I currently live in Atlanta, GA and Stone Mountain State Park has a laser lightshow that re-enacts the Civil War every weekend. On the mountain, they bring a carving (similar to Mount Rushmore) of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis to life as they battle on. This ends by Robert E. Lee breaking his sword, the shards of which unify to become the southern states while they blast "The South will Rise Again". Everyone goes crazy. Correction: everyone is crazy. |

Went to an MSU basketball game in 2001 and Magic Johnson was sitting a few rows behind us. I was 14 and with my parents (MSU grads). He was signing autographs during halftime so I decided I'd go up there and ask for one. He asked me "What's your name?", to which I replied "Alex". He said "Ellis?", I said "No, Alex". He said "Elvis?", "no, Alex". "Alice?", "No, Alex". "You gotta spell that for me, man" "A-L-E-X". "Oh, Alex. Got it". When working for a restaurant in Birmingham, I got to make a sandwich for my childhood hero, Brendan Shanahan. Made a salad for Darren McCarty, sandwich for Joey Harrington, waited on Todd Jones' family's table. Also, Jean-Claude Van Damme's trainer would come in looking super European and thinking he was the shit. |
