Iowa Signs Marketing Deal With Anheuser-Busch
Under the agreement approved this month by the university's athletic department, the Tigerhawk may now appear alongside Anheuser-Busch beer logos, such as Budweiser, Busch, Michelob and Natural Light, on retail displays and promotional giveaways.
Iowa is putting all the money into their booze awareness fund. Which of course lets them claim somewhat of a moral high ground on this and of course free up the money from the general fund that was previously supporting booze awareness. I'm not a big fan of this move and hopefully we don't follow suit.
This makes totals sense. That’s where all the grain to make the beer comes from, good ole’ Iowa farms.
Yes because everyone is familiar with the endless barley fields in Iowa.....
Can you buy beer at some college athletic venues, or is it against NCAA rules? I seem to remember that in some places you can, but I don't remember any specific instances.
I think they serve beer at USC games,
2004 was the last season when beer was sold in the Coliseum. It was a bit of a clusterfuck when they did it (crazy lines, easy to bribe workers to ignore the 2 per person limit, etc.) but it was still a lot calmer than the following season when I remember seeing a lot more passing out and puking in the aisles by students who had overcompensated to make up for the lack of in-stadium booze.
The Carrier Dome in Syracuse is on-campus and sells beer throughout.
And it's $5 for a Blue or Blue Light.
I love the Dome.
Anyone who lived through the Kragthorpe years in Louisville would understand why they serve beer at the stadium.
I've been to WVU's stadium, and I don't remember beer being sold there, but that means nothing. I went to the Syracuse-Michigan game back in '99 in Syracuse, and they sold beer there, but I think the Carrier Dome is technically off campus.
I think that rule only applies to NCAA playoff events. In the regular season I think it's up to the school, but most choose not to sell alcohol.
... sells beer at volleyball matches, as well as some killer garlic fries- both provided by Gordon Biersch.
You can definitely drink beer and liqour at UNLV Football and Basketball games. Oh, Baseball too! We drink at every event in Vegas though!
I thought Iowa was "If you don't love it, leave it" regarding America... Too bad Anheuser-Busch is owned by the Belgians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anheuser-Busch_InBev
Anheuser-Busch InBev's brand portfolio includes highly popular beer and soft drinks brands. The company classifies three most famous and important beers as global brands: Beck's Stella Artois Budweiser Other brands include: Spaten Franziskaner Hasseröder Löwenbräu Quilmes Brahma Labatt Alexander Keith's Bass Busch Guaraná Antarctica Rolling Rock Jupiler Harbin Brewery Goose Island Leffe Hoegaarden Hertog Jan Dommelsch Oranjeboom Staropramen Michelob Natural Ice Kokanee Presidente BagBier Кlinskoe Sibirskaya Korona Tolstyak Premier Rifyey O'Doul's Shock Top
"Rolling Rock - From the glass lined tanks of Old Latrobe, we tender this premium beer for your enjoyment as a tribute to your good taste. It comes from the mountain springs to you."
"33"
How anyone could not include that on any list of the world's most important beers is beyond me.
....from some of the better-known beers on this list, it may be Bass (although arguments could be made for a few of these).
On the back of an Inbev-sponsored shirt: "Yes, 8-5 in 2010, 7-6 in 2011, we realize you may want 'a little bit of better'."
Don't give Dave Brandon ideas.
Steers and.............. Beers?
Call me a beer snob, but wouldn't Iowa want the Official Beer of the University of Iowa (tm) to be, uh, you know, palatable?
Yeah, and they should want it to taste well too.
I highly doubt anyone will drink more because of it, some might switch beers but that is about it.
Why in hell is the Iowa Hawkeyes logo called the "Tigerhawk?"
caus it sounds so f'ing badass!
..I can't believe Beavis and Butthead are like 20 years old already. Seems like just yesterday.
