Anderson staying at Stanford

Submitted by Bo Knows on

Reported by Ivan Maisel at ESPN.

Cannot blame the guy, it would be tough for anyone to go from full control over a unit to sharing it.  We all know Harbaugh will win here, but my hopes were getting pretty high with all the rumored names for the staff.

Perhaps Harbaugh will address the coaching search this morning. As of the time of this post he hasn't been on yet.

What did maisel say? I just looked at his Twitter and didn't see anything and I'm not seeing it reported else where. Not calling you out, just curious on what was said?

Personally, I'm not going to react too much to who's coming and who's not coming with Harbaugh. I'm sure Harbaugh will make the right hires. The coaches that have been mentioned so far are too important to their respective programs to make a laterally move right now. Despite the speculation that Michigan offered more money for the same position, I'm fine with some people saying no, since Harbaugh knows talent when he sees it.

Did anyone else want to puke this morning when they saw Marrow and Turley weren't coming?  Went to bed last night thinking this was going to be the best staff ever assembled and these guys were already on their way them bam, they're not.

After the last 24 hours, I am ready for Harbaugh to annouce his real staff and let's get this thing started.  The rumors flying around are doing more damage than good IMO.

Agreed.  Don't want to lose too much momentum from the initial Harbaugh hire.

I'd love to see Durkin, Mattison, Manning, Jackson, and Drevno formally announced today.

Edit: My biggest issue with this is that Swenson was given this info before it was official.  How many people look bad because of that?

We won this coaching search when old #4 came back to Ann Arbor....I have the utmost faith that he will assemble a rock star staff. So we swung and missed with a few....but it shows that Jimmy is swinging for the fences!

Look this isn't that complicated - everybody's happy were sitting down to a nice steak dinner. BUT the waiter came by and mistakenly said there was free lobster with it, and then the manager came by and corrected him.

So now we're a little disappointed and peeved, even though we're getting everything we thought we were getting when we walked in the place... human nature

Honestly, as long as Durkin is indeed coming, this doesn't seem like a major problem to me.  In fact, I was starting to worry that it was (as someone had mentioned) a potential 'too many cooks' situation in the making.

A bit bummed over Marrow and Turley (if the noises we're hearing are true), but come on, aren't we getting just a little bit greedy?

Yep, Im with you Decatur...losing Turley would be a much bigger loss. One of the reasons why Michigan was unsuccessful for most of Hoke's tenure was bc of the strength and conditioning program. I know injuries happen and they are part of the game, but it seemed liked Michigan always had numerous guys suffering season ending lower body injuries. Also, Michigan was not very good in the 2nd half, and I know a lot of that is attributed to coaching and lack of adjustments, but they also looked soft and were pushed around. A S&C is probably the second most important hire of the offseason, imo.

And Turley.  While David Shaw may be a good coach, he is now getting all of his players in the program at Stanford while Jim's have graduated, will he have the same success as he did previously.  He has gone from 3 straight 11 win regular seasons to now 7 wins this year.

I thought getting Durkin and Anderson was a stretch...especially with Mattison staying on.  Agree with the OP that while Michigan/Harbaugh was probably attractive the split very well may not have been.  However, with all the talking and big names being thrown around I sure hope we land Durkin at this point...and the rumors seem to still be swirling about Turley.  No Durkin would suck some wind out of the sails IMO.

I won't. I read the rumor and then the poster said that Woodson wanted to play one last year and then would consider coaching at Michigan.

I wanted to see if there was any other report of this.

The main reason I don't blieve it is because apparentely, his wine business is doing really well and I would think that he wouldn't want to spend all of his time coaching.

Are you kidding?  For a guy like Woodson, there is nothing like the game of football.  The wine business is very cool, but it does not fire up the adrenaline like game day.  And Woodson is an adrenaline junkie.  He has to be to have remained that competitive for so long.  Would love -- love! -- him coaching our DB's.
