Harbaugh: Watch Out for Nick Capatina at RB
In addition to smiling A LOT when he was talking about Zach Charbonnet, Harbaugh also talked up walk-on Nick Capatina at running back on BTN tonight.
I had never heard of Nick Capatina, so I looked him up. He's a 5-9, 192-pound junior out of Detroit (Novi) Catholic Central. Can't wait to see what he has! Maybe he'll get two carries all year or maybe he'll be this year's Tru Wilson, but he had to feel damn good listening to Harbaugh mention his name on the Big Ten Network.

I went to grade school with the capatina family. His sister was a year older than me. Lol it was the exact same thing with CJ Baird. His sister was in my class

Great, but how was her pad level?
August 14th, 2019 at 7:06 AM ^
I am guessing waist high? Anatomically.

I wasn't going to go there.
I thought someone would go there.
But I didn't want to go there.
That's very funny though.

I was going to go the "padded bra" route but your Stay-free angle was far more direct and funny. Well done BigWeb!

This is the school that gave us Mark Messner, so the track record from CC ain't bad.
August 13th, 2019 at 11:37 PM ^
Messner played varsity when he was in the 9th and 10th grade at Heartland High School, then he transfer to CC for higher end competition.
August 14th, 2019 at 1:31 AM ^
I was in Brighton when Messner played at Hartland. We had a big OL prospect and freshman Messner came in and whipped his butt with Michigan coaches watching. That put him on their radar.

I'm sorry, the answer is Moops.

Capatina was the kid taking reps at the Spring Game.
Harbaugh has raved about him a few times on his pod cast.
August 13th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
Can he play CB?
August 13th, 2019 at 11:47 PM ^
Coached his older brother, anthony. Great kid and family !

O Capatina, My Capatina!

A Walt Whitman reference in a thread about a walk-on RB?
Damn - sometimes I love this place.

All-Camp B1G with 7 TD’s. Top 5 chart buster.
August 13th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
On a serious note. Lots of time spent on Army. JH made sure to emphasize that game.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:02 AM ^
Would you say that Harbaugh is concerned about Army?
August 14th, 2019 at 6:05 AM ^
I can't wait till we stop scheduling service academies. How much time has this program wasted in the last ~5 years preparing for these one off non-conference games?
August 14th, 2019 at 7:52 AM ^
Didn't Harbaugh run the standard wishbone? I understand the academies have morphed it somewhat into a flexbone, but it should help us some.
August 14th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
Has Nick Capatina has been playing the role of the Army quarterback (Kelvin Hopkins, Jr.) on the scout team since spring practice began, in preparation for the second game of the season?
August 14th, 2019 at 12:30 AM ^
This is like listening to Sparky Anderson talking up Chris Pittaro.
August 14th, 2019 at 1:06 AM ^
...or Torey Lovullo.
August 14th, 2019 at 8:16 AM ^
Almost typed "and Kirk Gibson" but I think that was more of a hometown push.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:58 AM ^
Maybe he's the next Sam McGuffie?
August 14th, 2019 at 9:09 AM ^
I must be missing something here - I'm pretty sure McGuffie was a 4* recruit and more slot receiver shaped, so in what way is he potentially the next Sam McGuffie?
August 14th, 2019 at 9:44 AM ^
also McGuffie, contrary to perception, was good player here in a tire fire season. As a true freshman he had 2 100 yard games.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:42 AM ^
and then there's the bobsled disparity as well - this analogy seems dubious....
August 14th, 2019 at 1:17 AM ^
Capatina was the one Harbaugh was raving about in the Spring that tore his ACL on the last week, right? He sounded so bummed we he broke that news to everyone. He talked about him at every opportunity in the Spring.
August 14th, 2019 at 1:32 AM ^
Wrong Italian Wolverine... it was Lucas Andrighetto. Here's what Harbaugh said 4-3-2019:
"Lucas Andrighetto unfortunately tore his ACL in our last practice and it was just…makes me physically sick. He was doing so well. He switched positions from safety to running back and was doing great. I mean, he was up high on the depth chart, right in there with VanSumeren. But he’ll be back. He’ll have his surgery here in a week or two when the swelling goes down. Phenomenal young man from my neck of the woods out there in California. He went to St. Francis high school out there. Won a state championship. Had an interception in the state championship game and also threw a two-point conversion on a muffed field goal. That was a tough break, but his attitude is great and he’ll be back. So that’s where we are at running back."
August 14th, 2019 at 8:41 AM ^
Yeah, that was back in the Spring, when the RB depth chart read something like: 'Evans - out; Turner - injury; Wilson - injury; Mason - not a RB; BVS - in; Capatino - in; Andrighetto - injury; some guy from the south parking lot - in...'
Those weren't good times...
August 14th, 2019 at 7:31 AM ^
Watch out for Mr. Gray
August 14th, 2019 at 7:39 AM ^
Older brother Anthony was a real solid special teams player for several years.
August 14th, 2019 at 7:52 AM ^
Needless to say our RB Depth Chart looks to be pretty amazing! Add that with a healthy (hopefully) WR core and a stable of QBs... I am really trying to limit my optimism but it is hard this year fam really freaggn hard...
August 14th, 2019 at 10:03 AM ^
Not to denigrate this kid but you and I have a pretty different definition of "amazing". If any of the top three guys goes down or doesn't develop as you would hope, it's going to be a huge problem.
August 14th, 2019 at 8:39 AM ^
hopefully he's the next walk-on to captain story.

Nick looked good out there in the spring game. He may get a few carries in some blowouts and wow the crowd with some nice runs.
