General Excitement Thread - Specific Examples for the Upcoming Season

Submitted by mgobaran on

Okay. A lot of negativity on the board recently. Whether OL stuff, or, well just the OL stuff. And the scrimmage didn't seem to ease anyone's mind. Actually, it has seemed to make everyone feel even worse. Not to mention it is Monday, which is factually the worst day of the week.

Anyways, I am here to change all that!

Open ended question to the board; and remember folks, no wrong answers here.

What, specifically, are you most excited about for the upcoming season? No, not the ND game, or the night game against PSU. Not CBs, or LBs, or even JABRILL PEPPERS (which is officially its own position group as of right now).

Mine has to be the Dime defense. Even if it only shows up in 4% of this year's plays. Our corners going 5-6 deep has been an amazing revelation this offseason. No more white slot guys from CMU and Akron killing us up the middle. No more Indiana games. Come at us with 4 or 5 WR sets and see what happens! You got JMFR roaming in the middle, and Jabrill rushing in from the nickel. Or a safety in the box. Active and aggresive CBs in run support. And killer DE's to crush the QB.

IMO, this defense will be deadly in the few times we roll it out.

Okay, so what's yours?

12 days to kick off and I am still pumped! As always, GO BLUE!!

I'm very excited for the defense and in partiular, the defensive backs. I think that will be the best unit on our team this year.

I'm excited to see the progression of the Devin's and the young tailbacks. I think the O-Line is going to surprise people and I'm really looking forward to seeing how Nuss calls a game.
I'm also excite about Monkey Rodeo, because...always Monkey Rodeo.

Also really looking forward to how Nuss calls a game and the formations.  Right now we all have our guesses based on Washington, bama, what we’ve seen in spring/fall camp but really won’t know until ND, App St will probably be pretty vanilla still.  I hope that if the OL struggles he adjusts with 3-4 WR sets.

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it for a game when the D absolutely shuts down the opponent's run game.  I'm talking less than 40 yards as a team, and I'm talking at least a halfway-decent opponent.  When was the last time Michigan did that?

When Peppers gets his first pick, turns it up field, shakes off two tackles, gets a JRyan block running cross field before turning it up... 15, 10, 5 ... Touchdown.

Who needs offense?

I'm geeked about seeing DG audible much more often and check out of a running play when there's 8+ in the box.  Also really thinking that our special teams can be a truly consistent game changing strength.

You seem to be implying with your first paragraph and next line that you are changing today from Monday, which is exciting for me, and I greatly appreciate it.

Other than that, I tend to go into every football season with a bountiful enthusiasm, and not even negative posts about 300 pound men not doing man things can hold me back (much), SO, I truly am just thrilled to wake up on that first Saturday morning (NOT EVEN CARING WHO WE ARE PLAYING...[this is not 100% true this year]) and gleefully run around in circles for the next 5-6 hours in agony waiting for the game to start.

I am VERY optimistic about this year for the following reasons:

1. We have a proven, Senior QB

2. We have a new, proven offensive coordinator in Nuss

3. We no longer have Al Borges

4. Our defense is freaking loaded with talent

5. We have one of the best defensive coordinators in the country and he is about to unleash the dogs of war with an attack-oriented scheme

6. Our young, currently struggling offensive line has roughly two months to gell prior to the MSU game and the meat of our schedule.

7. Our special teams look rock solid

8. Our wide recievers are big, fast and extremely deep in talent

9. JMFR will be fully healed from his ACL tear and ready to wreck havoc on opposing offensives

10. Brady Hoke is willing to take chances on 4th down and plays to win, not to not lose

I guess I'd turn the question around and ask why should anybody be overly pessimistic about our chances?  I honestly dont understand that.

Even with all the hype. We haven't had a prospect like this in a very long time. I've been hearing it's real and I wanna see it. I want to watch him grow week in and week out and turn into a superstar before our very eyes. It's going to be something special to watch unfold.

I'm excited about our LBs and DBs.

I'm not going to get too excited about the DL just yet. Are they actually good or do they just look good going against the OL?

Excited to see what Canteen and Norfleet can do in this offense.

Started building this weekend and experimenting with polyurethane and paint. Going for a Crisler floor look.

Oh, and non-negative yardage plays.

for the WRs on offense and the DBs on defense.  I was at the scrimmage on Saturday night and both of those groups looked the part of being as deep as I can remember in the seven or eight years that I've been old enough to really know what's what.  If I have to pick an individual player: Darboh.

I am most excited for going up to East Lansing and coming away with a big, fat W as the Sparty faithful begin to realize that their time at the top has ended.

I"m looking forward to watching our Oline develop.  I think it's exciting.  These guys are still so early in their careers and majority of them still have about 40 games left to go.  I think their in better hands now with Nuss than they were under Borges.  The game to game adjustments should be much better this year.

1)The linebackers. In particular, I'm curious if the Joe Bolden hype is real.  I have been skeptical of his play the first two years.  Let's see this kid bring the lumber.

2)The DL.  Are they really going to be disruptive?  I hope so.

3) Running backs.  I want to see them get some day light and gain confidence.

1. JMFR laying the wood to MSU on Double A gap blitz with Bolden then watching GMat flip off Narduzzi. I hope the hand signal for this play is the one where he looks like he is tossing off. Wish I could find that gif.

2. Chip Kellys head exploding after the 3rd INT in the 1st half of the game.

3. Frank Clark gif of him walking away from Braxton Miller laying on the ground. Think Branch at PSU gif. Clark always seems to put a lot of hits on Miller. Miller always gets up slow but he gets up to his credit.

Wow, Chip Kelly is going to stop coaching the Eagles long enough to have a head asplode moment from ND getting destroyed?  I just imagine them cutting away the broadcast to to Chip Kelly sitting in a lazy boy, eyes bug out, *BOOM*!!  as it explodes they cut away to a nike logo on the wall splattering with some kind of red goo.  The victors begins playing in the background, fade to black.

That's not even getting into Brian Kelly!  Oh those Kelly's, crazy rascals.

It's Michigan Football. That's why I'm excited. It's my life.

Nothing like it. Hanging onto every play like it's life and death.

This may be the most important opener in my lifetime. Avenge, revenge. Win.

I'm very nervous for that first game. I hope Michigan beats them by 50.

I've already made most of my adjustments and updates to my weekly superstitions and routines. The gameday wear list is complete. Full speed ahead.

Yes, I plan out what I'm going to wear before the season. I've been doing that a long time.

Also, my jerseys are finally authentic

Guy on eBay makes them. NHL Patches is his name.

B1G patches

Legend patches

I'll be making a big order soon for some B1G patches for my 2012 alternates, Basketball jerseys and Hockey jerseys. I'm gonna need one for my UTL III jersey as well. Outstanding quality and easy to apply. They're iron-on.

Iron the patch, though. Not the jersey material. Also, make sure you have a piece of cardboard or something inside the jersey so it doesn't iron to itself.

MDen pretty much told me the reason the patches don't already come is that it's an adidas issue. They don't want to pay the B1G the extra $ for the patches. Same with paying the families of the Legend patches.
