UMx I can't plus you enough for this comment. I wish they would move the band to behind the goal posts too. Maybe even move them up a couple rows to the point in the bowl where they wouldn't need the speakers. I've herd the complaint that it wouldn't work logisti, but Penn States band is located pretty high in thier stadium right behind the goal posts

No shit. They won't try to fix the roads but let's pass a bill that only will effect maybe 1000 kids that play D 1 football across the state.

Damn Brian handing out Prozac on a Sunday. The manic depression is strong on the board today.

Elliot is very good and I would take him. You obviously watch a lot of football just like us. So I will pose a question to you. Is it easier to run the ball when the safeties have to worry about getting burned deep? This year we couldn't threaten anyone vertically and we ran into a stacked box all year. Part of our success on offense against Osu was because we threatened you deep early in the game and forced your safeties to respect the long ball. JT was able threaten teams deep all year and soften up the box for Elliot. It's not rocket science Gardner and the receivers just couldn't physically do it this year. But if you need an answer from a rocket scientist go talk to space coyote he is one.
On defense i look at how OSU struggled to stop Coleman and Indiana. We played them at a similar time in the year and we shut him down and forced him to fumble it twice. But honestly I am more emotionally vested in our players, so yea I'll take them over OSU players.
|1 week 1 day ago||I'll bite, First our QB play||
First our QB play was awful this year. I suspect it had a lot more due to injury then him being bad. The injuries that we know about happened to his feet. (Broken foot against you guys last year, sprained ankle in the PSU game). It was reported on TV that during the weeks after PSU he had to wear a walking boot on campus. These injuries took the dual right out of our dual threat QB. Also during the year Baumgardner (sp) a mlive beat guy reported on how Gardners velocity wasn't on par with his velocity from previous years. This has lead to a lot of speculation on this board to wonder if he had an undisclosed shoulder/upper body injury. But at the end of the day you guys had way better QB play then we did.
RB- I think we have better running backs on our roster than OSU. Next year depending on drakes knee we will have 4 guys who could potentially start. This is going to start sounding like a broken record, but Smith also suffered an ankle sprain that limited him all year and was helped off the field multiple times all year. Green broke his clavicle at the point in the year our oline started to "gel". As for Drake he was coming off an ACL tear from the year before and got stuck toward the bottom of the depth chart because he was rehabbing his knee all offseason. Last year Drake was second on the depth chart behind Fitz T, who was a 1000 yard back his junior year. Ty Isaac might pass all three of our experienced backs this off season.
Oline- again OSU's line solidified itself quicker the Michigans. But by the end of the year they were really good. We went a three game stretch that gardner barley got touched unless he held onto the ball to long. Plus the running game was rolling with Johnson, and I think he was on his way to over 100 yards against your vaunted Dline.
Wide receiver- again OSU was better. None of our receivers had the speed to stretch the field vertically. Here is the record breaking again but Funch suffered a sprained ankle in the ND game and he would constantly be hobbling off the field. OSU was one of the few games he looked healthy and he played pretty good in that one. Darbogh will always be a posession type receiver, and I suspect Chesson will get passed by guys that were freshman this year.
On defense- The only player I would take over any player on Michigan is Bosa. Loosing Frank Clark for the last two games of the year really hurt our defense. His loss forced us to play Poggi who Meyer was able to attack when he was in the field.
That's the best I have for the time I have.

Right now Herman would be unqualified for the Michigan job.
|1 week 2 days ago||I dislike Dave Brandon as||
I dislike Dave Brandon as much as anyone, but to say he didn't put forth any effort in his coach search is kind of short sighted. He hired a firm just like Hackett, and coming from the alumni at the time everyone wanted to go back to "Michigan football". Harbaugh was headed to the NFL by everyone's account at the time, and Brady Hoke was the best available coach with Michigan ties. (Les Miles was and always will have to much baggage for the Michigan job even 4 years ago, on top of that he basically turned us down when we hired rich rod. Yes Martin was on a boat, but was he the only guy miles could have called. I doubt it.)
Brandon lost sight of what was important. He seemed more concerned with putting his name on new buildings and not keeping up with the goodwill of the fan base. He lost me when I entered the stadium this year and he had plastered it with PNC bank advertisements that used our players to hock new bank accounts. The players are not allowed to make money themselves in advertisements and neither should the university.

Can we add Denard's speed, Gardner's height, and Tom Brady's decision makeing in the pot too?
|1 week 2 days ago||i just looked up Jones, why||
i just looked up Jones, why isn't he being recruited by more west coast teams? Also I saw he has a Akron offer I don't know if we will be able to get him out of the grips of Bowden... Seems like a long shot.
|1 week 2 days ago||Call me crazy but I still||
Call me crazy but I still think Morris can be a top QB. I don't know why we always discredit guys who haven't played yet. Maybe it's a product of our roster haveing so many holes for so many years and young players had to step in right away.
I too wouldn't mind if they took another QB, perhaps even a dual threat guy. Are there any uncommitted dual threat guys worth looking at?
|1 week 2 days ago||The bright side of this class||
The bright side of this class is that we don't have any holes on the roster that absolutely needs addressing. Just about everyone will be able to redshirt and won't have to step into a starting role until thier third season. Of course I'd rather have top recruits being able to take three years before they have to start your point is valid that the coaches can take some lower level recruits in this class.

This just confirms how much money has changed football. If your a coach and winning you are looking for the next bigger job, and the schools are going to fire you if you fuck up thier money stream by not winning imeadeatly.
|1 week 3 days ago||The biggest issue I have with||
The biggest issue I have with hireing a non proven head coach is all the administrative BS type stuff the head coach has to deal with. A head coach is more of an administrator type person while your coordinators are like your top salesman in an office. Not every great offensive or defensive mind is great at being a head coach. So is Michigan going to just take a chance on a guy like Herman and hope he can handle the head job, I doubt it.
The part that intrigues me with Herman is that Urban Meyer is leaving a wake of good coaches across the NCAA as he changes jobs every three to five years. Charlie Strong, Mullen, Anderson, Whittingham so is Herman going to be the next one.
|1 week 3 days ago||It's funny you mention him,||
It's funny you mention him, because watching ND you could tell his team quite on him after thier first loss. Some of that probably had to do with the refs hoseing them. But I would imagine a lot of it had to do with Kelly being a dbag. Remember Kelly throwing Golson under the bus at a press conference, also remember how he handled Tommy Reas.
|1 week 3 days ago||They are old enough to||
They are old enough to handle, but are they mentally capable to handle it. I always find the psychology of a coaches decisions to be interesting. I'm in my 30s and I still don't like to get a tounge lashing at work, and I believe that should be done in private too. Football players know when they F up, sometimes it's thier fault and sometimes the guy across from you just flat out beat you.
Take a guy like Bo Polini, people still play clips of him just laying into Taylor Martinez on the side line. Maybe Martinez could handle it and that helped motivate him, but it can also back fire on a coach and guys will stop playing hard for a guy.
It's definitely a balancing act that I'm glade that I don't have to do.
|1 week 3 days ago||i see what your saying. I||
i see what your saying. I think hoke did a better job of this than most people will give him credit for. I always hate when a coach berates his players in public. Just like I won't berate my kids in public. But they know when they get home ( out of the public) they are going to get in trouble. I would rather have my coach give the players this same respect.

|1 week 4 days ago||On that play I thought he or||
On that play I thought he or the receiver got a read wrong. Instead of a lot of bad throws he had all year that one looked like a good throw, the receiver broke left and gardner read the read to break right. I would imagine those kind of things happened a lot this year. Hoke had mentioned in press conferences that the passing attack had more issues than just gardner and I suspect a lot of those issues were post snap reads that the receivers were getting wrong due to youth and inexperience in a new offense.

I love how Hackett is useing the media guys as pawns. He leeks a little info to JUB. Then it's posted on some message boards and Hackett can gauge the interest of the fan base.
A couple days ago they floated out Schiano. Everybody hates the idea, so now all the reports are that Schiano is the guy who is pushing for the job, and the university has no interest.
Now they are floating more Miles talk and he can gauge our interest on miles. Well played Mr Hackett.

No he would go to the casino for that. He is from Sandusky so we figured he was in town after visiting family for the holidays. He hung out in a conference room with another guy most of the afternoon and was probably studying for MNF.

|1 week 5 days ago||That's pretty much what I||
That's pretty much what I figured, and to be honest shouldn't be hard for college coaches to coach. My issue with last years oline was mainly due to the center position. When Miller got benched it created 2 holes in the oline. Yea Glasgow could physically play center but was probably worse at the "calls". Miller just wasn't physically ready to play as a RS sophomore but probably knew the calls. This probably contributed to Kallis's mental struggles.

|1 week 5 days ago||How many different pass||
How many different pass blocking schemes are there, slide right, slide left, cut, no slide just straight up for a pocket. When I played in highschool we used two schemes, straight up no slide and cut block. I always figured out o lines have been bad at pass pro because youth, bad communication from the center, and some guys just were not good.

DG was about as mobile as chad henne for most of the year the dude broke one foot at the end of last year, and then severely sprained his other ankle. He wasn't remotely mobile this year. Saying they didn't use his mobility as an asset is just plain uninformed.
