I was at the osu game last year. Not nearly as many buckeye fans as people think. Somehow, Michigan fans showed up in a big way. We actually stood for every play and it was loud as hell in there.
April 13th, 2014 at 11:54 PM ^
Cool story, Braxton. You can take your spring game attendance and shove it. I'd rather lead the nation (the whole world actually) in regular season attendance every year, thanks.
April 14th, 2014 at 10:00 AM ^
I would rather have both. Its not an either or thing.
April 14th, 2014 at 11:18 AM ^
Except one is important and the other could not mean any less.
I think some would argue that both are meaningless.
Anyone who argues that game attendance is meaningless is an idiot.
Ticket sales lead to money for the AD, which leads to money for the program, which leads to shiny new things, which leads to recruits, which lead to winning. And winning is the point.
April 14th, 2014 at 11:57 AM ^
YEEEEAAAAH! We have more seats than YOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUU!!!!
Other schools could build more seats than us. It's not like they're all restricted by zoning laws or whatever. They just aren't confident they can fill them up. PSU hasn't been able to, for one. So we can have some measure of pride that we lead the nation in attendance annually.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:00 AM ^
Good luck to you next season Braxton, because after next year no one will know what happens to you since you won't be shit in the NFL. Too personal?
April 14th, 2014 at 12:39 AM ^
I couldn't care less what he does in the NFL. Would much rather see him go 2-2 against us... sigh...
You and everyone else bashing this kid are comically pathetic. Notice how I put kid in there? A kid said some negative things about his rival school's fans and now you're all kinds of butt hurt. Grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:01 AM ^
Then I call out his throwing motion.
And my AD can beat up his AD.
Srsly.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:08 AM ^
We talking about practice man, practice.
April 14th, 2014 at 10:07 AM ^
even funnier that the guy talking shit didn't practice.
April 14th, 2014 at 10:12 AM ^
Does this really qualify as talking shit?
April 14th, 2014 at 12:16 AM ^
Geeez... Didn't even know DG was THAT bad in the spring game (mentioned in article)... Nuss and Co. have quite a lot of work to accomplish before August 30
April 14th, 2014 at 12:22 AM ^
Who gives two fucks?
Michigan had 2,000(!!) in 1997.
Real bad year then, huh?
Your knowledge all things Michigan continously amazes me. Beyond a doubt.
But you can even give attendance figures for a spring game almost 20 years ago? I guess you could search the googles, but I would be surprised if it would come up with that.
Well done sir, I don't know if your user name was bestowed upon you, but no one deserves it more than yourself.
April 14th, 2014 at 10:03 AM ^
1986 was the second largest crowd at 44,000. Anything before that, attendance records are non-existent.
That was broken in 2009 with 50,000.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:24 AM ^
Michigan's spring game attendance being low is probably because there are actually things to do other than watch a practice in our state.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:27 AM ^
Like watch Michigan Softball which was going on at the same time on campus.
Guess who they played, and shut out, and swept?
April 14th, 2014 at 12:42 AM ^
Or enjoy a pastime they are fail to enjoy themselves. Successfully spelling 4 letter words.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:25 AM ^
"Michigan, who held their spring game April 5, drew about 15,000 fans on April 15."
.....
April 14th, 2014 at 10:54 AM ^
So that's what the confusion was about. They all showed up 10 days after the big game!
April 14th, 2014 at 12:42 AM ^
Hold on a second.....ohio charges admission for a glorified practice? LOL
Priced at $20 and $12. What a bunch of losers.
Meanwhile Michigan's practice is free admission with concession and proceeds from concourse donations going to Mott Children's Hospital.
...for the riot control Stryker somehow...
Ohio State eventually lowered the ticket price from $20 to $5. Oh, and proceeds from all ticket sales supported both the LiFE Sports program and the Boys and Girls Club. These two programs benefit some 700 of Columbus’ underprivileged youth during four weeks in the summer with athletic camps, clinics and two meals a day on Ohio State’s campus.
April 14th, 2014 at 11:37 AM ^
ummm wouldn't that be more of a testament about how passionate their fans are that they are willing to actually come to their spring game and pay?
April 14th, 2014 at 12:45 AM ^
What's he going to do in the NFL?
April 14th, 2014 at 10:31 AM ^
Who cares? He still plays for Ohio and will be really good this year. The game in Cbus is going to be a nightmare for us.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:49 AM ^
He played a bullshit schedule and sucks. They played teams at the end an lost.
April 14th, 2014 at 10:23 AM ^
Their schedule was weak, yes, but he certainly doesn't suck.
They lost to teams? No wai.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
Why is this a front page story on ESPN? College kid runs his mouth (or twitter). Who gives a rat's ass?
is the TMZ of sports media
April 14th, 2014 at 12:22 PM ^
This is an insult to TMZ
April 14th, 2014 at 12:51 AM ^
pop up sports sites? is it really entertaining on any level? its "meh/fluff" rivalry stuff.. I don't even mind what he said. i care more that its getting so much attention. clearly UM doesn't struggle filling the big house for games which is all that matters. a lot about nothing here.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:51 AM ^
Perhaps Mr Miller would be interested in the minor detail that the Spring Game (etc) fell on the opening weekend of Spring Break for Ann Arbor Public Schools. I reference this because most of my fellow devoted local fans especially those with kids are elsewhere for a few days recovering from the past 100-year winter.
I also feel like Michigan is purposefully using this as a media tool. Look rusty/bad/struggle in the spring game? The media is going to be running with that punch line all summer long. That gets into other coaches/fanbases/players minds that we are stuck in 30 for 30. I don't think we really are, wait 4 months for it, but consider being able to play from a "stealth" position of public hype in 2014, vs. a position of great and wonderous land-of-mike-and-honey-type hype in 2013.
Mr Miller also might consider he doesn't have a full senior OL this year, his buddy Mr. Hyde is pursuing other interests thus making Miller the biggest bullseye on the field, and that a certain Mr. Clark might really hurt him if he comes off the end, unblocked, this fall.
April 14th, 2014 at 12:57 AM ^
And Hash Bash. Which was 10x more entertaining walking through downtown smelling weed/seeing the stoners than watching stretching and drills.
But it's cool. It was just a light hearted jab from a rival. Don't go justifying anything like there's anything that needs to be justified.
They don't call it the Big House for no reason. We are there when we need to be.
I still was 1 of the 15K there. Even though I've sworn off going next year unless it's a better format, even I know I'm full of crap.
I got there when the gates opened, like a dweeb.
April 14th, 2014 at 10:24 AM ^
Did you really dump the dope?
Really?
Braxton Miller is from Ohio, lives in Ohio, and attends college at Ohio state. If that isn't enough, just consider what the average Michigan Student or alumni (or state resident for that matter) was up to on their "spring game" saturday compared to any Ohio State student, alumni, native. This isn't even friendly jabbing, i mean seriously consider it. You can't argue with stupid, but you can smugly be aware that you are just a better human being.
Pooping on park slides?
April 14th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
Want to be a better human being? Saying that you are "smugly aware that you are just a better human being" is a bad way to go about it.
Hey Braxton, you know what's good for shoulder pain? If you lick my butt hole.
I laughed out loud... I'll never grow up and I'm OK with that... I'd up vote you but no puedo porque estoy en Bolivia.
