Dabo Trolls the Buckeyes AGAIN.

Dabo hammers OSU again on the amount of games they have played giving OSU more locker room blackboard material. This time he says that Clemson will have an advantage because they only have SIX game films to watch. I do think Clemson will beat OSU but Dabo is pretty confident right now. This game will be much more competitive than the Notre Dame/Alabama game for sure.

I hope Clemson wins. But Dabo should take a chill pill. Anyone who watched last year's game between the two could see OSU was the better team and Clemson got basically every possible break to squeeze out the win. Yes, I threw up in my mouth writing this

Not only are there few games to watch in preparation, OSU had few quality opponents to sharpen skills against. Clemson strength of schedule is similarly weak, with the exception of Miami, and ND twice. Next, OSU doesn't have much time to restore a healthy, high functioning roster. And, while Justin Fields typically looks good against average competition, with a 174 QB rating this year, he hasn't fared quite so well against stronger competitors previously. Dabo jabs likely fall on deaf ears in the Buckeye locker room. However, it drives OSU fans (Buckeye) nuts, so I am all in favor of it.

Right now, Dabo's behavior reminds me of a phrase my Grandpa always said:  "A scared dog barks the loudest."

Don't know why he is barking like this...I personally think Clemson will handle them.

Or maybe I am just hoping that is the case....sure don't want to see those dirtbags in the NC game again.

I have always preferred the quiet approach myself as well. Also feel that you and your team should be ready and willing to play any and all opponents regardless, especially if the goal is to prove that you are the best team in the country. That said, if he was heavily advocating for a specific team to make it over OSU, Cincinnati for example, then I could get behind him or at least not be so annoyed by him. The fact that he is complaining like a little bitch about the number of games they played just looks so bad to me. It comes off as being bitchy and whiny. I'd have a lot more respect for him if his response to an interview question regarding the situation was more of " we will be ready to play whoever they put in front of us, we believe we are the best and we can beat anyone" variety instead of crying about the number of games OSU played. Who gives a shit dude, go shit in their mouths.

This is a straw man argument.  I do not begrudge say, Belichick his $12.5 million.  He earns it.  And you could make a case for Swinney earning his 8 million or whatever...if the players were also getting paid at a similar level.  That they are not is immoral.  Which is bad.  But Swinney views that system as a moral good and that the players learn something from it.  Which is literally the theory of plantation owners in the 1850s.

I think he is giving it to them because they (OSU) believe they are in the same category as Clemson and Bama and he wants them to know big time that they are not. And they will show them this for the 3rd straight time in the playoffs this reality. It won’t be as big of a blowout as 2016 but it also won’t be as close as last year.

I know Dabo personally from coaching so long in SC and he has really changed the past three years especially. I will say that he absolutely despises Ohio State though and is NOT a big fan of Harbaugh either but that goes with a ton of other people including Nick Saban.

Dabo doesn't give a damn because Dabo has beaten Urban and Day.

If Harbaugh won in 2016 he'd have that kind of swagger too.  He was so close to getting it back in 18 as well.  That MSU post-game was vintage Jim.  Then OSU happened.

I kinda like it. Talk shit and then back it up. Clemson owns Ohio State as much as Ohio State owns us.

Wish Michigan was so damn good our HC could troll the opposing team in a CFB playoff game.  Oh well...that being said if he loses that crow is going to taste very nasty.

Somehow I find myself rooting for Alabama of this whole group because Saban seems the most normal/non-asshole guy of the group, which is an insane thing to type.

Of all the things that 2020 ruined for me this year, my love of college football might be the most painful.  In addition to the mess that has become our own football program - you have the infighting among conferences over Covid rules, you have games being canceled, you have commissioners fighting NIL for selfish and dumb reasons, and at the end of it all you have the same damn playoff mess.

Notre Dame has no business being in the playoff....Cincy was never considered and rated lower by the committee than either poll...and the other three teams are the same every year.  The playoff was meant to be more "fair" and instead what we're left with is that no non-P5 team has a chance and three of the spots are going to go to Bama, Clemson, and OSU so the rest of the entire sport is fighting for a single spot.  What's the point?  I never thought I'd be someone who missed the old bowl system...but here we are.

Let's hope 2021 gives us an improved Michigan program (whatever that means), NIL with some sanity behind it, and some momentum to a better playoff system.  My personal vote is bowls+4 - go back to the old bowl system for the most part and THEN pick the best 4 teams to play in January.  If that isn't an option, then I want a playoff where the P5 conference champs are auto-bids and so is the top G5 team with either 1 or 3 at large teams.

In the current format I can imagine the only way a G5 team gets in is if

1. they beat a good P5 team away from home in non-conference

2. win all other games by 3+ touchdowns

3. have established themselves as a program (think Utah, TCU, or Boise in the late '00s)

4. are competing with no more than three 0-1 loss P5 champs and/or 1-loss blue bloods

Considering #1 and #3 are at odds -- e.g. few power programs wanted a non-con with Boise -- then functionally it's going to be really tough to impossible

Houston from 2015 was probably the closest to this.  They beat Lamar Jackson-led Louisville early (also beat Vandy 34-0), destroyed basically everyone else, but they lost to UConn and that did them in.  Not saying they would have necessarily beaten out a 12-1 MSU team but neither MSU nor Iowa looked particularly scary as #4 teams and Houston has access to the type of talent that can make a G5 team look pretty competitive against the big boys.
