They took one...and he felt lied to.

If true, I'd be mad too. Not about competition, just about saying one thing and doing another.

I can't say that happened, I don't to believe it did...but nothing surprises me.

Seems like a similar situation with Jefferson and Grant Perry.

All I know is we need Wheatley Jr.

Anyone else out there?

I'm sorry, but this is completely absurd. If Weber or anyone else wanted to get the only ticket for a position group in this class, they should have told the staff before noon on national signing day. What the hell is our staff supposed to do? They waited until the very last day of the recruiting cycle for Weber and Jefferson; those guys didn't commit, so they filled those spots. This isn't deception. Weber should just avoid comment on this and move along. If anyone was "deceived" it was the M staff into thinking that Weber was still considering Michigan.

I totally agree with you. If this is true, then Weber is just talking a bunch of crap. He's putting a spin on the situation for his family members and friends who wanted him to come to Michigan. "They deceived me at Michigan, that's why I didn't go." Harbaugh needed a backup plan, and probably didn't wish to tell Higdon that his offer wasn't committable until Weber decided. That most likely would've just turned Higdon away and we would've possibly been left with no running back at all.

...all I was trying to do was try and make sense of why he'd come down to the very last moment. Tweet out that he was still deciding. Go back and forth.

...only to say he didn't trust Harbaugh. If he didn't trust Harbaugh, why wouldn't he have made the decision days ago, or weeks ago?

So he very well could be just making shit up to make himself feel better, usually in this situation people make up things to put their minds at ease. No matter how immature or false it may be.

However, if it is true...the only thing I can think of is he was told he'd be the only RB or something like that. I mean how else could Harbaugh become untrustworthy in the matter of hours? Because if he was untrustworthy before Weber went to bed...then it wouldn't even have been a decision. You go with OSU last night and no drama today.

So it had to have been something this morning (IF TRUE)...the only thing that happened was we got a RB commit.

But what do I know, maybe his family got a parking ticket on his visit and Harbaugh said he'd take care of it and Parking Services is still making Weber's family pay the fine. Maybe that's it.

Again, I'm CLEARLY speculating, I'm just trying to figure out how in the world could Weber's comment be true.

And some posters thoughts on "true" fandom... Even when OSU wasn't as solidly in the picture for Weber, the idea that he was Michigan's to lose was far from accurate.  In fact there was some substantial smoke around MSU and Weber right up until LJ Scott popped.  The ensuing tweets and interviews from Weber and his camp certainly suggested some of that as well.

As others have pointed out, you can't lose what you never had.

FWIW:Heard him on radio saying Urban told Weber if he could suit up Weber he would have him split carries with Ez.Elliot during Playoffs and that made a big imprsession on Weber.Of coarse that's just typical  Urban bull shitting a recruit.Hard to believe a kid would believe that sort of BS.

BTW, not Heitzman (or Pickard) hurts even more now.

Currently no blocking TE or SDE, both positions of need.

Wheatley and Johnson fit the bill and will have us at least filling every need.

maybe the coaching staff liked higdon better...maybe they thought they weren't going to get him and told weber that

...Urban 1 Jim 0

Let me stress that it doesn't bother me at all that Urban won this one.  Or at least it doesn't change my opinion of Jim in even the slightest.  But with all that talk about "Urban is impossible to say no to" and "Urban will recruit Michigan", this is something that I will put in the back of my mind in case it becomes a trend.

Weber was a Detroit guy, who committed to Michigan, understandably decommitted when Hoke was fired, then Michigan upgraded to probably one of the best college coaches in the game, but was unable to shake off the coach from a school he should have grown up hating. Maybe its an abberation...in fact it probably is.  But dammit I don't want to see many of these types of situations going their way over the next 5 years.

Urban had been recruiting Weber for a while. I mean well before Hoke got fired. I have to think if Harbaugh had as much time, he'd be blue.

Regardless of which state a recruit is from, Harbaugh and Urban are going to go after many of the same top ranked kids no matter if it's in Detroit or Cleveland. I'd say get used to it. It's going to make this rivalry great again.

If weber wanted to be the sole back he could have committed you know - any time in the past 3 weeks.

He did the same thing to MSU.  Once Larry Scott committed he ran from them too.  He wants the Shane Morris treatment - no other backs in my class.  If that's the case he chose the right place.  It was not wrong for UM to sit there and wait for him - he could have told Harbaugh yes yesterday, the day before, any of the days before.

Jewelry or no jewelry, jewelry or no jewelry, I'll take.........jewelry! Really tho, don't think other backs in the class has anything to do with it. The guy just went to a team with maybe the strongest backfield in the country. Not just Zeke, but Samuel, who a soph next year, and also a load of kids that were RB's in HS but are " athletes" now. All able to tote the rock. I'm not sure what pushed Weber to OSU, clearly he would get more playing time, and sooner here at UM. He certainly knows that, so that could not of been the driving force. I think that as much as I hate to say it, Weber wants to be on a winning team, not a win sometimes team, but a win every time team that could win it all at anytime. Hence the OSU pic, UM snub. Cause he won't see the field regularly for 1-2 seasons, and only then if he is everything he is cracked up to be. They have the current no.1 RB for 2016 committed too, and he won't be the last either.
