Chip Kelly supposedly working on a deal to become next head coach of Tampa Bay Bucs...wtf?
Per some twitter reports, Chip Kelly will be the next coach at Tampa Bay. I find this absurd. It makes me wonder if some serious sanctions are coming the Ducks way.

Wonder who would replace Kelly if this rumor were to become factual. Lot of hearsay Oregon could hire Petersen. That'd be ridiculous to watch

what does an eyeball and Sparty's dirtball DE have to do with an eagle? crazy
January 22nd, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
Welp it looks like Denard might get drafted at QB after all.
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
Darin Thomas is going pro this year
January 22nd, 2012 at 9:37 PM ^
If (when) Denard has a stellar season next year and shows he can be a capable passer at the next level, what are the chances that a Kelly led Bucs team drafts him as their dual threat QB. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. That could be his best bet if he wants to play QB rather than receiver in the pros.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:37 PM ^
Probably be cool for Denard to play pro ball back in Florida too

If Kelly is moving to Tampa Bay for the money, Nike, errrr Oregon, will match whatever the Bucs are offering him to stay with the Ducks.
January 22nd, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
Kelly is intrigued by the challenge of coaching at the highest level and not having to deal with parents and the NCAA oversights that are inherent to coaching in college, the source told Schad
Saw this on the ESPN article. Kelly probably doesn't want details like this floating around.

This little morsel of information is so delicious.

Bet RR is kicking himself right now, having missed out on the Oregon job.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:26 PM ^
Wow, that would be some big change. He would have Josh Freeman, a mobile quarterback that can make most throws. A few scheme changes, and bringing something most people haven't seen to the NFL could work.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:33 PM ^
Josh Freeman is about as mobile as my dead grandmother...
January 23rd, 2012 at 12:53 AM ^
do you think he is mobile just because he is black? he's a pocket guy. nothing close to what Kelly is used to.
January 23rd, 2012 at 7:59 AM ^
I think you mean he's athletic. As opposed to gritty or heady.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
Kelly cancelled recruiting visits in Sacramento, CA this evening. Change may be coming soon in Eugene.
January 22nd, 2012 at 10:43 PM ^
Kelly's offense appears to have much more sophisticated passing concepts than what Rodriguez and Meyer offer. Wouldn't be surprised if he succeeded at the pro level.
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
Chip Kelly's offensive sytem, schematically wise, is simple and does not have a ton of plays. The offense work is due to the pace they set with the super uptempo no huddle offense.
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
Man I bet Pharaoh Brown is in full-on panic mode right now, scrambling to find Coach Hoke's cell number.
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:19 PM ^
It will be the football equivalent to Paul Westhead: LMU-Denver Nuggets-oblivion
Good luck ducking those sanctions Chip
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:23 PM ^
I can't believe Kelly would leave Eugene and Phil Knight's unlimited bankroll for the headaches of the NFL. He won't last out whatever contract he gets with the Bucs.
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:43 PM ^
Assuming Kelly goes to the Bucs, would we try pursue Stanford again? We could definitly use another WR
January 22nd, 2012 at 11:52 PM ^
There must be some shit about to go down up in Eugene. Why would you leave all that sweet NIke stuff?
January 23rd, 2012 at 12:49 AM ^
This is a terrible time for them to lose their coach, too. There's no way they find someone before NSD.
January 23rd, 2012 at 1:22 AM ^
Losing your two most explosive players probably doesn't help either a la Urban Meyer. Stock is high so cash it in...and yeah, he's gotta be running from something.
January 23rd, 2012 at 5:22 AM ^
Woke up to this just now, broke around 3 AM.
January 23rd, 2012 at 5:32 AM ^
Chip Kelly's stock is rising...the laughing stock that is. Never under any circumstances trust anyone who wears a visor!!! Its for Spurrier and 50+ year old, female golfers, in the movie Caddy Shack only!
January 23rd, 2012 at 6:28 AM ^
and there are transfers and decommits, i wonder how RR will do in channeling that talent to the wildcats.
and if he stays...ignore post.
January 23rd, 2012 at 7:51 AM ^
He's staying. I can't start a new thread and it probably doesn't need one.
January 23rd, 2012 at 7:53 AM ^
Who can Michigan pick up? Maybe Pharoah Brown and Dwayne Stanford. Evan Baylis is a name I vaguely remember at a position of need-ish (unless Brown flips back--would Michigan take 3 tight ends?). Byron Marshall is in the Hoke recruiting footprint, and at a position where we're recruiting, but he's not the type of back that Michigan would want (Scout lists weaknesses as 'power' and 'toughness.'). I think RR might benefit from this, actually.
I'm pretty surprised with how not outstanding Oregon's class is. I thought they'd be able recruit better than what I'm seeing here.
EDIT: Oh well.
January 23rd, 2012 at 7:56 AM ^
He is staying at Oregon so USC hasn't won the 2012 Pac-12 championship....yet.
