in 4-5 years who's ends up being the best recruit in this class.
For the first time in a long time we do not have a top 10 player at any position (according to scout) outside Wile @ Kicker. There is no runaway favorite recruit like in previous years. I am curious to whom you guys think will be the biggest star from this class.

Bellomy.... what I saw from him, I think he is gonna be a star. I also said the same about Denard when we signed him when everyone only could see Forcier.
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:25 PM ^
someone starts a thread and asks an opinion question-then you answer simply and get 7 negs for. What a bunch of assholes. This site is filled with them now.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
I didn't neg him for liking Bellomy.
"I also said the same about Denard when we signed him when everyone only could see Forcier."
I negged him for that douchetastic comment. No one cares if you saw some talent in a player when no one else did. Yes Denard is great and Tate kinda nosedived. Does he want a medal?
He sees potential in Bellomy. Great, good. Why be a dick then?

Greg Mattison
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:14 PM ^
Borges is the 5-star prospect. Boom!
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:12 PM ^
I'm going on a limb and going with Rawls.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:14 PM ^
i would tend to agree. he's built like a truck and has to speed to make long runs.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:16 PM ^
I will second Rawls. Also excited to see what Kellen Jones can do.
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
Kellen Jones looks like a very solid tackler so I'm also interested in what he can do.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:12 PM ^
Antonio Poole. Tremendous upside at LB once he gets a little weight on him.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:15 PM ^
Yep, I said this in the live blog and I agree - I think Poole is the catch of this class. He'll be a very good WLB for us for years. He reminds me a lot of Cam Gordon, but can tackle.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:14 PM ^
i think rawls if he gets his act together academically, if not then justice with his skill on the filed and in recruiting i forsee him being around for alot of future visits
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:15 PM ^
Thomas Rawls. A 3 STAR recruit.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:16 PM ^
OL from the University of Michigan Chris Bryant!
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:40 PM ^
I like him the best. I'd put Kellen Jones in second place.
None of the Rivals 5.5 Ohioans do much for me. As far as Rawls is concerned, he appears to be (as others have noted) Kevin Grady II on film. I still that he's so enthusiastic about playing at Michigan.
February 2nd, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
about your comments on the "5.5 Ohioans." I think Jack Miller will be a great center or SDE for us.
I'm excited about Barnett. With a red shirt year his upper body will fill out and catch up with his lower body. He'll be a huge target and should be solid at the point of attack in the run game.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:18 PM ^
Best recruit we got this year - was supposed to be part of the Fisher, Zettel, and Beyer trifecta. Still think he is Craig Roh reincarnate. WIll be the best recruit from this class....
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:18 PM ^
I agree with Rawls. Poor man's Tyrone Wheatley. The only thing that can stop him is his own grades.
Sleeper pick: Desmond Morgan
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:19 PM ^
Brennan Beyer will be dominate. Kelen Jones has those instincts you need at LB. Kind of like an anti-Ezeh.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
For the sake of our defense I hope it's Jones.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:46 PM ^
I definitely think Kellen Jones. That kid's all-in and he's got the tools and will probably get good playing time early.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
This class will be a big success if the o-line prospects pan out. If two of those guys end up as starters in 3-4 years this is a very good haul. If not, there could be issues going forward with depth/talent up front where (much like now) young guys have to jump into the rotation early on in their careers.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
A lot of people will flock to the skill positions and probably pick someone like Rawls but I see Poole as the blue chipper of this class and somone who we'll see playing on Sundays.
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
Wise choice, especially under Coach Mattison. There are alot of guys that should be on our board that we should be discussing but since our coaching change and d-coordinator hiring was delayed we never had a shot.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
Kellen Jones is the kind of player that will be a star on this team. We have been desperate for a dynamic LB for years and I believe he fits the bill.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:36 PM ^
Agreed. Just needs a year in the weightroom.

Thomas "LOU" Rawls...
Maybe the big house can pipe in some smooth Lou Rawls music when Thomas gets the ball. And the crowd chants Louuuuuuuuuuu.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:35 PM ^
Rawls or Kellen Jones IMHO. I like Beyer too.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
I'll go with Blake Countess (de money?), but I'm also fully on board the Rawls bandwagon.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:44 PM ^
Justice Hayes was the 3rd best All purpose back.. but that is according to rivals, Scout's site is so un organized it's a chore following that site
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:54 PM ^
Ingram who?
February 2nd, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
http://michigan.rivals.com/quicklist.asp?School=44&Sport=1&DPosition=9&…
rivals has him at 3 and rawls NR but a 3 star. don't mean to restate what you said just passing on the link
February 2nd, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:43 PM ^
I think the kid could be a mauler on the interior offensive line in a few years.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:47 PM ^
Chris Bryant will be coached up by our staff and end up as a great Michigan lineman. He's got all the physical tools and once he understands technique I think the sky is the limit for this guy.
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
My most sincere hope:
Kellen Jones = David Harris
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
So, the coaching staff will find a way to under-utilize Jones until he has some monster season when he is a senior? Sign me up for that!
Countess/Rawls/Beyer are the three that we'll be talking about long after 4 years from now...
February 2nd, 2011 at 12:58 PM ^
Desmond Morgan...
He seems like the smart inside backer who knows how to bring the pain
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
Raymon Taylor.
Another "Dream School" kid. He has a very high ceiling.
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
I got to watch a little bit of Beyer's state championship game this year and I think he could be real tough.
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
...but don't be surprised if it's a lower rated recruit. Yes, I've seen the stats on 5 stars and NFL drafts, but take a look at this:
slmandel Aaron Rodgers: None (went to juco). Roethlisberger: Only Miami as a QB. RT @mbbreitenbach: @slmandel How many offers did Superbowl QBs get?
February 2nd, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Zettel, now wait, I mean Fisher, no wait...D-Har...ummmmm.....
Thanks Mr. Brandon for a coaching change in the middle of January - Strategery!!! (I had you figured out wrong Mr. Pizza Man).
Good luck to the new recruits, prove me wrong.
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
Zettel never committed here, and has never wavered. Just accept he liked PSU more. And Hart was shoeing cold feet and flip-flopping rumors long before the coaching change. It could just as easily be said 7-6 killed his recruitment as much as the timing of a change.
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
Barnett?
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
Love all the shoutouts to both Fred Jackson's recruiting work and the "groundwork" that coach Rod and his staff laid for a lot of these committs. Brady is one class act!
Go blue!
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
Chris Barnett!
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
Jones, or Barnett. I think linebackers are the most integral part of a good defense. Barnett is already the right size to contribute...he might split time with Brandon Moore.
February 2nd, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
On offense - I think Bryant will be a monster, especially if he reaches his ceiling. I think Thomas Rawls can be the next great Michigan RB too.
On defense - I think it will be either of the LB's; Poole or Jones. Both show great ability and instincts, we just have to hope Mattison will maximize their potential. (Which he should).
