2018 Night Games

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

Per our tv contract, we will have one night game this season. Would you rather play Nebraska, PSU, or Wisconsin at night? My vote is for Wisconsin.

Dude. Welcome to MgoBlog. Where all the Homerz live. We’ll be 12-0 every season according to most a lot of the homerz on here.
I hate to give sharty any credit. And I can’t stand douchetonio. But they are the substance over our style lately. Hope that changes real soon.

The TV contracts obligate us to, but do not limit us to one home night game in 2018.  We could have night games with both Nebraska and Wisconsin if Harbaugh is willing.  A night game vs Penn State is unlikely because it is in November.

BTW, the Sept 1 game at ND is the marquee game that weekend and will be a night game as well.

Penn State.

They are in our division.
We need to take care of business there first. Not to mention they whooped our asses in then night game this year would be nice to return the favor.

I believe Notre Dame already is a night game, but of course, if we're talking about just inside the Big Ten schedule, then I would probably want Wisconsin as a night game just for the variety if nothing else. Nebraska doesn't seem like it would be attractive enough for a 7 PM or 8 PM kick, and we seem to find ourselves playing PSU at night quite a bit anyway, at least when we're at their place.

Have to eliminate penn state right away because night games in November Michigan weather tend to be awful. I guess I'd lean wisc over Nebraska simply for a home field advantage over what should be the tougher of the two teams

I would love to get Ped State at home at night, get some revenge infront of a packed, loud house in Ann Arbor. I wish nothing but ill to that program and any chance we can beat em in front of the country I'll take.

Never understood why we don't schedule as many big games as possible with Harbaughs "every possible competitive advantage" talk. From a atmosphere, recruiting, noise and national exposure standpoint it's clearly an advantage. With that in mind my order of preferences... 1.Wisconsin (best team) 2.Penn St (revenge game) 3.Nebraska (might be dangerous as I believe they'll be much better with Frost than anticipated not to mention they've recruited pretty well under previous regime so the talent is there)

Nebraska

I live in Wisconsin and these Packers/Badgers fans are so annoying. My goodness during this undefeated run it was unbearable . After OSU, MSU and ND, I hate the badgers the most .

Remember - PACKERS FANS ARE BADGERS FANS = SUPER ANNOYING AND STUPID

I am so enjoying Wisconsin basketball getting destroyed right now. Greg Gard is no Bo Ryan. Besides Happ that team is trash. The last 5 years during basketball season was littered with wisconsin basketball talk, this year you could hear a pin drop , nobody talking about them. It is a thing of beauty.

So let it be Nebraska , I wanna shut Frost up, plus i have never been to a Michigan Nebraska game yet.

1.  The B1G doesn't exist in a vacuum, of course.  The schedules for the other conferences (ACC, Pac-12, Big XII) where either or both of FOX and ABC/ESPN have the rights to broadcast Prime Time games ---- the schedules for those conferences are considerably stronger on 3-November vs. 13-October.  There are more non-B1G Prime Time options on 3-November.

2.  On 3-November, there is another highly valuable B1G game available to FOX, ABC, or ESPN to broadcast in Prime Time --- Notre Dame @ Northwestern.  Most folk here aren't Notre Dame fans (neither am I), but the networks love getting them in Prime Time if/when possible.  Nebraska @ OSU is also on this date.  Even though Nebraska's down a bit, that's not a bad game at all from the POV of the TV bean-counters.

3.  On 13-October, the next best B1G game is MSU @ PSU.  That could theoretically be a possible Prime Time game, but PSU announced earlier this week that will be their 2018 homecoming game.  PSU will not want a night homecoming game (they've never had one before), and the B1G's TV partners have always worked with the conference in setting the homecoming game times (1) well ahead of time (not subject to 6- and 12- day selections), and (2) at the school's request.
