Holy f*ck all you people driving your imports should remember that Michigan residents still depend a heck of a lot on the success of the big 3 and their vendors for their income.  I live in DC, also known as the District of Corollas and my wife and I proudly drive our twin Ford Escapes.

Do make  yourselves feel better by buying into the nonsense that companies like Toyota and Nissan employee more Americans and that it's better for Michigan's economy that the big 3 be dominated by the Hondas of the world...

The big 3 vehicles are all substantially better than they were in the 70's and 80's, and if you aren't going to give them a try, the least you can do is not downvote a Michigan guy for preferring them.

and shove it. They are corporations. They don't care about you or I.(which is why they sent their factories overseas). Corporations look out for themselves which is understandable. They aren't charities. They exist to make profits.

Stop  it with with the economic nationalism bullshit. My grandfather served in the Pacfic. He had a helluva lot more on the line than any lineworker does and he didn't care that my Dad bought a Nissan(and then Hondas). That's more than good enough for me.

I have been in the automotive business for over 35 years. My company supplies tooling for the automotive industry. And we build tools for all the Big 3 and the Japanese. BMW as well at times. It’s a crazy business to be in with all the ups and downs.

Japanese brand pickup trucks sell all over the world but in the U.S. they just cannot break into the Ford, Chevy and Chrysler loyalty. U.S. brands control 93% of the pickup truck sales. They are all assemble in North America (Mexico and Canada) with parts coming from all over the world. It’s a worldwide industry.

Interestingly, Michigan still produces more autos and truck than any other state in the U.S. And Camaro production will move to Lansing next year.

Tier 2 automotive supplier here. We make parts for everybody. There are more jobs & benefits created within the supply chain than from the OEM, so it doesn't really matter if you want to drive a Ford or Nissan. I think automakers should be rewarded for design & quality before some sense of misguided nationalism.
