this is Tennessee fan said this about the SEC when bama/LSU were on top and we all said only the top teams mattered....we're not a top team in the big 10, we're Tennessee in the middle to back half bragging because our top teams produced and i dont like it and refuse to talk crap to SEC fans.

Really interested to see how espn will try to spin this I'm going to go with "the SEC was burnt out from a grueling conference schedule" excuse.

The Big Ten needed that game but now I hope that Oregon wins. Please let Harbaugh be watching this. We can beat OSU next year. Maybe won't get to this point next year but I hope one day we will get here. Congrats Bucks but time for Michigan to come back.

Don't forget Wisconsin's win over Auburn today.

Ohio State just beat #1 Bama, and MSU beat #5 Baylor.

The B1G was strong this season and proved it in the Bowl games.  Now I hope Harbaugh can help us join the party sooner rather than later.  Ohio State will be the #1 team next season and MSU will be top 10 so he has his work cut out for him.

Yes, but what does the big ten being good really mean for us? We recruit most of our players out of Ohio not Alabama or Louisiana. Recruiting against a guy who just beat Albama is a lot worse than recruiting against a guy who just lost to Bama with a rival who just got a rockstar coach. I'm pretty Michigan already gets their guys without having to rely on conference pride. What if Peoples Jones chooses one of our two rivals over us because of their Cotton Bowl/Sugar Bowl wins. That would suck. We weren't going to get a lot of guys to come here from southern states regardless if the SEC wins these bowl games or not because of location, bagmen, etc.

I know it's fun to mock the SEC because they believe that their conference (when really it's just Nick Saban) is the best conference in the country. Michigan, like Ohio State or USC or Notre Dame or Alabama, does not need to be in some great conference to succeed. Having our archrival play and possibly win the national title after we bring in the hottest coach in the country is not good for us.

If playing in a conference that is thought of as better would help you land the 4 spot, TCU would have gotten in over OSU. They didn't because it's about your program, not your conference.

Didn't stop Pete Carroll from going to the BCS national championship game that the Pac 10 sucked. Didn't stop Mak Brown from going to the BCS national championship that the big 12 sucked. Didn't stop Bob Stops from going to the BCS national championship that the Big 12 sucked. Didn't stop Jim Tressel from playing in 3 BCS national championships that the big ten sucked. This is like the playing well in the big ten tournament makes doing well in the big dance difficult meme that we debunked last year. Just win your games.

Nothing wrong with taking something good away from something bad.

Did we want OSU to win. No GD way.

But since they win,  it will help to make the Big Ten look less inferior on the national stage . Great selling point to recruits. come to Michigan where we will beat those Buckeyes.

Everything is coming up HARBAUGH .

My office is full of SEC and Big XII fans. I am the lone B1G fan and will cherish the humble pie being eaten. Unfortunately, living in Arlington means I have to put up with a bunch of buckeye fans next weekend.

I'm on record as hating the CFB hyper spread systems that are becoming ubiquitous. The title game will feature the creator of the hyper spread and a coach who had slowly morphed from a basic read option to more of a hyper spread. Seemingly, anyone can play QB in the system. IMO, Oregon well have to pay their best game to win. Speed is almost equal but size is not. Never would have very against Saban vs Meyer with a 3rd string QB (the last viable option) given a month to prepare. Never. "Didn't come here to play school, barely won the 3rd string spot in the fall" Jones just beat Bama. Wow. Kudos.

We have to stop the mentality that OSU and MSU losing in bowls is great. I'm all for schadenfreude, but we've had such a bad football season before the past week that I'm happy OSU and MSU and the rest of the B1G won. I'm so sick of hearing the B1G is weak and the SEC is so great. We had a bad season, but we played a much harder schedule than we thought. Also, if OSU and MSU had lost, do you think a 1-loss B1G team makes the playoff next year? Already people were saying that OSU didn't belong in the game. Fuck that. Michigan just had the other half of the perfect storm happen. Now the B1G East is the premier conference with the best coaching, national success, etc. Michigan will be competing in that conference. Thank you to the rest of the B1G for showing up this bowl season and hopefully Iowa continues the trend vs Tennessee today. Who's got it better than us?

Today is a pretty big day for the Big Ten vs SEC debate. While it may not look like much, Tennessee vs Iowa is a huge game. Proponents of the SEC say their conference's bottom teams are better than the Big Ten's middle of the road teams which makes it vastly superior. Tennessee has definitely been a lesser SEC team through the last decade. Iowa has been a middle of the road Big Ten team.

Iowa wins, that thought can go out the window. Tennessee wins, and the SEC still goes 2-2 vs the Big Ten in bowl season. 3-3 on the year as Mizzou last to IU but Wisconsin lost to LSU during the regular season. I'm actually pumped for that Tennessee/Iowa game to be honest.
