Braylon's brother Berkely, class of 2013

Submitted by Frank Drebin on

The guy who wins this race running 3rd from the left is Berkley Edwards, Braylon's younger brother. Next to him on his left is DeAnthony Arnett and Justice Hayes. He is a class of 2013 player, and scout has him listed at 5'8 165lbs and says he is a RB/WR recruit. I haven't heard anything about him other than what I have stated. Has anyone? Also, has Braylon said anything about the new coaching staff since the change? He had been somewhat outspoken against RR and his staff, so I am not sure if any bridges have been mended. It would be nice to pull in a legacy recruit with his speed. It would also be nice to see him grow a few inches in the next few years as well.

Well, he certainly seems to have lots of potential, but the decision would have to involve

BRAYLON EDWARDS(!).

After all,

BRAYLON EDWARDS

was the person behind the #1 jersey.  As you may know,

BRAYLON EDWARDS

wore the #1 at Michigan and made it famous.  Who else but

BRAYLON EDWARDS

could do that?

Sorry, Braylon -- I enjoyed watching you play at UMich as much as anyone the past 20+ years.  No offense!

has Richardo Miller listed as a WR, interestingly enough he is the exact same size as Braylon is IIRC, 6'4'' 215lbs.

Also were Miller a TE he'd be our smallest TE by far. I doubt he'd get moved especially since the only TEs on scholarship are sitting at 250, and 255.

LOL .....yeah!  who would've thought that actually playing football should factor into whether not a player gets the #1 jersey?? not me, I stay up all night making list after list including probabilities and likely variables of who will be the next player to receive the #1 jersey.

I also have depth charts all the way up through 2023 you guys might be interested in....I've spent a lot of time on this and it's calculated purely and accurately using only the latest cold hard science.

EDIT:

Yes, the 2023 players may only be 5 years old or so right now but I know a 5 star when I see one.  $$$$$$

Keep in mind that Class of 2013 means mid-way through his sophomore year in high school right now. And that height/weight probably comes from the school's media guide from summer measurements. So you're talking about a guy who is almost certainly still growing.

Jesus, he better be praying for a growth spurt. How the hell is Braylon 6'3 and him 5'8, old man edwards must have not eaten oysters that day

On average, growth starts to slow around age 15, but doesn't stop -- he would have to beat the odds to reach 6' from 5' 8" at age 15 -- 5' 10" is the norm for that, but it's not like nobody ever ends up taller than that. To go from 5" 8" at 15 to 6' at 20 is to go from the 50th percentile to the 75th -- a big jump, but not unheard of.

Everyone grows differently. A great check is how tall was Braylon at that age? I've been 5'11'' since I was 14, but like the poster below says, he grew later than I did.

If we want to project Berkely's growth we should look at Braylon's

We're not talking about absolutes here. A major surge in growth that begins after turning 16 is not common. I gather chitown.victor was 5' 10" by age 16 -- he had a late surge at age 15, which is at the very end of when that kind of thing usually happens, but still within the window. It would be rare for someone to start growing that much after age 16, and extremely rare after age 17.

Assuming the 5' 8" measurement is from age 15, Berkeley could easily be 5' 10" by age 16, at which point 6' is the average at 20. But if he's not 5' 10" by age 16, then his chances of reaching 6' 0" drop considerably. There are no absolutes other than most boys are done growing by age 20. The odds are what they are.

I have four brothers -- we range in height from 5' 9" to 6' 2" -- it's hard to imagine that we all grew at the same rates. Braylon's history likely has no bearing on this.

...but I will anyway to prove a point.  I was 5'4" to start my sophomore year of high school.  Twelve months later, I was 5'10"; and when I started my senior year I was 6'0".  I am not saying this kid will grow 8 inches in two years, but even if he grows half of that he will be around 6'0", or roughly the same height as Braylon's underrated "sidekick" Jason Avant.

Edwards finished 7th overall at this meet. For what it's worth, Delonte Hollowell beat all of them and finished 2nd, running .11 faster than Berkely

I was at a homecoming festivity at my local high school on sunday and I was amazed at the difference in stature.  I never thought that there was that big of difference between then few grades, but it was absolutely amazing.  The senior class looked like grown men and the freshman and sophomores looked like little kids.  This kid more than likely has some serious growing to do and hopefully he is just getting started.

The bitter irony in all this...  5'8" and fast  at WR or RB would have been fine and  a perfect slot dot for "RR's Uof M" but unless he grows quite a bit, he will most assuredly be too small under "Brady Hoke's Uof M".

When Berkley gets passed over does Braylon once again turn on his school and his coach? hmmm
