They were +10,000 to win the world cup on one of the betting site back in April.  Seems like a decent value now.

Italy didn't qualify for the last world cup and is viewed as a very aging team with some under the radar upstarts.  Several of those players got decent contracts from middling Euro clubs after the tournament.  I don't expect them to make a world cup splash but then again, nobody expected them to win the Euro 2020.

The thing is our children aren't playing a lot of youth football or baseball anymore.  A lot of the talent pool is moving in the soccer direction.

USMNT actually has talent.

USMNT actually has talent.

I totally disagree.  They…

I totally disagree.  They have several legit players all around the $30-60M transfer market value.  Not many teams with that kind of quality.  Can they put it all together?  Good question. But the talent is there

Double Jeopardy?

Would this fall into the double jeopardy category?  I don't think its necessary though to revisit.  Damage to PSU is done.  Most people in the country will have to think twice about sending their kids there

Visa fraud

You can get in trouble for lying on a visa application.

BTW

The house that had the garage that was hit was a resort home.  The family is from elsewhere.  One of the sons was living there for the summer and thankfully was working in town when this all went down.  As of Monday when I left they still weren't allowed back in the house.  This thing sucks from every angle!

Ironically

Ironically there was very little damage done to anything on the ground.  Again, I don't know anything about aviation but it looked like a firecracker blew up and that's it.  And two people were killed and one critically injured.  Terrible.

Observations from a non expert

We have a family home in Charlevoix.  My parents spend most of June and July up there.  The plane hit a garage of a house that was two blocks from our house which is about 1/3 mile from the airport.  Just thought that a distance measure would help out with the people who actually know what they're talking about.  By the way, I don't know if they have a website but the Charlevoix Courier published a long article about it including where exactly the plane hit.  Fortunately no one was in the house when it happened.  Hopefully the boy will be OK!!!!

Like going home

Looking at those photos just took me back a long ways.  I forgot how great that city is.  Thanks for posting that!

Disagree

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a lawless town.  I live in the city and the police have come every time I've called.  (It's still ridiculous how many times I've had to call... about 5 times in 5 years for various things)  However, I live in one of the last decent neighborhoods.  I wouldn't doubt your claim about not going into the north end at all.

Living in Flint

I live in Flint.  We made the top of the list this time around.  A big part of that, though, was the serial stabber from last year.  That guy stabbed a ton of people.  Not saying the rest of the crime in the city isn't terrible and out of control.  I'm jealous of Thomas Rawls now for getting out!

Huh!

Why did my comment get redacted for pointing out the obvious prejudice of the previous comment?  Is it the blogs point of view also that Stonum has no other chance in life than to play football?

I agree

I think they will stick with him to try to help him.  That not to say they won't come down relatively hard on him though... which thy should.  Especially with the climate of college football these days.

WOW!!!

Man... that was super condescending!  So apparently you just assume that Stonum is as dumb as a pile of shit and football is the only way he does anything at all in life.  Maybe a little racist as well.

Huh?

Really?  This bullshit absolutely never happened.  The first thing to point out... He apparently takes his dog to dog parks so we know he's in at least a semi urban setting... and there are wolverines around???  Where the fuck does he live.  I don't think these things exist outside of Minnesota or Wisconsin.  Also, do you really think a wild animal would allow itself to get anywhere near some asshole and his stupid little dog??? And all of a sudden a domesticated dog just decided to be aggressive to the point of killing something?  This dude has never been outside of a major city and knows nothing of dogs or any other animal.  You have to teach a domestic dog to kill.  It doesn't happen otherwise.  Wild dogs are another story but this is a stupid JRT.

Nah

A better comparison is Chauncey without a three point shot.  Morris likes to use his size way more than Rondo.  Have you ever seen Rondo post anyone up?

It'd be way worse

If the investigation takes longer than the five games but finds any violations and the kids end up playing in game six then OSU would be in way worse trouble.

Sort of

I understand the gripe but the refs were pretty consistent with how they called it.  I feel like they just favored the more aggressive play.  How many times did you see UM going to the hole (when it wasn't a wide open dunk)?

Also!

I also don't think it should be missed how much he's improved over the season. He couldn't even go to his left at the beginning of the season.

Good perspective

I was so disappointed he didn't drive further or throw the oop to Hardaway but after calming down I think that was the move.  He's been the leader and that was the shot.  Hope he sticks around a while!  The future looks bright.

So F'ing Sweet!

I'd love to see that game again!

wrong

Actually, a few of those guys are in the NFL now and doing well.

All Fab Five

Actually, I'd love highlights of all the Fab Five games.  Whether it be the Martin controversy or not, BTN or ESPN Classic never play them and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Fab Five pretty much change college sports for better or worse?  In fact, Fab Five should have been a 30 for 30 episode!

Jalen dancing!

I want to see the game where Billy Packer chastises them as disgraceful.  I think it was a win over MSU when Jalen got up on the scorers table and danced after the final buzzer.

confirmation

It is on 255 in the mid michigan area.

Comcast channel

I believe its channel 255 or 254, right by btn, and only offered as an hd option.  Sorry I can't be more accurate as I'm at work and can't double check.

Don't waste time

I'll believe you and agree that it would be a bad idea for anyone who doesn't like recruiting to fill the position.  Thanks.

Source?

Not meaning to chide you but is this common knowledge that he doesn't like to recruit?  Seriously, I don't know and I'm asking.

What happens if/when

So what is everyone on this board going to do if UM goes private and nobody will have any "right" to know everything that happens?

Absolutely

And besides, I'm sure Brandon felt that not giving every detail of his process gave him a competitive advantage.  And for those who are questioning whether there actually was a national search, even if he was settled on Hoke, don't you think it was a good idea to talk to as many people as possible to get all the info to make sure it actually was an informed decision?

House of cards

OSU and Tressel really have built a house of cards.  Its not that I can't wait for it to fall (although in a weird way it will be satisfying) but I am only happy in my college football universe when us and all of our rivals are good... only we're better.  But seriously, they're a house of cards in the same manner that USC was... probably still is.

I love the guy

If I'm going to donate another cent to this program I at least feel better that the guy in charge has the same pride and affinity for my school as I do!

Huh?

What press conference are you talking about?

uh huh

By that rationale Bobby Williams should have been a helluva coach!

Who cares?

What does a RB coach do anyway?  Watch film and say,   "you should have run there"?

Correction

The phonetics aren't right.  Spend some time outside the country club.

How so?

Exactly and succinctly?  How so?

Historical relevance

So by that rationale we shouldn't judge previous presidents?  Where exactly would be be as a society if we didn't  judge the leaders of our past.  RR was right not to talk about players because they are players... not the leaders of the program.

Fo Sho!

I think it's great news!  That kid's a stud.  Tressel took over and won a NC with Craig Krenzel!  DG is way better than that!

challenge

What exactly do you refute about my previous statement?  (besides typos... I'm still getting used to this Imac)

Whatever

Whatever.  The players that are worth anything will respond.  Barwis is undoubtedly good but that doesn't mean anything unless the players are motivated to maximize their time with him. In that same vain I think Brick Mealer will be fine wherever he goes.  He's certainly shown the constitution to do so.  Besides... why is everyone sucking Barwis's dick about that?  It was Mealer who did it.  And for that I have a role model for life!

Absolutely

Absolutely!  If you have a one dimensional scheme, then it can be prepared for.  The best bet is to be fundamentally sound and smart enough to switch schemes.  It happens in every other sport!!!

Remember the past

It's doesn't matter if its fair.  We have to learn from the past.  Not an indictment on RR but lets not just day to forget the last 3 years.

Don't care what scheme

I really don't care what scheme they use as long as they are finally able to get short yardage when they need it.  How many times the past three years did they totally screw up when the QB actually had to go under center and get 1 yard?

Scotch!

Nothing turns the lights out quite like it.

Certainly

It certainly turns the volume down on all this ridiculousness.  Anyone up for some Taco Bell?
