Not much competition in 2011.

Didn't we run something like this out of the Fitz formation earlier this year? I think it was jet sweep to speed option but I imagine it's pretty close.

We're a running/option team that can pass sometimes. Deal with it.

We did run for over 300 yards and 7.1 per carry right?

I feel like SDSU is going to

I feel like SDSU is going to have problems with the read option. We are going to have a lot of problems with their offense though.

I got into Michigan even

I got into Michigan even though I had a 2.9 GPA in highschool.

Of course, I went for graduate school.

Here's my question. Wouldn't

Here's my question. Wouldn't it be easier, and more accurate, rather than all these teams putting some random walk on WR at QB to make everyone on the defense wear parachutes while they play against a real QB.

I mean seriously how has no one thought of this.

Her name's Joanna.

Her name's Joanna.

hehehe there's not a score

hehehe there's not a score for either team in the active window for the game tracker. BIG TEN BASKETBALL!

3 points is more than 2?

3 points is more than 2?

One trustee said Connecticut's Randy Edsall was impressive but ``we were more comfortable with Al. And he beat Connecticut.''

LOL at this as a criteria given the circumstances.

Ditka?

Ditka?

That's weird because I can't

That's weird because I can't think of a position where team speed hasn't increased. I guess defensive end. Also free safety at the begining of the year.

You know who else was an

You know who else was an underdog? A little country called America in the revolutionary war.

Don't tread on me.

Hating Michigan = Hating America.

My opinion is that your

Right I payed, but it's still not available right now because they suck.

No idea. He certainly has the

No idea. He certainly has the size and skill to play point at the next level, but his outside shooting is certainly not NBA ready. I'm not sure about this but he might lack the quickness he would need to be an effective bad shoot NBA point?

I wish Time Warner wasn't the

I wish Time Warner wasn't the worst. But it is and so the BTN is currently unavailable.

Jinx.

He really gave the return

He really gave the return game a spark until he got injured. Makes you wonder why they didn't stick with him all year.

Maybe?

We could move Denard to

We could move Denard to running back OMG!!!!

It's like you don't get that

It's like you don't get that low double digit losses aren't blowouts in a game where you can score seven points at a time. How hard is it to understand?

I didn't read the article,

I didn't read the article, but from the comments here on a blog from people who've read it, it sounds like an embarrassment to the Detroit News. Foster has destroyed a once great newspaper with his lack of grammatical control. He has also failed to foster an enviroment of compliance with the basic tenants of journalism. He would fit in much better at a newspaper like "The National Enquirer". I bet he'd do well there.

Seriously though, did anyone criticizing Rodriguez actually listen to the speech? It was pretty moving I thought, and the only time he got "emotional" was when he was talking about how much he cares about the young men in his program. This is a good thing, and if you don't think so get the fuck out of my fanbase.

Right. Reality. How many

Right. Reality.

How many games were actually "blowouts" as you claimed? Because you said five, and I'm confused about that. I'm sorry but 10 point losses are not blowouts, no matter how much you want the coach fired. I dunno about you, but I tend to only count the scores the other team actually, you know, scores.

So the reality is: you're wrong.

It's like people don't

It's like people don't realize touchdowns are seven points.

It didn't happen five times

It didn't happen five times in 2010/2011 either.

Denard is a fucking QB.

Denard is a fucking QB.

So... you're saying he'll

So... you're saying he'll have more than 3 wins!

Right and the Freshmen from

Right and the Freshmen from this year will be Sophmores and better and the Sophmores from this year will be Juniors and better.

That's how it works. People have this misguided notion that a great recruiting class turns around a program right away. It doesn't, and that's why the "we need to recruit more defense" meme is completely misguided. Upperclassmen, especially on defense, are generally the reason the team wins or loses.

None of Rodriguez's defensive recruits are Juniors yet.

Some of you guys need to stop

Some of you guys need to stop seeing things in absolutes.

True.

Because that's what Dave

Because that's what Dave Brandon is looking at? I think you can look at the efficiency numbers in conjunction with our roster in addition to the product on the field and conclude that it's very likely that we will improve those numbers next year. And, in turn, win more games, of course.

I'm not really sure what you're driving at to be honest; you're certainly obfuscating any conclusion that you're trying to make. What do you mean by "averages"? What would you like OP to average? Are you suggesting that he should present a unified view of Rodriguez's tenure? I think that's ludicris if that's what you're arguing. Dave Brandon has said repeatedly that he's looking for improvement in the program. And here is improvment.

I've seen many on this board argue that we haven't improved from last year, and so I don't think it's disingenuous in the slightest to provide evidence that refutes that point of view.

The OP, and most of the

The OP, and most of the comments attached to it, are trying to predict that improvement next year will be an objective, statistical fact.  That is what I am trying to debunk.

Where did OP predict improvement? Isn't the post trying to show improvement over the past three years? Isn't the question posed, "How much has the team improved, exactly?" Note the verb tense.

So is just about everyones.

So is just about everyones. They just choose to ignore those other facts that don't support their point of view. If you can't see that he continually cherry picks data that agrees with his POV, then you're as baised as he is. Seriously, who argues that close win/loss record is more compelling than overall efficiency data? jmblue, that's who.

Not to Mention

One coach revolutionized a sport through his invention of the spread option. The other called a really gutsy fake fg once.

Math is Fun!

Right but a linear extrapolation is totally reckless for this analysis. Do you really think it's as easy for a top 20 team to become a top five team as it is a top 40 team to become a top 20 team?

2009 was Jim Harbaugh's third

2009 was Jim Harbaugh's third year so you can compare those numbers to Rich Rod's 2010 numbers and look at how differe... oh... nevermind.

So winning the B-10 title

So winning the B-10 title wouldn't be enough? Jesus.

Being "happy" has nothing to

Being "happy" has nothing to do with it. I'm unhappy with how the year went, but I still want RR retained.

So you are saying we haven't

So you are saying we haven't improved as a whole, that we aren't on a positive tradjectary? Because the numbers say otherwise.

When does this "Michigan has

When does this "Michigan has a young team" nonsense stop? Just fix it,already.

You do understand the whole "aging" thing right? As time goes by, people get older.

Totally just read that as PBR

Totally just read that as PBR guy.

Jesus. Fucking.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

Can you not just be happy?

Fuck!

You do realize the charts

You do realize the charts account for all that right?

We were 40th in the nation in

We were 40th in the nation in least penalty yardage.

You do realize Vinopal is one

You do realize Vinopal is one of the fastest players on the team right? Also I expect this defense to be average, and I expect an average defense to have us contending for a Big Ten title.
