along with Zoltan, Stevie, and Mathews. Good to see that Coner hasn't complained and stuck with the program all these years - even as a career back-up.

In tribute of his being bestowed this great honor, I am pleased to unveil a never-before-seen MGoShirt entry that was not used in the project. I give you this: tha notorious C.O.N.E. Word, David Cone. Word.

I don't think any player who earns a college scholarship comes in expecting to be a backup. He probably knew he had some things to work on, but when Cone was recruited, he was following a long list of Michigan quarterbacks who had done well in college, the NFL, or both. He probably thought he could sit the bench for a few years and then start as a senior or a fifth year or something. That probably never would have happened, but certainly not once Rodriguez got hired. Just once before this season (and probably his career) ends, I'd like to see Magee insert Cone and have him throw deep to Hemingway or Stonum on a go route.

Wow, didn't think this would ever happen. Major porps to Cone for sticking with it all these years. Also, I am starting to not mind the whole rotating captains thing, it does give guys like Cone a chance to be a captain for a day.

Right now I am envisioning the coin toss. The coin hits the turf; it comes up head, just like Cone predicted. On cue, Toney Clemons, who has returned for just this moment, plays a mad beat over the loudspeakers. Cone calmly pulls out the microphone he carries at all times, swaying to the music. Cone gets in the Indiana captain's face, rapping about the coming beatdown. All of Indiana cowers in fear. The crowd hangs on to his every word, inspired by the poetry and genius of his words. David ends it all with his trademark move, a spray of febreeze(that's febreeze, yo) which he had for just this moment. This is my dream.

Like a hollywood love story, I've fallen in love with Cone while knowing so very little about him. For instance, I know his grip on a clipboard is second to none, but beyond that, nothing . . . Does anyone have old school recruiting info? 3*? Highly recruited? When he cam in were people expecting him to compete for a job? I'd love to see some articles from his recruitment. I think someone needs to put together a Cone timeline so the mgoboard can fully appreciate his ascent to legend.

Complained and stuck w. the program? He never developed into a servicable QB, his body never really had to take any physical punishment, and he got to get a Michigan education for free. Sounds like he got a hell of a deal to me.
