James Ross beast mode!
I'd never heard of Cinemagram before I saw this, but this is awesome. I believe that's Dan Gibbs he destroys, then takes on Drake Johnson for the tackle.
Having trouble with the embed, so here's the link.
I am excite!
EDIT: Figured out the embed. Not sure why it's so small though.
EDIT #2: I wanted to capture this in an image, so I got a freeze-frame. I didn't notice Gibbs' leg in Ross' crotch before this.
Not sure this so much bodes well for Ross as it bodes poorly for Gibbs. But, I'll still take it.
Ha! That's the trouble with Spring Practice - if someone does well, we don't know how to interpret it.
is good. Clearly Gibbs is practicing his "fake like you're blocking LB but actually falling back and undercutting the rushing DE" maneuver. Excellently played all around. A+++ would practice again.
First, with the incoming OL classes we have, I don't think anyone will be relying on Gibbs to contribute any time soon.
Second, there's no way a mediocre LB does that. Ross' quickness really shines on that play, because there's no power in that punch if he doesn't use his quick legs to propel it
It actually looks like he's only using one of his legs to provide that power. The left is really only providing balance
Yeah pretty impressive punch, hell, he almost de-cleted him. Dude has some power.
amirite?!
shoe-shivering sh*t right there.
Not sure this so much bodes well for Ross as it bodes poorly for Gibbs. But, I'll still take it.
still not sure eh?
The rare 2x2 post. Exquisite.
IT'S A DOUBLE DOUBLE POST
Like McGary, it took awhile before this blog got its first double double.
by the seismic shock generated by that Ross hit!
great googamoogum!
Not sure it means much for either of them but it is cool to look at.
Not sure this so much bodes well for Ross as it bodes poorly for Gibbs. But, I'll still take it.
Please
Jeez, Gibbs was a preferred walk on. He shouldn't be getting blown up like that by a linebacker.
Yeah...I don't think he's much of a threat to play anytime soon. He's always had a hard time staying low, and that's generally something you either have or you don't.
I'll take it, but with the caveat that I believe it bodes better for Ross than it does for Gibbs.
This is possibly the weirdest string of comments I've seen in a thread.
I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.
In Ohio, no less.
My word, that was hilarious. And weird. I don't think I got a single one of their references, but I couldn't stop from laughing.
aw man neg bangs... those were the days.
"Pad level" and "low man wins."
first thought. That being said, you would think he wouldn't have went down as quickly as he did. I think this is probably a 50/50 split between good play by one person and bad play by the other. Still fun to watch though.
This appears to be more about "physics" than any one players individual talent. This is why you get low!
the power of staying lower and getting leverage.
Edit: Beaten by a few seconds.
pad level for a freshman lineman being poor? you dont say!
the reactions of the players in the background when Ross demolishes Gibbs? Almost as fun to watch as the hit itself.
damn you. literaly must've got this in less than 59 seconds before me.
Anyway, yeah. FEET stomping.
But I couldn't take my eyes off the hit. So..no.
I'd love to see the before and after.
The best part of this is the dude getting excited in the background and stomping his feet
You have my answer for breakout player of 2013.
Jerald Robinson?
This is better than the Clowney hit. Clowney destroyed a kid 80 lbs lighter than himself. Ross just blew up an offensive lineman who probably outweighed him by 80 lbs.
It looks like Gibbs forgot to bring his feet.
Ross brought his instead.
