2nd round...tiiiight
ummm nope
I would assume he meant the best player on the defense that is in the draft. Everyone should know that Martin is the best. And I fully expect him to be a first rounder next year.
Congrats to Jonas, but I literally couldn't believe it when I heard his name announced
Wow... I mean, I know he's good enough to be drafted. But I did not think he would be taken in the second round! ... Congrats!
Kuiper just said Mouton was the best player on Michigan's defense. Hulk smash!!!
I think the Hair-Helmet meant best senior
I refer to Mel as Count Draftula.
I hate myself for that.
The Count...1...2....3....how many more linebackers for Coach Mattison to turn into all American players and draft picks over the next four years?
Count Chocula...have some chocolate milk on this and make former Coach Barwis happy after your workout.
Michael "the count" Bisping..."stop hitting me"
undercoached..?? or Both?
Congrats Jonas! Make us proud!
Kiper just said Mouton was the best player on Michigan's defense... Hulk Smash!!!!!
That definitely caused me to raise an eyebrow as well.
Mouton goes before Greg Jones. Suck it Sparty.
I'd rather have the consecutive All-American who gets drafted a little later than a guy with enormous physical potential who alternates fantastic and atrocious plays.
And yet... suck it, Sparty
To me a team taking Mouton before Greg Jones, is why the games played Saturdays are better than Sundays. We all love MIchigan and Jonas, but come on.
I remember they said that Dick Butkus couldn't beat an old woman in the 40, but put a guy with a ball out there during an actual game, and he gets faster than anyone else on the field. More overscouting by guys trying to outthink the room. Makes you wonder if scouts place much if any weight on actual game performance and production.
The reputation players have that attend the university of Michigan places them that much above the elite pro talent the spartans have been known not to produce.

I'm not sure about anything the scouts say anymore. I think it depends on who a team likes, what scheme that have and who fits best in that scheme. Mouton was graded as a 57 (according to ESPN analysts), but he still was drafted in the second round. Now I'm pretty sure that Jones was graded higher, but he's still available.
Did Jones even get drafted on day 2? Pretty funny since all year they said he was the best LB in the nation.

Mouton: 117 tackles (59 solo, 52 asst), 2 sacks, 1 FF, 2 ints
Jones: 105 tackles (49 solo, 56 asst), 1 sack, 3 FF, 2 ints
Jones may have contributed more throughout his career but his stats look very similar to Mouton's. Which considering how elite Jones was (especially if he was supposedly the best LB in the country) I'd say that says quite a bit towards how well Jonas played this year.

I mentioned this on my blog a few weeks ago, but Mouton arguably had the best statistics of any Big Ten linebacker this year. He led the league in tackles and tacked on a couple interceptions and sacks. If Michigan's team/defense overall wasn't such a disappointment, he might have been first team All-Big Ten. The dudes from OSU (Homan, Rolle) had paltry numbers in comparison.
I would never had thought that Mouton would go before Mallett.
Interesting point...
#1 LB pick from the Big Ten. #4 overalll LB pick in the draft. Way to go Jonas!
Mouton!!
didn't see that coming

haha forgot all about that, just another example of those family values breaking down at UM
Pretty crazy. Definitely happy for Mouton though.

The Pacific will stop him

facebook and thete was a like button, I would press it.
This almost makes me mad.
Well, I got to give our sports anchor (I work at a local tv station in SD) the lowdown on Mouton. My exact words were...
Me: "One game he'll make three tackles for loss and the next he'll lose contain on the outside because he made a terrible read/took a terrible angle and give up a 60-yd TD run."
Sports Guy: "So he's inconsistent."
Me: "On this Michigan blog I read, there's this thing called UFR which assigns pluses and minuses for specific plays. Mouton was the only guy capable of putting up +10 in good plays and -10 in bad plays."
Sports Guy: "Inconsistent. Got it."
Of local sports news announcing....
I feel like I could write a 100-page missive on Mouton with footnotes referencing UFR and MGoBoard comments, but he has approximately 45 seconds to cover Mouton and the other guy they chose in the 2nd round simply because he's got 3 minutes for sports and other stuff to cover.
You should be doing the sports. ;-)
Had to upvote that comment even if I have no desire to be on air.

Even a liability at times. But this pick shows that he didn't reach his potential at Michigan. Coaching maybe?
Awesome for Mouton! Very unexpected though... kinda had him pegged to go in the fourth round. What's next? Obi Ezeh and Martell Webb in the third?
Before Mallett. Mind blown'd.
awesome..who knew we'd be able to use someone from last years d as a recruiting tool.
Good luck, Jonas. Very cool.
Good Job Jonas hope you have a long and successful career in the NFL.
