lass flash us to get our support for The Three Lions over the Germans while we were in Madrid. I was hooked on soccer from then on. I watched the 2006 World Cup in my dorm room while taking summer classes. I watched 2010 games while I should have been studying more for the bar exam. What a fabulous ride it's been and I look forward to 2018 with the bright future it appears we have.

Spielman Love Around Here

I was trying to find a former UofM player that OSU fans love like some UofM fans love Spiels, only thing I can come up with is Barry Larkin.

What was the goalie even

What was the goalie even complaining about?

I think Fickell would be

I think Fickell would be perfect for the Miami (NTM or YTM I'm not even sure around here anymore which Ohio or Miami is ever being talked about) head coaching job. Go to a MAC school for a few years, cut your teeth, go to a BCS school and get paid, then come back to OSU when you have some good experience as a head coach.

I believe he was kept on when Meyer came in because a) he was being rewarded for stepping up in 2011 b) he helped keep some consistency and information about the current roster and c) he and Vrabro were pretty much a package deal, which I'll be interested to see if Vrabs leaves with him when he goes as I think Meyer and Vrabel have developed a bro-mance now too.

Well, I'd say you take about

Well, I'd say you take about $5-10 million off the top for attorney's fees. Then you pay named plaintiffs a little more. Then the other 250,000 will end up with a check for $40 and coupon for 20% off their next purchase of an EA Sports game.

Secondary Violations

I just want to throw it out there that talking to a recruit on a message board or tweeting at him, especially with "GoBlue" could be considered a secondary violation under NCAA contact rules. I say this because we had a recruit visiting the 11W forums and getting lots of upvotes and comments and it raised a call from the compliance office. Just something to keep in mind, I know there is a fine line.

As a frequenter of both sites

As a frequenter of both sites I find things I like and don't like about each. It is true that you have to keep up around here with the inside jokes or you will be lost reading not just the comments but the front page posts. 11W does have a point system now, you have to be a registered member to see it and you have to have 100 pts to vote and up/down votes do effect your totals, unlike here where only mods can move your points up or down.

I think both sites have their good and bad commenters and I think it's way more easy to notice the worst of the worst, especially the less time you spend on the site.

As to Hoke vs. Meyer, I feel like it's in your group of friends who get married and the one guy has a super hot model type wife, and your other friend has a girl next door nice pretty wife. All the guys openly know and have to admit they're totally jealous and are attracted to the super hot wife, but the other guy is happy in his marriage and really everyone kind secretly finds her attractive too. If they both are happy and satisfied, great, everyone should be jealous of both of the guys.

Well yeah, you write to your

Well yeah, you write to your audience. But also OSU coaches' 2nd year doesn't really have a consistent pattern and Hoke's 3rd year isn't a large sample size.

As an OSU fan, you guys

As an OSU fan, you guys scared me coming into this game, and really going out of it too. I think you'll curb stomp us in Ann Arbor. That said, you guys need to grow up a little to make a deep tourney run. Winning away from home and closing out games is an aquired skill of experienced teams. You guys aren't very deep, but you don't foul and it doesn't become an issue. If you can stay clean even in aggressive games on the road, you'll do very well.

If some of your guys that are Sophs and Juniors decide to come back next year, look out. Unfortunately I think the NBA will be quite the draw and Burke almost left last year (which I'm not sure makes him more likely to go after this year or not.)

If superconferences lead to

If superconferences lead to leaving the NCAA, does that make them better or worse in your eyes? Discuss!

The previous Pro-Combats have

The previous Pro-Combats have not featured the helmet stickers and I would venture to guess these will not either. That's purely a guess based on history.

I agree that I prefer my team

I agree that I prefer my team to wear consistent uniforms throughout a season. But I know the reality of the situation is that Nike and the school make a lot of money from sales when you change the jersey up even a little bit. Also, the players seem to like it and recruits love it. However, I absolutely hate with a burning passion that we wear them against UofM. I want to see the winged helments clashing with the silver bullets full of Buckeye leaves earned throughout the season. Any other game, I'd be 100% behind these "alternative" "uniforms" But I guess that's part of the marketing plan, to rile up fans like us on blogs and message boards to get people talking about it more.

Why don't we get a seat at

Why don't we get a seat at the table man. The fans are the ones getting F'd the most. They ought to appreciate us, because without us there is nothing. No one would pay you to play hockey if no one watches it. And you can't make money off the players if the fans hate you.

I have told myself up til now, maybe naively, that they'd settle this thing by now. "The Winter Classic means too much to everyone to let it die" I thought. Now it's really sinking in that we may go another year of my life without hockey. The NHL continually shooting itself in the foot. Hockey fans are die-hards, and it's hard to get new people involved in it. The Winter Classic exposes the NHL to so many new potential hockey fans.

GOD! Can you tell I'm upset about this?! Detroit-Toronto Alumni game...GONE!

Get a deal done!!

Braxton Miller being on that

Braxton Miller being on that list is not notable?

So the logic here is that

So the logic here is that because Central fans are cheering for another team, State fans must be hypocrits?

I'm a Buckeye fan who lived

I'm a Buckeye fan who lived my high school years outside of Ann Arbor, worked for the city during the summers and spent a lot of time on and around campus. I used to wear my Archie jersey to Mr. Spots and would joke with the guys that they were going to spit on my sandwhiches. I've seen it all from the crude to the cordial. I think it varies across many factors, but the biggest are the people who went to school, are planning on going to school and the ones who never could have gone to UofM. I never attended OSU but I am a lifelong Buckeye fan because of several of my family members having gone there and I grew up in Ohio before moving to MI my freshmen year of HS. So I don't judge the so often dubbed "Walmart Wolverines" because I could be considered by some as the OSU equivalent. I think there is a difference between "Walmart" fan-hood and fanhood of someone who didn't necessarially attend the school but cheers for them, like my situation. It's not like I jumped a bandwagon only because of proximity or apparel at a department store.

I think there are students and fans in Ohio that grew up much more influenced by the Woody Hayes legendary mentality of violent hatred of, not just UofM, but all things from "That State Up North." The stories of Woody punching a ref over a call in The Game and even more stories of him screaming at his own players when they lost or were losing to the Wolverines inspired a generation of fans to also act out violently towards Michigan and its fanbase. Then my generation grew up with that generation as their parents. Therefore a lot of them have a violent hatred instilled in them from birth.

I think I grew up with a hatred, not so much so violent, of UofM because of my family all being from the Woody and post-Woody generation. When I moved up here, I was knowledgable and I have a good sense of humor. So I was able to hold my own against real fans and difuse the more crass ones by being able to take a joke and dish a few of my own out. My hatred has certainly waned in the past 10-15yrs of living in MI. I've learned to separate the State of MI and even the university itself from the sports teams. This is because a) I have lived here and therefore can't hate the state too much, b) have degrees from other schools and cheer for OSU, thus I understand the separation from the teams and the school (which I hope we can all learn in light of the recent PSU scandal) and c) the UofM hospital has saved the lives of a few of my family members and friends.

Last I checked, Joe Paterno's

Last I checked, Joe Paterno's good name was not an enumerated liberty for which due process protection must be afforded. None of the Paterno's have been deprived of due process in any way. They have no actionable cause. They are only wasting money. Money that they will need as none of the have jobs or job prospects and are likely going to themselves be sued in civil court.

It seems to me everyone who

It seems to me everyone who is against Twitter is only against it because they:

1) have some preconceived bias against twitter simply because Kim Kardasian uses it

2) want to give you money more than they want to take the 25 seconds to get a twitter account

3) didn't intially understand the things you just explained and now shouldn't be against it.

So, I vote, try Twitter and if it doesn't win everyone over in the first few weeks, start the process of developing a custom system to be tested during basketball season for next year.

Audio discussion

I actually think an audio discussion is a great idea, but not as open on the live blog to all the commenters. If say Brian/Ace/Heiko/Seth/etc. in some combo were watching the games and doing a live audio broadcast and were watching the live chat to take questions and provide better commentary than the actual commentators, that would be awesome.

This one baffled me. Kid

This one baffled me. Kid seems to want to come to OSU (tho not enough to commit quite yet, which may be the telling tale in itself), grew up an OSU fan, is the #1 RB, we have a spot for him and then we tell him "Thanks, but no thanks" all of the sudden? I mean, we need a lot of offensive talent, but RB we are pretty solid, so that's my only explanation is that Urban wants another WR more than he wants the #1 RB. I wish the kid the best of luck. And if he commits to UofM this weekend, I'm totally claiming it was out of spite. (I'm just kidding there if it wasn't clear).

Cool story, Bro alert:

I was once a young naive traveller and bought some "Cubans" overseas. I brought them back and within a month tobacco beetles had ruined my entire humidor. Gotta be careful with fakes.

But yeah, a Cuban Cohiba or Montecristo #2 are worth paying for and smoking once. Dominican cigars are often better and improving by the year.

Bringing back Cubans, if you must, is a risk but like others said, it is possible. If you take the wrappers off, there is no way to know they are Cuban and can't be taken from you. I've brought back some before and told customs I had them and not gotten a second look, of course once was the time they were fake and maybe the customs people assume that more often than not that they are fake.

Ok, so I want to start off by saying I love these comics. Then I wanna say, I'll be the first to admit there are OSU fans out there like this that will argue you to death even though you guys won this year/hold the overall record/etc. And I know every fan base has a stereotype and there are fans that fall outside of that stereotype. You gotta admit that there are UofM fans out there that are the same way, saying, "Well look at the overall record," even in years we won. But I will respect those fans a hell of a lot more than the ones (talking OSU and/or UofM) that disappear in a year of a loss to the rival. You still gotta represent your fandom and support your team, even when they lose. Suck it up and admit you were bested on the field on that fateful November Saturday.

I have yet to bill a damn hour yet today, gotta slog through to get home, my dad's up visiting from Ohio. Gonna try to get some landscaping done, cross things off the wife's do-to list. I thought about writing a diary on here today after I saw CRex's epic stories, I have a few funny ones I think would entertain some people on here, even though they come from a Buckeye fan.
