It was always Indiana back in school. Illinois and OSU were there too. This was long before Izzo. North Carolina was also tops on the hate list.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I just don't get it I guess.||
I just don't get it I guess. I thought we were going to do alt unis once. ONCE. Now I find myself cringing at more of these, even the basketball ones, than I can say I like. I also agree with others here who say the players would never say they don't like them. Apparently, The Team The Team The Team now includes the uniformz.
That said, the blue pants don't bother me, but these designers have to edit themselves. Stop with the pants. The yellow shoes are a distraction, and the damn stripes on the numbers make no sense at all. Does anybody here think of stripes when they think of Michigan?
It's time to stop all of this before all-yellows are brought out.

I was visiting AA with a friend from high school to check out the school. We picked the best possible weekend. We scored tix to the game, sat in the 2nd row in the freshman section behind the endzone. Yes, of course we ran onto the field at the end of the game! It was the most fun I'd ever had at a sporting event.
The next year I was a student with season tix. My friend ended up at BU. (We still argue about college hockey.)

I miss those defenses Carr would have every few years.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||awesome||
And I'm a life-long (embarrassed by the team) Yankee fan.

So Braxton thought he'd go for a troll
|21 weeks 1 day ago||Wasn't it April 5th?||
It was my 20th birthday, April 3rd, and hash bash when they beat Illinois on Higgins' put back in the national semifinal. Or was I too drunk to remember that correctly?
|25 weeks 6 days ago||see me in the nosebleed seats?||
I was just a freshman and back then, the students sat in the rafters
|26 weeks 5 days ago||if he wasn't so athletic||
you're right. He did a great job of getting between those guys, elevating an hitting that shot off the glass. (This is where we do not mention that Spike was left wide open underneath the basket with 2 seconds left for an easy pass.)
|28 weeks 1 day ago||January appreciation thread?||
Had anyone started one yet? I miss January.
|30 weeks 1 day ago||dammit||
I know it's not the end of our big ten champ hopes, but I'd reeeeaaaallllllly like to win in Indiana. When I was at UM, in the late 80's early 90's, they were the team to beat and were our true rivals. Illinois was probably second in that regard.
|34 weeks 6 hours ago||Totally blasé||
I got stuck on the subway and made it home for the final 5 or 6 plays of the game. From the way Musburger was calling the touchdown you thought he was about to take a bathroom break and come back for the second half.
|34 weeks 2 days ago||If Craig Bohl is successful at Wyoming...||
He will be the hot coach to move up and up. I'd keep an eye on him
|35 weeks 22 hours ago||not so sure||
I remember that defense grinding to a halt against good defenses.
|38 weeks 3 hours ago||imagine||
if Gus Malzahn had been the OC with Denard (or Devin for that matter)!
|38 weeks 3 days ago||true||
This is not Iowa vs MSU. It's $#U%Q(@_$%$ Ohio, ESPN's favorite school, and the only non-SEC or PAC 12 team with any chance at a NC.
|40 weeks 1 day ago||Absolutely||
Now we have to worry about nagging injuries. Honestly, the bb team's run last March, the win over ND, and hockey's win over BC have been the only bright spots in an otherwise black hole of a year. Pitch black. (Sorry gymnastics, and women's volleyball teams. I should have given you credit for your achievements.)
|40 weeks 2 days ago||RR vs Hoke or Gerg vs Borges?||
Honestly, I wonder if Rich Rod or Hoke are worse. I think Gerg was undermined by RR's insistence to run the 3-3-5. Hoke seems to not know anything about the offense and lets Borges do anything he wants even though it's the worst anyone here can imagine.
I generally like Hoke, but maybe he is in over his head. If he's the CEO, yes defend your staff, but make the hard decisions and find someone who can do the job or your business will go under.
I remember how frustrated we were with Carr's conservative playcalling and predictability. He had amazing talent that could beat people up until he faced teams just as talented and then it was a dogfight, often undone by some crazy play by a heisman candidate bucknut.
|41 weeks 5 days ago||totally||
I'm in complete agreement with this. I wonder if we hadn't complelely looked lost on the field the last two months whether Hand would have chosen differently. That, we may never know. We are all making assumptions that it's because of the poor performance, but maybe Saban and Bama just gave him a better impression.
|42 weeks 1 day ago||backups doing great||
Seems that the Baylor and Mizzou coaches have done amazing things with backups stepping in for injured players.
That said, there are other excellent suggestions here, such as the coaches from Stanford, and Slippery Rock.
If none are available or we are worried they want head coaching jobs, my friend coaches his kid's soccer team, so maybe he could do it.
|43 weeks 1 day ago||Repeat of the basketball program||
I feel like we are watching the bottoming out of a program like the bball team. Except this team doesn't have sanctions. Is Hoke the new Amaker?
|43 weeks 1 day ago||+1||
|43 weeks 1 day ago||I wouldn't blame him||
I'm sure a lot of people here would want to add their turd to the bag
|43 weeks 1 day ago||Too true||
We see it every game. We have one game plan which is the same against every team we face and never adjust when it doesn't work. pay attention to what is happening on the field.
|43 weeks 2 days ago||No||
Borges seems to plan the game as though there is no team on the other side of the field. He just calls the game he would want to call. It is almost a video game on he easy level. He assumes that his players will block perfectly and run and throw perfectly. And he neglects to teach them how to perform. His play calling on the road is as conservative as anyone around here has ever seen. He babies these players, especially on the road.
Hey, at home with slightly smarter play calling and against Indiana, that works.
Mattison seems to have fallen for this too. In his first year, he called a lot of blitz packages to overcome his lack of talent. Now he gets conservative and the d doesn't hold up.
There is also clearly something wrong with player development. I still would love for Hand to come to UM, but I would get it if he does not.
|43 weeks 2 days ago||This||
So. True. Same sh*t different game
|49 weeks 3 days ago||I want to say||
I'd like to say UM 35-13, but feel that UM by 23-17 may be the underwhelming score. okay, I'll go with 35-13, which still isn't that great
|51 weeks 3 days ago||UM-ND late 80's||
Not sure Mike Gillette was in the room for that speech. I only remember him missing a lot of field goals. I'm still sore about it.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||WRs||
Though all those guys were great for UM, why not spread the love once I a while? I almost never read Derrick Alexander, Amani Toomer or Tai Street's names here. All great players
|1 year 29 weeks ago||analysis||
Actually, I agree with a lot of comments here that the more closely you look at it, Freeze was fortunate. Solid in-state guys, and the brother of the #1 recruit and best pal of the #1 WR, easier academics than at other schools etc.
I'm more interested now in Urban's 'uncommittable" offer.
