Doc Brown's Contract Details (he gettin' paid)

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

Details of DC Brown's contract have been released.  He's slated to make $2.7 million over the next 3 years; $850,000 this year, $900,000 in 2017, and $950,000 in 2018.  For reference, Durkin and Drevno made $800,000 for last season.

Also of note, his contract includes a $250,000 buyout if he terminates early.

I understand it's the recruiting busy season but does anyone else feel like we haven't heard barely anything from/about Brown since his hire? Does he have to finalize his hiring paperwork first from the university or something?

Pretty good money.  I know around AA the hope has been that he can slow down the spread attacks Michigan will see in the Big Ten.  Brown's results against Clemson were very good.  Fortunately I think the biggest tests for Michigan defensively against decent spread teams aren't until the last two weeks of the season, Indiana and Ohio State.  Colorado will not be awful but I believe Indiana is better on that side of the ball.

Boston College defense allowed less points against Clemson then Alabama (40 points allowed), Oklahoma (37 Points), North Carolina (45 Points), South Carolina (37 Points), Miami (YTM) (58 Points), North Carolina St (56 Points), Syracuse (37 Points), Georgia Tech (43 Points) and also Appalachian St and Worfolk. When you consider in the talent level (BC hasn't had a top 50 class in the last 4 years) and how putrid their offense is (#126 in total offense), then I would say that it was good.

He gets to coach the best athletes of his coaching career while getting paid this kind of money? What a way to ride off into retirement, Coach. Well done, and great hire.

I have a hard time believing that Drevno and Durkin only made $800.00 last year. If that is in fact true, I no longer blame Durkin for leaving, and think Drevno is an idiot for staying.

as Drevno and Durkin. We didn't break the bank to bring in a top DC. Compare that to some of the salaries in the SEC where many make over $1M. Interesting that Oregon is only paying their new DC $600K.

they are spending a lot less for their DC than most, if not all of their main competitors. I find that interesting when taking into account all their recent success and financial backing. Whether that means they are underpaying the coaches they hire or they are only hiring coaches they can get relatively cheaply is an open question.
