I don't talk about coaches that no longer coach for the University of Michigan

Submitted by ontarioblue on

When Rich Rod was hired and kids started transfering out he coined the phrase"I do not talk about players that do not play for the University of Michigan", or something along these lines.  Rich Rod is no longer our coach.  His time is done.  To continually make comparisons between Hoke and Rich Rod does both coaches a disservice.  It is time to move on.  Thanks Rich, good luck where ever you land, and all the best to you and your family during this transition.

Time to start evaluating and discussing Hoke and his coordinator picks and his assistant coaching picks and the upcoming February 2011 signing class and what not.

RR should be a limited topic and consider OT for now, right?  /S

coaches are compaired to other teams coaches... coaches of the past...coaches of the future...

to judge a persons in his job performance you must compare him to his peers which does include past Michigan coaches including RR

...and many of the compliments being given to Hoke are backhanded insults to RR.  So, good luck in your quest, but I don't think you will be altering the fundamentals of human nature anytime soon.

That is one of my biggest problems with this whole thing.  I supported a 4th year for RR but since that didn't happen, I'm rooting for Hoke to do well but it really bugs me when people take unnecessary shots at RR.  It's completely uncalled for and disrespectful to a guy who, wasn't as successful as anyone would have hoped, but gave his heart and soul to Michigan for the 3 years he was here.

So by that rationale we shouldn't judge previous presidents?  Where exactly would be be as a society if we didn't  judge the leaders of our past.  RR was right not to talk about players because they are players... not the leaders of the program.

...recent history and not some lame ass history that occured over 75 years ago...no none cares except uofm, especially the recruits dont care about 75 or 13 years ago.  bo never won a nat'l championship and had losing bowl records...especially rose bowls.  lc had a losing bowl record and had 1 great year...13 years ago...no one cares.  its a good thing uofm wants to be big10 ugly ass logo champs and play in the rose bowl.  if i were a player i would rather win a national championship (did osu / wiscy / msu play for the nat'l championship this yr being big 10 champs?)...the arrogance of uofm and the archaic thinking is what killed uofm football.  can people start talking about that if bh doesnt beat tsuo or go to a major bowl or recruit well in 3 years that he gets ran out of town too.  bh should get the same leash rr received, but he wont bc he is a "MM."  also, lets see how rr's recruits develop and grow...then we will see whom we should or shouldnt be talking about.  i hope rr goes on to coach somewhere in the south and gets his florida players while bh gets his midwest players...what an idiot.  lets see what happens the next 2 years and see where the great "MM" is.  you want to start talking about the present when all of uofm's success is over 50 years ago except 1 yr...you cant have it both ways.  you cant talk about the present while still living in the past.  uofm isnt really that good and has declined for years after lc won in '97 .  all rr wanted to do was to bring uofm football into the present day and he got run out of town by the people who live in the bo / mo / lc days of overhyped success...except '97.  its all revisionist history now that a "MM" is hired so no one wants to talk about how rr was treated, you all just want to ignore what a disgrace that was.  if you live in the past then thats part of it.  you cant just wipe the slate clean and at the same time brag about all the tradtion of 100+ years (which most of the nat'l championship winning was done), you have to look at the whole picture and it was not so pretty under lc.

1. The return button is your friend. Paragraph breaks are your friends. 2 what's with the trolling? It is fully possible for a person to appreciate that UM has a historic tradition of excellence and to also appreciate that the last 10 years haven't lived up to that. In short, go back to Lansing.

you have a difficult time with the FACTS.  Have you every heard of the Big House?  Of course, everyone has.  Why to you think they call it the House the Yost built?

In addition, Michigan ranks 3rd in television ratings increase during bowl games, a whopping 12%.  This is according to Rielsen Ratings.  So yes Virginia, UM is important.

Rivals.com rates UM #1 in foot ball tradition.  Thats right #1.  So Um is important.

There are more Superbowl MVPs from UM in the past 20 years than any other.  If Brady win the MVP this year, UM will hold the all time record.  So UM is important.
