Exit Biff Poggi

According to Bruce Feldman: https://t.co/4jdWqfnWm7

Poggi will leave at year's end to become the head coach at Charlotte. Thanks for you contributions Coach Poggi!

This sucks. Everyone seemed to love having him around and I don’t care who the head coach is, having a guy that will keep you in check is a good thing. Bummer.

I had a friend go to Charlotte so they buzz in my ears every once in awhile.  I believe that they've won a few bigger games the past few years and maybe went to a bowl.   They also have a billionaire donar who is interested in their athletics (I forget who.) and they are a growing school as people move South.

Going from HS coach to head college coach is a huge jump.  Seems like a great opportunity for Biff to build something.   Imagine the recruits he could get with Cade McNamara as his QB....

Oof. Happy for him, but man, if that article about his impact on the program is true... *tugs shirt collar* ... I'm a bit worried about a potential drop-off in the coming years.

Massive loss. As The Athletic article went into, he was not only a solid guy to have around regarding football but much more so behind the scenes as a communicator.

Some people don't want to believe it or hear it but Jim isn't very good at interpersonal relationships. He just isn't and you can all speculate why that is but he and his family have even joked about how it's been the case since he was a kid. He just has a way about him that can easily cause rifts & misunderstandings that eventually become issues.

You need to find another guy like him, another guy that Jim respects enough to actually listen to, a guy with the people skills to take care of issues that may arise in the program that he doesn't or can't deal with.

Because that Athletic article is just touching a bit on some of the things Poggi did at Michigan. I've heard some pretty unbelievable stories and I don't hesitate at all to say that we likely have a different HC today if Poggi didn't return when he did.

UM cannot go back to that.

I will concede that Harbaugh can be a tough person to deal with based off his personality and the way he communicates, but I find Harbaugh to be a very organized coach and someone who constantly knows how to build a coaching staff.  It often seems to be the case that whenever someone leaves, Harbaugh seems to find an upgrade (see D Brown, J Gattis, E Warriner, G. Mattison, etc.).  When these guys came to our program we were all super excited about them but I wouldn't have any of them back to replace any coach we have right now.  Harbaugh will figure it out.

Good luck to him; Charlotte is a tough place right now but it's a good opportunity for a guy like Biff if he can get some money and recruiting heading their way.

This was a great article. Thanks for sharing. Some of the Gattis comments are interesting about the offensive coordinator room last year, especially because Gaddis was the only one to leave…

Hard to say how much of this is a pluff piece, but it’s not a stretch to imagine, the fact that Harbaugh’s best two years at Michigan have come with best return . Hopefully there‘s not a drop off in culture, which had  been a problem in the past.

This is tough after just reading the Feldman article about Biff - who basically was puppet master in the background pulling strings to keep everyone moving forward together. Impossible to replace a guy like Biff, I feel like he's probably the biggest loss to the Harbaugh coaching/development tree next to Courtney Morgan going to UDub. But congrats coach Poggi & thanks for all the amazing work behind the scenes!

Morgan wasn't loved by everyone on the staff. His impact was more Ed Warriner, who had great results on the field at a time...but he wasn't liked either.

Poggi is loved.

This is a huge loss for a program that just got back on its feet.

Let's hope we're ready to run.

As a sidenote, Hart had a similar title at IU...maybe he steps in as Assoc. HC and continues what Poggi started.
