That's not a shot.  He's listing ways that 2012 could be a worse college football season than 2011 and he's saying that one of the things that would do it is for Coach Hoke to turn out not to be the real deal, meaning that he thinks that Coach Hoke IS the real deal.  It's a strange but sincere compliment from the AP voter who voted us 17th, second lowest of any voter.

anniversary of all of us waking up with epic hangovers mumbling "we won a BCS game."

Tomorrow will be the one week anniversary of me returning to work and telling everyone "I don't care what you think, we played well enough to win a BCS game.  Suck it."

With all due respect this is yet to be seen.

ND went to a BCS bowl their first year under Fat Charlie and that gave them the faux-confidence (and long contract extension) that eventually saw them stick with him for far too long.

Hoke uber alles and all that, but Brian isn't quite wrong yet...

With all due respect -

Hoke not only carries his admittedly hefty frame better than Weis, but he has half a clue on how to field a defense, he *won* his bowl game instead of getting trucked by Central Akron Northern Vocational Agricultural College, and - speaking of CANVAS - Hoke's arguably best win was over them.  Weis' best win his 1st year was a narrow loss to USC.

It'd be kinda fun to go back to one year ago, and see what people REALLY had to say.  But I'm in too good a mood to after our Sugar Bowl capping 11-2 season.  Everyone knows who they are, anyway. (Particularly those who weren't just skeptical, but outright hostile).

there's no question. Hoke's done a tremendous job with the program. Michigan football supposed to be real physical and those 115 guys have really listened to him. It's all about those guys, those seniors, and their tremendous legacy.

I was pretty mehhhh...umm okay. I was borderline angry even. However, after his intro press conference, I have been on board 100%! When he slams his finger on the podium when talking about Ohio and says "It's the most important game on the schedule" I still get chills!

Many of us will celebrate Hokesday today, as is rightfully so.  Some will celebrate tomorrow, Fergodsakes.  Others in the Defense Orthodox tradition will choose to celebrate next Wednesday, January 18th, the Feast of St. Mattison.  But still, Happy Hokesday.

To think, a year ago we were all flight tracking planes across the country to see who our new coach would be, when the entire time, it was a man "walking" from San Diego who would revive Michigan.

Happy 1 year anniversary, Hoke!  Sorry for ever doubting you.  Go Blue!

I have a special prize for anyone who, onevyear ago, predicted that we'd finish 11-2 this year with wins over both rivals and a BCS bowl victory. Anyone?

it was not quite this good since Michigan did lose to MSU. Thus, Brady Hoke can't claim "wins over both rivals" this year. Unless we "beat MSU" by securing a better bowl bid than them, in which case I'll stop being a buzzkill.

The man, the moment, the circumstances, the players, the fans, the alumni, the athletic administration, the assistant coaches, et al meet in a perfect storm and sometimes they meet in an instant rainbow.......

Thanks for the rainbow Brady!
