Ho Jeeze: Please No Rain for Ann Arbor on Saturday

Submitted by markusr2007 on

I wish I could send some southern California weather to Ann Arbor for Saturday, but it looks like it'll be cool, dry and with only 10% chance of rain, so thank Christ for that.

Wisconsin is fully aware of Michigan's struggles to hang on to the damn football this year (and last year, and the year before that).

Bret Bielema:

"Bottom line, on Saturday Indiana had some turnovers and we didn't. I think it was a point of emphasis that our guys carried forward to the game. Michigan had five turnovers on Saturday, and I know our guys will be aware of it."

Also from the MJS article:

Michigan is 1-2 at home in Big Ten play. The losses came in consecutive weeks - 34-17 to Michigan State and 38-28 to Iowa. The common factors in the two losses: Michigan couldn't stop the run and couldn't protect the football.

How true that is - and not a little bit depressing.

since it will be sunny out with little to no chance of rain, we will have no turnovers and will be able to stop the run on D?!? ... Yes! Hail, Hail ...

I would have to think that field turf would certainly stand up to rain better than a real grass field. However, dry conditions are certainly preferable. Hopefully, Bucky used up all of their 'good luck' against the Hoosiers. A little John Thompson type of luck would be a big plus.

me neither.

so what you do is you wear an undershirt, a turtleneck/sweater, a jersey on top, and then put on a maize-shirt or a maize windbreaker. for pants, wear some long underwear and jeans. get a and gloves hat of your choice.

BOOM SOLVED.

you're referring to recognition. people know who we are. its their perception of our fanbase that suffers.

michigan stadium has long been referred to as a "symphony crowd" that is they're there more to watch politely than to actually try and give their team an advantage. if you take a look at games in the sec (lsu, bama, even arkansas) - take a look at the stadium - look at the colors and if you tell me its not cool and impressive, you're lying. i cant tell you the number of times ive watched games on tv, seen those crowds and sadly lamented that ive never seen michigan stadium rocking like that. michigan stadium, student section post 1st quarter exempt, looks like a hodgepodge of old people who trundled out to watch a game.

changing the way we look is the first step towards changing the national perception of our fanbase being less rabid than other (and more often than not, lesser) programs. and THAT my friends, is something i feel is worth striving for.

Here's the truth: the color of clothing our fans doesn't matter. The only thing that really matters (other than winning, which is by far the biggest thing) is that the fans show up. We've drawn over 100,000 every game since 1975. That's what really grabs people.

It's weird. Much of this board has developed an inferiority complex. Our own fans are calling us a "7-5 team," as though we have no right to even hope for a win in the last two games. People are talking about how we need to build our brand identity up, despite the fact that we have a following across the country and everyone loves our fight song, uniforms, helmets and winning tradition. People: we're an elite program. It's okay to believe this.

Good day, sir!!

But really, I understand students who have known nothing but disastrous football, and a non-exist basketball program, to think just not sucking is pretty good, but really it's not what it has been or should be. I swear we're turning our students into State fans. We need a little more of the arrogant asses thing back. It's ok to have nice things, we're Michigan, we deserve it.

it is 99% of the down-in-front perception (the 1% being people saying "down in front") is the key jingling. That is bush. When Northwestern did it back in the day to say "you'll park my car one day", that was funny but they really didn't have anything else. But anyone that thinks of it as some sort of noise enhancing practice...woof.

Which does it affect more?

I have to say Michigan is more adversely affected. We need Denard to be able to make cuts and throw the ball. If that happens, and the O clicks, we can trade touchdowns. If Denard & the RB's & the receivers can't cut, it could be a long afternoon.
