Hoke: starting QB to be named later this week

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Was supposed to be named today.

Could it be that the longer this is dragged out, it's more likely to be Morris?

Hoke on QB decision: "We'll probably end up later in the week. we want to make sure we're right."

Hoke: "we feel good about both guys. other potential changes we'll get to later in the week"

I'm seeing some stuff on this blog lately that bothers me...I'm not picking sides between you two, but I think we all need to take a step back and remember we're all (mostly) fans of Michigan.

We may not all agree on all things, but come on...there's a real ESPiN style of banter going on lately and its disturbing.  Lets know go down that road.  Everyone take a deep breath, please.

...but the complaining about stuff that's not going to change, has to stop. So I'm okay with anyone who basically tells those people "STFU."

Anytime Hoke speaks, there's a line of people waiting to complain about what he says or doesn't say. Even though he always says or doesn't say the same things and it's been this way for a REALLY long time.

It's like being an Oregon fan and whining about UNIFORMZ...I mean, they've done UNIFORMZ for years, they're not going to stop now. Stop being an Oregon fan if it truly bothers you that much. Otherwise, just shut up and move on to something else.

Hoke isn't going to change his personality, it is what it is...and it's always been this way. The only new thing is the injuries and even that isn't new anymore.

So I'm with anyone who's annoyed with the people who are annoyed with all things Brady Hoke and want to complain about it every chance they can get. Don't click the link if you don't want to read about it. Don't watch the presser if you don't want to hear about it.

Literally that's the definition of stupid. I don't like something, but I'm going to keep subjecting myself to it over and over expecting a different outcome. No. Every presser you watch or read is going to be 80% the same. He's rarely going to wear headsets. He claps for motivation. He doesn't talk about injuries. He doesn't wear long sleeves during games.

You know this, I know this, we all know this...so don't subject yourself to something that annoys you knowing it's never going to change.

I hate rush hour traffic, so I avoid driving through the busiest part of the city between 4-6pm. I hate MSU trolling, so I avoid RCMB. I hate Drew Sharp, so I never read the Freep.

And then you have the folks who want to complain, thinking they're going to get a mob of people in support going "yea!" "yea!" "me too!" "right on!" --- but with these Hoke-related topics, the majority of people have just accepted it or they've learned to tolerate it or they avoid it all together...so the few responses you're going get are "BOOOOOOO!" "Shut up!" "Don't read it then!"

a nicely phrased "STFU" is just what someone needs.  And yes, couldn't agree more on the thought regarding not complaining about things you can't control.  However, the personal back and forth quips at each other have to stop.  I had someone tell me on this blog, essentially, to get out of my parent's basement and get to work...or something to that effect (all I need is 10% truth...).  I mean...come on.  Is that shit necessary?  I say NO.

can be broken when it pleases him?

Hoke should not have committed to a date today in the first place. Minnesota would also love to know who is starting and plan for him. It was stupid on his part but he compounded the problem by backtracking from his commitment to the fan base telling them they would know today.

Like his football team little things matter and snowball. Not sure why he holds pressers if what he says cannot be relied on.

What gets me about this place is the people who sit here and downvote comments like this. This is an intelligent reply which I guess has the downside of being a negative comment about Hoke -- even though it is 100% on-topic and non-redundant. Why does this earn two down-votes?

I've noticed my own posts frequently get downvoted here if they dare say anything negative about the program, even when they are calm, thoughtful, logical, and reasonably well-written. And on top of that, they seem to mirror the thoughts of a significant percentage of the fanbase.

Meanwhile, making inane "posbang" threads to celebrate .. "us" .. ? .. which happened even in the aftermath of the Utah game seems to get an overwhelmingly positive response from the "tribe".

It's bottom-of-the-barrel groupthink. I get that these votes don't really matter in the scheme of things, but it doesn't seem like a lot of this board is actually interested in a thoughtful, reasoned discussion of anything. So go ahead, "negbang" away, as the purile parlence goes. And if you need those oh-so-valuable points, please reply with a hardy "STFU!!"

I don't disagree, but Hoke just sounds like a buffoon (again) here.

Monday: Starter to be named tomorrow.

Tuesday: Starter to be named later this week.

Why not just say that Monday? After all this time, what epiphany did he think he was going to have in 24 hours? Now it looks like he just said that yesterday because it was the first thing that came to mind (not the first time that's happened), and that both players still look like shit in practice as neither has gained an advantage over the other. If he'd just said yesterday that a starter will be named later in the week, that wouldn't look as exposed as it does now. I know that in the end that won't really have an effect on Saturday, but it just adds to the narrative that he isn't particularly deft.

unless peoples voice and more importantly dollars are herd and felt. That is the reason people are expressing opinions. They think this will lead to change. Kind of the same way people contact elected officalls to voice concerns. It is just that we do not have a direct line to the coaches office.

Right, and this thread is about what Hoke has to say about something. Look I don't mean to pick on you, but threads like this and the presser transcripts are filled with comments like "why does anyone listen to these guys?" If you don't, fine, I don't blame you. Don't just show up to make snippy comments that add no value to any discussion.

A fairly common topic around here has been that Hoke never has anything substantive to say in press conferences. The losing just makes most of us much less patient.

I get what you're saying and usually make it a point to avoid the site after a loss, but now I'm just venting.  Sure I'm not the only one.

Do you watch the games? On drop back plays Gardner literally has no time to sit in the pocket EVER.. there is no improvement from the O-line and the pass protection is 10x worse than last year..

Putting shane in won't solve anything, but i hope u get ur wish

I feel sorry for the poor bastards that actually listen to anything this man says. I love coach Hoke, but he isn't getting it done, and his comments are not worth a lick.

Well I guess you just don't understand my post then.

I love Coach Hoke, as a person and a repersenter of Michigan. He does really well in showing how great of school we are. I don't think anyone has a problem with that.

It's how he sheds questions and continues to lead are football program in a downward direction.

So, yes, I'm with you I LOVE when people state their opinions of our coach, but are not ignorant of whats going on.

Is it wrong to criticize someone I like as a person, but understand he is screwing up?

.....................How do you say, "I feel sorry for the poor bastards that actually listen to anything this man says." and then in the next breath say, "I love Coach Hoke, as a person and a repersenter of Michigan."?

If he is representing our University well - I would tend to think I want to listen to what he says...

I see what your saying, but your taking what I'm saying the wrong way.

Coach Hoke is really good at selling/repersenting The University of Michigan. I love him for that. He really seems to be a very good person. He also loves Michigan. With that being said, I really like him as an individual.

Now, if you listen to what he says about the FOOTBALL program, and how he gives us no info or info that is false then I have to say your an idiot if you listen to him. Doesn't make him a bad person or make me not like him as an individual.

There I spelled it out.

they needed to watch them all week, that is their decision. If we reach the point where we're crucifying them for every decision it could be a long season. And it is already going to be very long.

god, this whole thing feels like a manager at work that surrounds himself with friends and buddies so he never has to deal with confrontations or having people around him that would ever tell him what a dick he is.
