I think this one was adequately descriptive, no?
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:28 PM ^
Definitely debatable

No. Something "Baylor and TCU best teams in the country?" Would've been better. Your title just named two teams.

I thought they were playing each other, based on the title.

I don't think Baylor is a top 5 team. Didn't Minnesota challenge TCU?
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:28 PM ^
I'm not totally sold on Baylor or TCU either. Neither team plays a lick of defense and also hasn't played anyone that plays defense. Top 5, I'll buy. But not 1-2.
Best team might be Alabama. That Ole Miss loss was fluky as hell. And they might be the most balanced team in the country.

Bama QB is a big weakness. Coker isn't good enough to win them games. Baylor would shred Bama defense with ease

Coker was nearly perfect today.
October 3rd, 2015 at 10:42 PM ^
Point being is he's not good enough when Bama have to go into a shootout with Baylor or TCU. He's just a guy at QB.

You're joking right??? Coker threw for 201 yards and 3 TDs in one half vs Ole Miss' much ballyhooed defense. Yes, he also threw 2 INTs, but he had to try and help dig them out of the hole Bateman put them in early, and he nearly did. It took 5 turnovers and a miracle arm punt of a TD "pass" for the BowtiedBlackBearLandSharkRebs to beat the Tide by 6... In a shoot out... Against a defense littered with future NFL talent. Bama's offense would rip through this year's TCU and Baylor defenses like the sieve that they are. Meanwhile, while Bama wouldn't shut down their offenses, I don't think there's a unit in the nation that could do that... They would definitely slow them considerably and make them work their asses off to cross the GL. Remember, TCU and Baylor are scoring at will vs teams where not only do they have superior coaching and game planning... But save for maybe Oklahoma, they have better athletes than those teams as well. They certainly won't out coach Saban, or out game plan... And Bama has an entire roster littered with 5 *'s. Their 3rd string would likely start over half the teams in their conference. Twice this season UofM has held a team to 105 yards of total offense or less... The only other team to do that??? You guessed it, the Tide... When they held ULM to a whopping 92 yards.
P. S. I live in the south and have grown to despise Alabama... But I have to give credit where it is due. TCU would have the best chance to beat them of the two. In the Saban era, the recipe to beat Bama is an uptempo spread offense with a dual threat QB (Tebow, Jefferson, Cam, Manziel, Marshall, Wallace, Jones, Kelly, etc.). They eat pro style offenses and drop back QBs for lunch, which is why I knew they would beat UGA... I didn't know it would be that lopsided, but I figured they'd focus on containing Chubb & Michel and make the QB beat them down the field.

This. The majority of the big 12 doesn't play defense. I have a feeling once whoever gets their bid to the playoff they will look inept against an elite defense.
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:28 PM ^
I think TCU can be beat by teams that are able to control the clock. Minnesota almost beat them because of this.
Baylor is good, but their defense is average at best.
Oklahoma will beat one of them.
October 3rd, 2015 at 11:00 PM ^
Agree. TCU had their "Indiana" game the first game of the season. Their defense looks too weak to be a true contender.

Unsupported opinion 1. Unsupported opinion 2 and 3. Unsupported opinion 4. Blanket statement.

It feels like this is the year a team who's currently outside the top 10 wins it all.
October 3rd, 2015 at 10:26 PM ^
Maybe somewhere just outside the top 20?
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:30 PM ^
Baylor and TCU....seemingly keep running up scores. I like the way Florida looks today.
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:30 PM ^
Are we going to just ignore last week when TCU nearly lost to an unranked team?
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:32 PM ^
I would like to see any coach keep his team afloat with 7 injuries to the defense. They only have 1 starter left from the Peach Bowl team last year.
Patterson is a miracle worker.
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:42 PM ^
Seriously, all teams have injuries. The game is played by the ones on the field during the game. They aren't there, they don't count.
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:31 PM ^
No way, both have horrid defenses and play nobody in their conference. We have no idea who the best team is right now. Call back in 3 weeks.

TCU Baylor game is gonna be 90-87 this year
TCU's defense is way too banged up and Baylor doesn't play defense.

over a great Minnesota team to open the season?

Don't forget their convincing 55-52 win over Texas tech

TCU has had some rough moments. Everyone has really. With what's happening right now the polls should change drastically tomorrow. Clemson is going to move way up if they can finish BK.
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:36 PM ^
Utah is the best team I've seen this year.
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:36 PM ^
There are no teams this year that would beat any of the teams in last year's playoff.

If MSU and osu didn't have such an easy schedule they could have 2 losses by now.
But you know they will bring their A game for us

07 was pretty bananas, especially late in the season.

TCU and Baylor blow donkey balls. You can't suck at defense and be be ranked one or two. Shouldn't even be top ten

Defense wins championships
October 3rd, 2015 at 10:43 PM ^
In this era, you need offense to score points. Defense wins championships meme needs to die. You need both great offense and defense to win it all. Florida has elite defense last year and their offense is shitty.

True to an large extent. But a defense that can't hold Texas Tech under forty is not good enough to win it all.
October 3rd, 2015 at 11:10 PM ^
Fact is Baylor and TCU are top 10 team considering how the top 25 teams have played today.

October 3rd, 2015 at 9:44 PM ^
I love that UT is the 4th best college football team...in Texas...
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:50 PM ^
You sure they are better than Texas Tech? I'd say Texas is likely 5th best. Although I'm not certain they could beat Houston or SMU this year either
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:54 PM ^
You're right. I'd go:
1. Baylor/TCU
3. Texas A&M
4. Texas Tech
5. Houston
6. UT
7. Rice
Holy shit, the Longhorn fans must be losing it...
October 3rd, 2015 at 9:57 PM ^
Yeah, This Week in Schadenfreude is going to be epic this week, and Texas was the star of the show last week.
