Championship game tickets

Just got the email from the Athletic Department about potential championship game tickets. Face value is $450-$1000!!! I'm sure demand will be crazy if UM is in the game, but those prices are nuts.

That is listed price. It would be interesting to know if any of those are actually selling. It seems hard to believe that there are 70k people out there who would pay $500+ to go to a football game. It'll be interesting to see what happens to secondary market prices as the game gets closer.

Never. I mean NEVER would I have dreamed this up for this year. Crazy. I love Michigan, but I love this particular team. Something about this team is my favorite all time. I've been a hardcore fan for 30 years but this team has something special. I would pay that to see this team in the National Championship. (weird even typing that)

Rather than spend that kind of money to be up in the nosebleed section with a marginal view, I think I'd rather be home with friends and family, steaks, ribs or some other delicious meat, a veggie tray to give it the appearance of being a healthy meal, and plenty of cold and hot libations to cheer everyone's mood.

I think I could find better ways to drop $4-7K needed to take my son to that game (when you count flights and hotel)

but man it's tempting to book a surprise Christmas vacation for my family to Florida for some sun and the beach...

"Oh and honey, since we are already here...."

maybe I'll settle for a new TV instead

I put in my request. At my point level, they’re only allowing me to request two tickets. I did get tickets for the Georgia game…so crossing my fingers for the Championship game!

I was planning to go to the championship game, but $1500 is a bit steep.  I have family in Indy so won’t have to pay for a hotel but still…. I’ll make that decision on Jan 1

I put in my request. I was just above the cutoff for Orange Bowl tickets so I don’t anticipate getting any. However, you never know unless you try.

Every fan base in the playoff is within reasonable driving distance too (about 7-8 hours for Bama and Georgia fans) so I imagine this will be a pretty pricy ticket regardless.

They are putting restrictions on the higher donors for the number of tickets.  Honestly I’m kind of expecting the priority points value to be slightly lower than the orange bowl.   That being said the higher up donors got a chance to purchase additional orange bowl tickets after they were all “sold”.

Think of the demand this game would have. … when was the last time Michigan was in a game that could decide the national championship.   Georgia has been in the same boat.

If upper bowl tickets for the orange bowl are $600-700, what would a national championship game go for within driving distance of the school.  $1000 is cheap.

That being said I’m highly considering buying tickets if I don’t get any from the school on Dec 17th.  If we don’t make it, there will be a lot of demand from Georgia on the Orange Bowl winner side.

The thing is the big donors are being allowed to request 6 tickets each, which will probably eat up a good chunk of the ticket allotment.

I don't know what the cutoffs for the Orange Bowl was.

With the secondary market like it is now, I suspect everyone is asking for tickets whether they intend to go or not, which is kind of a bummer.  I wish they could prevent people from just flipping them.

Just FYI in case it's applicable, if you received an email from Tom Baird (University Development), they are also allowing you to get 4 tickets for the Orange Bowl and Championship Game through them as well.
