"I don't care what the Orlando Sentinel says, I still think (Dee Hart) is coming to Michigan"

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
Sam Webb, even after the reports yesterday, said on the recruiting roundup today that his gut still is telling him Hart comes to Michigan. He admits that's a not a guarantee, but he spoke with him, and was told the article would have no bearing on the decision. So Sam and Tom seem to be on the same page.

Honestly, a lot of Dee to Michigan rumors have surfaced in the past week.  I think Dee wanted to just maintain the suprise of his Commitment day.  They day you commit to play for the Michigan Wolverines must be a very special day.  All the rumors and speculations were most likely a bit too one sided for Dee.

M-Wolverine is right that Sam stood by his gut feeling; however, Sam stated that he had not spoken to Dee yesterday or today.  Sam mentioned that the Orlando Sentinel article had no impact on his gut feeling and that he would stand firm to his thoughts unless he heard it directly from Dee.

This is reminiscent of Big Will’s recruitment. Sam had a strong gut feeling while all the others were confident Michigan was not in it for him.  Sam’s gut feelings have, for the most part, been pretty reliable.

According to Sam this morning, Dee has shut off his phone and was not answering any calls. My feeling on this is that Sam (and Tom VH) get a lot of inside information from kids that they do not want made public. If they were to burn a kid by giving out information they would no longer be credible and recruits wouldn't talk to them or confide in them. I will allow Dee Hart to do anything he wants in the next 27 hours as long as in the end he puts on the Michigan Hat/Jersey, etc. I can't think of a better way to start the weekend.

And if he doesn't?

(not to say that I DON'T think he'll go blue, it's just a funny statement to make, as if any of us have any control over what he does in the next 27 hours or beyond)

become a friend of Dee's on Facebook and attach cute little pictures of his dog / cat  everyday on his wall, until the point were Dee becomes so ennoyed, he realizes the error of his ways, and finally commits to Michgan.

Or make FB posts like:  "I just woke up today and put on my maize and blue slippers.  Everyone of my friends who is a top 100 recuit in Rivals/Scout/ESPN, should get a pair, they are nice and cozy.  Everybody have a great day today....."

Look, I want Hart to come to Michigan based on this alone:

It seems to me, though, that a lot of collective psychological energy is being invested in one guy.  I'd agree that none of our RBs have shown signs of stardom, but there are more glaring recruiting needs at several other positions.  Is it really the end of the world if he goes to Alabama?

Yeah, that is the biggest part of it.  We haven't had anyone committing lately, so I think that's part of the reason why we are all looking forward to this one.  Hoping that it will be the turning point to convince other recruits that Michigan is officially back and it is safe to committ here again.  Plus, he is a great running back...so he has that working for him.

Hart would be a great asset and it would be great if he signed, but I would also like to see a lockdown corner and a vile, all-consuming MLB.

Mike Farrell was on Bill's show this AM and they opened with the Dee Hart question, Mike has no idea. Dee has officially confused the experts, well played on his part.

Farrell did say that he believed that bama was still recruiting Dee as a slot vs. a RB. They both believed Dee would be a much better match for our offense. Here's hoping Dee was listening, although I'm sure he has made up his mind already. And by "I'm sure" I mean Tom VH is sure.

Yeah, but most kids only play lip service to education. Really, its about our system and what appears to be a bright future vs. the football factory and #1 team in the land. Sure AA is better then Alabama (anything in Alabama), but at the end of the day, it is who is going to make me succeed and get me to the pros!

Mamma Hart

I agree with you: the vast majority of kids don't care about the education. However, there are a lot kids out there with parents who DO care about education. I'm not sure if this is the case with Hart, but it's always good to bring it up, because you never knew who's mom or dad is whispering about education in that kid's ear.

Just checked Tom's twitter page, and a comment and response from Tom caught my attention (in a positive way for UM).

davidmj @TomVH any reason to fear recent Hart to 'bama rumors? Please say it's just posturing to build up drama for his eventual announcement to UM?

TomVH @davidmj no reason

I may be reading too much into this, but it seems as if Tom doesn't want to come out and say it, but he sees no reason to believe the Bama hype.

If it makes you feel any better, I talked to Demetrius yesterday and on Monday. Like I said, I know what's going on and I'll share it with you after he announces.
