I just checked Vegas. Partridge is a 4-1 favorite over Washington, and an 11-1 favorite over Mattison.

Great prop bet - Mattison soils himself before the 6th round...

I really want to see more anger and vitriol on our end toward Ohio State.

We don't come anywhere close to the insane anti-Michigan vitriol that they're expressing every single day of the year. You have to think that burning hatred gives them a slight motivation edge on us.

Ok - anger and vitrol, here we go. Your username is 'RyGuy', and I'm not okay with that because Ry is a shortened version of Ryan and OSU's head coach is named Ryan Day. That sort of thing is unacceptable here at MGoBlog and you should immediately change your username to something less treasonous.

Get back to me when that happens, thanks.

(Kidding, if it wasn't apparent. I agree that we need to match their level of intensity.)

Can't do it, sorry. Waaaaaay too many more evil institutions to hate with vitriol than OSU.

I do have a sense of pity for them though: people who think winning football games makes an "academic" institution superior rather than, ...well ....academics ......are just plain dumb.

OSU does do a great job of of babysitting future idiot NFL players for the NCAA, so at least they got that going for them.

I know I’m stepping on shaky ground with this post and it’s certainly not with the intention to be a dick.   This quote sums up the real life approach 24/7 365 for OSU. How do you show respect for a rivalry? You work it every single day. The minute you say that you’re a Buckeye, this is part of your life.” -- Urban Meyer

The opinions about UM are well known but nobody historically has been better in rivalry games.  Without looking it up I think he was 25-3 over his career.   I know (most of) what OSU does in their approach.   The countdown clock, every practice has something related to The Game etc. but I don’t know what UM does.  I think there is more than enough vitriol on both sides but I don’t know if the focus is the same? I’m not saying it should or should not be, just curious about the approach.

Good. That's exactly how they should all feel.

Fuck this coaching fraternity bullshit. Guys like Izzo and Mattison deserve no quarter (albeit, for entirely different reasons).

So, are  you telling me, in all those years of earned, designed and observed camaraderie directed at a single target to win a national championship and beat their #1 rival Mattison missed the major reason he was paid heavily?

Are you telling me in years of meetings wearing the "M" and cashing his check regularly he did not think what he did was gagging?

Chris Partridge is pridefully correct.

It is not OK.

How does a recruit react to this significant backstabbing event?

Based on how our season ended, players sitting for bowl games, losing a winnable bowl game after we got curb stomped in Columbus and then the coaching departures, it sure feels like there was a heck of a lot more going on in the locker room than had been made public.  Any one of those things by itself, especially players sitting out a bowl game is not a big deal.  The totality if it all certainly indicates something was broken in a big way.

Same.  Nothing is sadder than Michigan fans/staff/related people who don't take the rivalry with Ohio State seriously.  You can mock the crossed out M's and TTUN stuff, but the fact is that they live and breath to beat us.  It's about time somebody on our staff showed some pride for the school

Put up a countdown clock, call em 'Ohio'.  Spend 20 minutes a practice breaking down their tendencies all year.  Treating them with respect or like anyother game clearly isn't working.  Hell, look at the boost in our performance against Michigan State once we took them seriously, stomping on their field and standing up to them.

I'm no fan of Brady Hoke, but the best thing about his tenure was the way he treated Ohio State and The Game.  No matter how underdeveloped or miscoached his teams were, they played Ohio State toe-to-toe with anger and aggression.

Good.  We need to start hating them more.

I'd also like to see a clock (calendar at this point) showing how long it has been since we last beat OSU.  And a carpet in the locker room with the score of last year's game on it.

Not a carpet.

A super-sized pink teddy bear, with the year and score embroidered into the belly.  One for every consecutive loss.  Pack the room with pink teddy bears.  Want more room to put your stuff?  Win The Game.  Win a game against OSU, one of the bears is removed and destroyed.  The players even get to choose how.

Otherwise, it's finishing practice after practice staring at a bunch of pink plushies in the locker room.

Added bonus, a little side money for local Etsy folks.  I personally don't know any, but hey, it's a way to get that B1G money trickling down.

I just can't harbor any vitriol towards Washington - a young coach, on the rise, gets a promotion to go back home.  Just can't blame him for that.  If anything, he probably deserved some heat from OSU fans for coming here.

Mattison is another story altogether.  His departure is nothing more than a shot at Michigan in general, and Harbaugh in particular.  It simply cannot be read any other way.  JmfH can't say anything - nothing - without being pilloried in the press for dumping on some poor, hapless assistant coach.  Mattison knows exactly what he did, and he can rot in the hell he dug because of it.

I'm glad Partridge sounded off, and hope more coaches and players do so, as well...

Fuck Mattison to fucking hell.
