Harbaugh Had Subs, It Was Crazy

Submitted by JamesBondHerpesMeds on September 4th, 2023 at 1:33 PM

"I said, 'Hey, let's watch the game together,' and he said, 'Why don't you come over,'" Harbaugh said Monday. "His wife, Kelli, had some sandwiches, his two daughters were there, and my son Johnny. We had a good time. It was good, excellent.

Also, Harbaugh liked what he saw. Onward to Week 2

Michigan was playing and winning while Harbaugh was literally home on his couch.

Honestly, I want video of this. We've all watched Michigan games at home. We mutter about a run for no gain. We stand up and yell for a big play. We cheer with a bit less vim for a later TD in an already decided game. How does Harbaugh handle it? Is he the kind of guy where if you're in the other room when a big play happens you know it happened because you can hear the yelling? Is he motionless? Is he sitting through the commercials, complaining about how many there are?

This is fun to imagine. Actually happened, too.

This comment and all of the replies to it absolutely made my day. Hilarious. I do find it funny that everyone assumed it was subs. For some reason I was envisioning more like club sandwiches LOL.

Also I could honestly see Harbaugh not saying a word the entire game. Or for each entire half. His focus seems so tunnel visioned, maybe he cannot handle regular communication when watching a game like this.

Because of your join date, I'll explain.....former Michigan MBB coach Beilein said this, in reference to the "wild party weekend" he had with his family after Michigan advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2013 -- their first Sweet 16 since 1994. That Saturday night was "pizza and wings, it was crazy over there."

Then Sunday, "we had subs, it was crazy". And the MGoBlog quotable was born.

Legendary call: “Josh (insert recruit name), this is Jim Harbaugh. I’m sitting here watching my Michigan machine grind this opponent (insert ECU, UNLV or BG) into dust and eating a sub. Wanted a burger but Brown Jug doesn’t deliver on Saturdays. What are you doing?”

Recruit: “Just watching football and recovering from my game last night.”

JH: “You can be a big part of our machine over the next few years. Then it’s off the NFL … for you.”

Recruit: “When should I visit?”

JH: “Come see our destruction of OSU in November in the Big House. This bullshit barring from games will be over and we will be 100% ready to kick the shit out of Day’s star culture.”

Recruit: “ OK.”

JH: “And you can sit on this same couch with me in April to watch 20 guys get drafted by the NFL and set a record. Then we can head to the Brown Jug for a free burger.”

They’ll produce a highlight clip of Harbaugh watching the game on tv at home (from cell phone shots from his wife) and there will be a brief shot of Harbaugh typing something into his phone. This will lead to a massive media investigation into whether he is texting instructions to the staff at the game.

The investigation will close, the attackers humiliated, when it is revealed that Harbaugh spent his phone time during the game alternating between texting old buddies messages like “Did you see that catch???” and posting to an anonymous burner Twitter account whose content is entirely variations on “THESE REFS ARE TRASH #FreeHarbaugh.”

A sub can be a sandwich.  A sandwich can't typically be a sub.

Depending on where you are in the country there are different names:

Hoagy (???)

Hero (?)

Poorboy (Cmon LA stop trying to be so different)

Grinder (weaksauce)

In MI it's a sub.  Where I am now the best subs I get they call a Torpedo (same diff).  And I will order an Italian 9.5x out of 10.  If you can't make a good Italian sub I will likely never come back.  Crusty fresh Italian (French works too) bread with sesame seeds on top.  And no I don't want my sub heated.

Shape(s) and sizes of breadstuff resulting in differences in quantity of meatstuffs contained and ease of handling. These are critically important differences deserving much discussion.  😉👍

Also, something that Beilein would have ordered in for a crazy time ... or not.

Man, this isn’t even the best part of the article. You can tell these guys love Harbaugh. What a great guy. He can be stubborn as a mule and his offense sometimes leaves me banging my head against a wall, but there’s truly no one I would rather have coaching Michigan. What a great guy. You know this is just killing him because he’s a great guy and is always trying to do the right thing and he gets pasted by the NCAA over some real bullshit.

Honestly, I’m rather disappointed.   Perhaps I was not clear enough.

First, Harbaugh and anyone he would like to bring - were welcome to join us at our tailgate.  I thought I stated that invitation very clearly.

Second, we had the grill going - burgers (with cheddar cheese) were on the menu - and, we had a few extra burgers.

Third, RBGH free milk was in our cooler.  Now, it was not chocolate milk - and, that may have been a shortcoming on my part.

Fourth, video was available - and, he could have channel grazed - jumping back and forth with the TCU v Colorado game.

Fifth  - and, candidly - I might have been clearer - Coach Moore.and his family were welcome as well.

The next two - UNLV and Bowling Green.. we’ll be there.. Jim’s most welcome.
