Happy Hokeiversary, y'all!
January 11th, 2012 at 5:18 AM ^
Love that guy.
January 11th, 2012 at 8:48 AM ^
I also love Pee Wee's impression of that guy...and this pic.
January 11th, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
Yep, I am expecting big things from Hoke AND these guys! I can see us dominating and on top of the B1G when they are juniors/seniors.
January 11th, 2012 at 5:40 AM ^
....it solves pressing world problems and motivates others to immediate action. Happy Hokeiversary to the MGoCommunity!
January 11th, 2012 at 5:47 AM ^
may I suggest you use this anniversary to purchase the best football card available:
Charles Woodson rookie card (Fleer Ultra), in blue Michigan uniform, with BRADY HOKE standing on the sidelines. I bought this card last year when Hoke was named coach. I think it's tremendous.
January 11th, 2012 at 9:02 AM ^
That is a pretty sweet card.
January 11th, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
No! That is a VERY sweet card!1

For whatever reason, Ray Ratto recently saw fit to take a little shot at Hokie:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/16809958/forgettable-lsu…
January 11th, 2012 at 8:16 AM ^
That's not a shot. He's listing ways that 2012 could be a worse college football season than 2011 and he's saying that one of the things that would do it is for Coach Hoke to turn out not to be the real deal, meaning that he thinks that Coach Hoke IS the real deal. It's a strange but sincere compliment from the AP voter who voted us 17th, second lowest of any voter.
January 11th, 2012 at 5:55 AM ^
anniversary of all of us waking up with epic hangovers mumbling "we won a BCS game."
Tomorrow will be the one week anniversary of me returning to work and telling everyone "I don't care what you think, we played well enough to win a BCS game. Suck it."
January 11th, 2012 at 6:00 AM ^
today marks the one week anniversary of me going around saying we won a BCS bowl and everyone repeatedly explaining they don't give a damn about college football on the east coast :(
January 11th, 2012 at 8:54 AM ^
With all due respect this is yet to be seen.
ND went to a BCS bowl their first year under Fat Charlie and that gave them the faux-confidence (and long contract extension) that eventually saw them stick with him for far too long.
Hoke uber alles and all that, but Brian isn't quite wrong yet...
January 11th, 2012 at 9:13 AM ^
Ha! Charlie's contract with ND STILL hasn't expired. Hilarious.
January 11th, 2012 at 9:35 AM ^
Congratulations, you're officially the last person on earth not fully on board with Hoke. Your kind once ruled these parts but now you must feel incredibly lonely.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:29 AM ^
Dude, not being on the Hoke bandwagon and tempering the Hoke bukake are two vastly different things. His Dudeness is just keeping a foot on the ground in a time when its not easy.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:35 AM ^
Thanks. I am one of those don't go to war with Iraq after 9/11 type of guys.
January 13th, 2012 at 11:13 AM ^
Hoke also, y'know, won his BCS bowl, something Weis never did.
January 11th, 2012 at 12:53 PM ^
So, when His Dudeness regularly mocks Hoke's physical appearance, that's just "keeping a foot on the ground?"
January 13th, 2012 at 4:15 PM ^
I was speaking only of this instance, not everything the dude has ever said. Stop being ridiculous.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:24 AM ^
With all due respect -
Hoke not only carries his admittedly hefty frame better than Weis, but he has half a clue on how to field a defense, he *won* his bowl game instead of getting trucked by Central Akron Northern Vocational Agricultural College, and - speaking of CANVAS - Hoke's arguably best win was over them. Weis' best win his 1st year was a narrow loss to USC.
January 11th, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
It'd be kinda fun to go back to one year ago, and see what people REALLY had to say. But I'm in too good a mood to after our Sugar Bowl capping 11-2 season. Everyone knows who they are, anyway. (Particularly those who weren't just skeptical, but outright hostile).
January 11th, 2012 at 6:21 AM ^
Ah, nothing to start the day off with a laugh like a short Fighting Figure Skaters of South Bend video!
January 11th, 2012 at 6:54 AM ^
there's no question. Hoke's done a tremendous job with the program. Michigan football supposed to be real physical and those 115 guys have really listened to him. It's all about those guys, those seniors, and their tremendous legacy.
January 11th, 2012 at 12:09 PM ^
Sounds to me like you're hearing football.
January 11th, 2012 at 6:56 AM ^
This is a tremendous thread. You sir are to be commended
January 11th, 2012 at 6:57 AM ^
to my F5 key that got replaced that week.

NEVER FORGET
January 11th, 2012 at 6:59 AM ^
So dreamy...
January 11th, 2012 at 7:04 AM ^
I think we can all forgive the photographer for not capturing the undoubtedly epic double point that was being sported during this photo. (it's more fun when they leave it to our imaginations...)
January 11th, 2012 at 7:09 AM ^
"Fergodsake day"?
January 11th, 2012 at 8:09 AM ^
this is a tremendous idea!
January 11th, 2012 at 7:46 AM ^
I was pretty mehhhh...umm okay. I was borderline angry even. However, after his intro press conference, I have been on board 100%! When he slams his finger on the podium when talking about Ohio and says "It's the most important game on the schedule" I still get chills!
January 11th, 2012 at 9:18 AM ^
It plays a hell of a lot better now that we know we beat Ohio.
January 11th, 2012 at 3:15 PM ^
Worked a lot better too after a win. But the attitude was right either way.
January 11th, 2012 at 8:10 AM ^
One of the greatest days of the year!
January 11th, 2012 at 8:12 AM ^
Many of us will celebrate Hokesday today, as is rightfully so. Some will celebrate tomorrow, Fergodsakes. Others in the Defense Orthodox tradition will choose to celebrate next Wednesday, January 18th, the Feast of St. Mattison. But still, Happy Hokesday.
January 11th, 2012 at 8:16 AM ^
Hail! GO BLUE and GO HOKE!
January 11th, 2012 at 8:43 AM ^
To think, a year ago we were all flight tracking planes across the country to see who our new coach would be, when the entire time, it was a man "walking" from San Diego who would revive Michigan.
Happy 1 year anniversary, Hoke! Sorry for ever doubting you. Go Blue!
January 11th, 2012 at 8:44 AM ^
I have a special prize for anyone who, onevyear ago, predicted that we'd finish 11-2 this year with wins over both rivals and a BCS bowl victory. Anyone?
January 11th, 2012 at 10:11 AM ^
it was not quite this good since Michigan did lose to MSU. Thus, Brady Hoke can't claim "wins over both rivals" this year. Unless we "beat MSU" by securing a better bowl bid than them, in which case I'll stop being a buzzkill.
January 11th, 2012 at 5:29 PM ^
But we did get wins over BOTH rivals
/that guy.
January 11th, 2012 at 8:45 AM ^
I just rewatched his first press conference. Damn we are a lucky bunch.
January 11th, 2012 at 8:59 AM ^
one year ago I drank a fifth to drown my sorrows. I will have a celebratory glass or four tonight.
January 11th, 2012 at 9:17 AM ^
...if it was a job requirement. That got me right away.
Love Hoke. Love Michigan. Love this thread!
January 11th, 2012 at 9:19 AM ^
The man, the moment, the circumstances, the players, the fans, the alumni, the athletic administration, the assistant coaches, et al meet in a perfect storm and sometimes they meet in an instant rainbow.......
Thanks for the rainbow Brady!

Are you sure it wasn't a DOUBLE RAINBOW?!

So on the Michigan Football calendar, does this make it Year One AH? Hope it proves to be the Year of the Denard.
January 11th, 2012 at 9:30 AM ^
The Michigan Football World (& calendar) shall from this day forth and forevermore be referred to as The Hokesphere
